The worst thing to happen to Madden was when they signed that NFL exclusive deal in 2004 or 2005, thereby getting rid of their biggest competitor, the NFL 2K series. Without any competition, they have not needed to push the bar. Therefore, mediocrity set in. Madden did this to themselves, and now we have to deal with their crappy games.

Madden needs a new engine based on physics and not animation. Competition wouldn't hurt either, but until they give up on the frostbite engine nothing will change

Ignite was not perfect , but It was simple and works better. Just play Madden 17 to feel It. If only they keep Ignite for sports and Frost for FPS It will be much better by now.

The indie gaming scene needs to step in and make football games that actually innovate and finally push the sports genre forward. The worst thing that happen to the game play of madden was singing an exclusive deal with the NFL. They were at their best when they had to compete agains Blitz and 2k it was better.

Stopped playing Madden games over a decade ago but sometimes I'm curious with how the series is progressing. So nice to see they still have many of the same problems and janky animations that existed 10-15 years ago.
