They did Madame Web before they should have. She is the equivalent of The Operators in The Matrix. Or like a shadow broker of information. You can't make a movie about a character who is connected to all these others without establishing the others first. They needed to build up the universe more. Make movies about the three girls first, atleast ONE. And have a madame web cliffhanger. That way when you connect this crap to the spiderman canon, it actually makes sense and its not shoehorned in with uncle ben. You don't build bridges to nowhere. You need to have something established before you create a connection. The DCU has suffered from execs getting ahead of themselves and having too much power over creative decisions...chasing dollars too many times. