in fact the madden refs don't make mistakes because the game knows everything. Wrong decisions are a gimmick or a feature of the game. Why the computer should not know a player touches the line or the ball comes out after the player was down? The computer knows if it was a touchdown or it was not. In online games you can not challenge the play because the refs are always right.

They dumb the game down more and more every year. We have little user control and I see it getting worse in the future.

EA sucks ass. They just don't care. They don't have to improve features because they have a monopoly on the NFL. Our only hope is in a few years, if and when they lose their sole grasp on the NFL. If 2K or some other companies were able to make NFL games it would spark competition, other companies would be highly motivated to put out a polished product to win over customers and EA would finally be forced to up its game. I haven't bought an EA football game since I believe 2011 NCAA football. They're so ass. I laugh watching just how shit players look when they run in Madden, and how unrealistic the speed feels for the fast players.

Retro Rezolve- It's disgusting isn't it? It's gotten so bad that a company like Rockstar literally stopped production of their single player story DLC for GTA 5 because they were making so much cash off of their bullshit online multiplayer micro transactions. I remember when the very first gameplay trailer was released for GTA 5. They showed the in-game realty website and I was so fucking excited that we were going to be able to buy property again like we could in San Andreas (which is still the best GTA game of all time). Then the game came out and the website was for some reason "under construction". Okay, I figured that it would eventually be up and running so we could buy property in-game. Well even though that website is there in single player, it turns out that Rockstar decided to make buying property EXCLUSIVELY an online multiplayer thing. Gee, that couldn't be because it encourages people to use REAL MONEY to buy in-game cash to be able to buy the properties they want, instead of using the $2.5 BILLION they earn in the single player story...could it? That's not even the worst part. When the game first came out on PC, every time they would add new cars or new guns to the online multiplayer, they would add them to the single player stores to buy as well, just like you would expect. Those cocksuckers have become so greedy that they literally stopped adding ANYTHING to the single player game to GUARANTEE that if you wanted to try those cool new cars and guns you had to play online and pay REAL LIFE MONEY for them if you don't have time to spend 100 hours grinding out cash through online bullshit missions. I'm so disgusted that I don't even touch GTA 5 anymore. When they added that new mega-yacht I logged in and downloaded the update PRAYING that they added that to single player. Who the fuck was I kidding? No yacht, no property to store additional vehicles at, no new guns, no new cars...not a FUCKING THING for the single player story anymore. Rockstar can go fuck themselves. From here on out I will NEVER buy ANYTHING other than used versions of their games from Gamestop or Amazon or Craigslist or WHEREVER to ensure that they don't make a FUCKING PENNY off of those games from me. Greedy pieces of SHIT.

4th an inches... should be able to QB sneak for a first down right? In any realistic real life football scenario, that’s a first down. Especially if they don’t expect it. I have 17, which was the first Madden I had purchased since 13. I've long been off the yearly purchase. Exactly because of stuff like this. Things that perhaps get slightly better there's always things that become worse in Madden games. Like a big cat and mouse games with these clowns. Would you say 17 was better than 18 as a whole?

17 was way better. 18 is literally the same game, just with uglier (albeit faster) menus and infinitely more bugs.

Aside from the shitty qb sneaks there have literally been hundreds or thousands of times where I have a player being tackled, clearly going over the goal line and scoring, only to be called down at the 1 yard line. And the play is for whatever reason un-challengeable.

Playing against a cpu on MUT will cause them to lift you up and tackle you

I never realized this. I remember them nerfing the QB sneak a few years back but I skipped a few years (returning in M18), I didn't realize it was THAT bad going from one year to the next.

Things that annoy me the most are blocked punts. You know when the punter grabs a second time you know it's gonna be blocked. And then there's those wide open receivers who can't get their feet down.

Dude, I don't even play Madden anymore and haven't for over 6-8 years now, but I like to follow the franchise to see if they ever have a return to form like back in the early 2000's. I see it hasn't happened yet...but I'm just explaining why I subbed. I like your insight and I play fighting games on a competitive level so it's interesting to see buffs and nerfs bugs from a Madden perspective. I love the vids man!

I sometimes hate it when I'm 3rd and inches or 4 and inches. If my opponent has neglected the outside and is blitzing inside; then I'll run outside zone, toss, fake fb toss. But if my opponent is blitzing from the inside and outside, then I start to panick a little. I can't use QB sneak because it's broke, sometimes I get anxious running inside against a heavy blitz like that. Don't want to play action because it could end up in a sack. So only really leaves passing as an option (usually out of the gun). It's annoying how Madden have ruined the short yardage situations and it almost forces you to have to play only 1 way. If all I need is an inch I want to QB sneak, I don't want to risk passing it.

Qb sneak was abused for years. If the block gap assignments were good there wouldn't be a problem. It is what it is. Effort is hard to establish in a game. Thats why theres so many scripts.

Why though was Madden, NFL 2K, and APF able to better replicate football over a decade ago than today's product? Because to me, the amount of control and authenticity of the sport was at it's peak in the 2001-2005 era of Madden and then when NFL 2K hit the scene. That's still the pinnacle of football video games. It looked like football, behaved like football, and felt like football. If it's based so heavily on animations and dice rolls, that's a flaw in the game design. And it's a very, very deeply rooted flaw. Backbreaker replicated football better, it's not like it's impossible, the Madden team is just doing the complete wrong thing and has the wrong idea of how to replicate football. That's why Madden and NCAA football were never as good after the jump from PS2/GC/Xbox era to the PS3, Xbox 360 era. They turned it into Animations the video game, and have only hurt themselves more and more by investing into the animation aspect of the game over the mechanics of the sport.

Adam Grasinger different dev team at that time. The current dev cycle have to cater to suits, and the mut crowd. They are cramming new code why'll trying to remove old foundational code. All within in a few months cycle. This is why games arent finished products on release dates anymore. Constant tweaks being done daily.

You can still finish a game before you release it buddy. The choice to release it early is entirely up to the suits, as you said. Still major problems in every aspect of the development and how it's done, regardless of if they're pressured by suits. And yet, it's the customers who get to eat shit and deal with it. And if the customers are sick of eating shit, it's a developers who get fucked. Funny how it's never the suits, even though they're always, nearly without fail, the reason a game falls to shit or becomes something that the fanbase doesn't even want. And the fact that they pissed away a perfect foundation when they transitioned, was still almost for certain, not an order that came from above. The 2006 Madden was so bad on the new generation, the only positive was the presentation. Since then they've never replaced the foundation, everything is built on eggshells, no proper foundation. Even other games that get the yearly bullshit, have a proper foundation to them, or most do anyway. Madden's foundation is entirely the opposite of what football mechanically is. I don't know if you've played football, but there's no such thing as a pre-determined outcome, and there wasn't in Madden before 2006. Not like now, anyway. The mechanics had meaning, now it is literally dice rolls. That's so fucking far from user control, I don't know how anyone is happy with it. Just about every other game does not function like that, instead they're focused on user control. When you shoot a gun in Call of Duty, you don't hit the target if you weren't aiming at them just because you got a good dice roll. You have to control the aim properly. Madden you used to be able to use skill to avoid tackles, exploit defenses. There is still some there, with audibles and the like, but the actual gameplay is just not football, it simply is fundamentally not football. It's dice rolls, that's not how it's supposed to be, regardless of how it is now. THAT JUST IS NOT how you make a god damn football game, it doesn't mean shit that it is that way, it should NOT be that, period.

and I thought kirk cousins just became braindead in my CFM, oh wait, the game is just broken ;)

The problem with QB sneaks isn't with the QB; it's with the blocking. In a QB sneak (as opposed to a QB draw), the offensive line should be very tight and should create a wedge up the middle. In Madden, the blockers spread out and go to the second level, leaving huge gaps for the QB to run. The defense also doesn't react appropriately to the play.

AWESOME Analysis!!! I agree 100% If they made the GL stances like they should be they would have never needed to do this. But they won't fix that so they decided to just make the QB flop. I'm glad you made this video because I haven't used the QB sneak in Madden since the time the QB would run through like a RB. Lol.

For almost two decades, I've watched Tom Brady sneak from almost any formation. Yet, I can only find it in goal line.

They made it that way in this years game because on the goal line in scoring situations or to pick up the first for fourth down last year the sneak had probably a 97% to 98% success rate. And there was really no way to stop it. So they made it extremely useless

@Ryanmoody21 keep up the good work, we need more people like you to expose EA and get them to work more on gameplay instead of MUT equipment.

Don't know if it has been stated or not, but I know there is a popular glitch in '17 that you could hit a button that would eliminate the QB Sneak animation and just have your QB immediately start running. Probably why they took out the first few frames of control from the player. This just feeds into your point though, even more so.

This is why I still run my League on madden 17 still. The gameplay from a CPU aspect is much realistic and the QB reacts way better to incoming pressure. In M18 the awareness just isn't there

In 2016 Madden with 99 Steve young I would press back juke as soon as I snap the ball and run to either the right or left side to pick up yards. Once every 4 or 5 attempts yield 5+ yards.

The Sneak was nearly unstopable in Madden 17. The only way to stop it was to play goalline D, Pinch the line and call run up middle and then it was still not sure if it worked so I like this one way more

There needs to be players forming a pile or scrum like pile and pushing for the extra yards while the qb is either going to dive into it or over it. Maybe even cut outside as a fake.

they nerfed the QB sneak because blocking in general is OP madden is a game who rules and mechanics are loosely based on football, but it is not a simulation, it is a GAME. any non-counterable (is that a word) "move" in a "game" is bad design, the QB sneak is only there because this game is loosely based on "real" football, in 18 it is not meant to be used.

Randall Young You're completely right but it still sucks. Most players just don't know that it should be used for critical moments. So rather than making people fumble when they abuse QB sneak, EA decided to limit the yardage instead. Keeps the casuals happy.

I prefer this. It's very frustrating when I'm playing great defense and they have to rely on a bad but quick quarterback to carry the ball over on 4th and 2 because I'm playing effective run D. QB Sneak is a play for players who are too lazy to bring up the close I fb dive I feel like what needs to be talked about redzone wise is how the goal line fade to your tall WR is useless no matter how short the CB covering him is

But, but what if my Oline is composed entirely of Legends and Elite Olinemen from different teams and different eras and I carefully scout my QB strength and carrying ratings????

The folks at EA need to address the cheese play issues such as doing this sneak play all the way down the field, always doing onside kicks, and always going for it on fourth down. Address these issues or let 2K sports have an NFL license.

I noticed this. Lol typical EA. Instead of fixing a play they basically break it and render it useless. Every madden a certain play type becomes useless. One year the counter run from shotgun was OP, the next its literally a pointless run play, same goes for trap runs, power runs, inside zone splits, etc. And from the first next gen Madden 25 up to Madden 18, the ball and player bodies are still not respected and they still have no idea where they are on the field. What a joke. I play Madden as to what it plays up to. I don't expect a sim experience so I'm not disappointed, frustrated but not disappointed because I know what to expect.

Neither of them looked like a real quarterback sneak.

I have to disagree. I do not play online but I was 100% with quarterback sneaks of 1 yard or less in Madden 17 with any quarterback. Now on 18 I will use it for down and inches and I'm still roughly 80-90%. It was too automatic in 17 not to mention a bit too ridiculous as to the number of yards you could get with it. Three or more yards was common on 17. Granted on 18 it does happen that the QB will drop, go untouched, and stand back up and pick up a couple yards. However, you don't see QB sneaks as much as you used to in real games. Defenses are too aware of it and pinch the center gaps. I'm not saying the don't sneak anymore, but I would wager it is down 50% from ten years ago.I understand the poster's complaint. It would be a better fix to have the defense react more appropriately to sneak situations. When you bring in a goal line package (2RB and 3TE) the AI should counter with a 4-6, 5-2, or Goal Line package. I use the goal line offense when running out the clock quite a bit, and the AI will still bring in nickel packages or be playing deep safeties. The AI needs to be better, but considering Madden's nearly single minded dedication to online play, I'm not confident we'll see major changes.

Why aren't there plays or adjustments to tell linemen to cut block?

That has nothing to do with it. I should be able to audible individual lineman to cut block or if there is a significant skill gap they should cut block to avoid being beat or they can do it to stop the d line from batting balls. Batted balls don't happen much in Madden either

It’s best to wait 1or 2 years minimum. In case you madden players haven’t noticed its an annual game comes out same time every year and not much changes. Not worth buying every year. And then for some bullshit like this. Na fuck that.. save your money ppl.

The real glaring problem is the defensive play-calling in this video. Goal-line offense vs 4-3 I mean you should have picked up more yardage actually.

Truthfully alot of games have that issue.

Why was it changed? If the qb keeps getting that much yards then it it up to the player to make defensive adjustments to stop it. It's called strategy. Is that not how football is works and is played?.

An EA game with something that's broken and gives someone an advantage? Say it ain't so my dude!

The QB sneak is stupid in madden, its been same since madden 2007... first madden I played hardcore. In real life its a pile on, the oline don't even come close to bring to life QB sneak in this game. I wanna see D and O stacked at line pushing, and strongest line wins.

I realized madden was garbage when I noticed on maddens 09-13 the players pictures were just the faces that were real and the heads where random backdrops

Tecmo Bowl with Bo Jackson. TD for days...

You can only QB sneak on 3rd and 4th down unless your only 3 yards away from your endzone.

Haha me and my cousin had and intense battle and I did a QB sneak because I knew I would fall but I just barely made it into the end zone

Normally I would use this on a 4th and inches from the goal line...it never works now, maybe 1time out of 10...awful

So whenever there is an issue that affects competitive play it is discussed/prioritized by the Dev team right? Of course they are focused on online > simulation and have been for a long time. The solution with this particular issue basically means the QB sneak play is no longer a usable play in the game for either camp. There are lots of plays that suffer this same fate. You just can't use them because they are sub-optimal or just can't be used effectively. I know my personal preference is that EA not give a damn and make it so that every play you run makes sense even if it is busted by the online community which by the way already has a set of plays for Madden 18. This is the main reason I've only purchased Madden 3 times in the last 6 years. In my experience Madden 18 is the least offensive in many ways of this, but alas the glitches and this stuff still exists and it will going forward because of EA's focus.

The 60 dislikes came from players who got cheesed by the Madden 17 QB sneak.

Wouldn’t say it’s broken , but they did tweak it down because it was very op on 4th & 1 or short... there was no way to stop it at all even if you committed the run in 17 ... I like it because it works but not 95-100% of the time.... now it’s executed ugly yes....but it cuts down the unrealistic high probability of successfully gaining that yard... any suggestions for a fix?? Since we want the game to be better??

Well in a 4-3 it should be successful. On goaline, less linebacker shifting would be a great start. On the other side, offensive players looking to push the QB forward would be welcomed.

If you run a gap A blitz in goal line it's stops the play. Squeeze in your line and run gap A blitz and it works. ALL gaps also works but leave the sweeps and power plays open

Every year we lose more control to limited auto animations and ive been hating madden the last few years

In Madden 25 they sold "run free", ever since then we've lost the ability to control our players.

And yet all these people are going to run out and buy the college game

Man, this game is terrible. I've officially abandoned Madden for now and will continue playing 2K5 with updated rosters. I was sort of okay with 16 (assuming this engine would get better somehow), 17 was worse, and 18 finally drove me away. It's not football, it's Madden.
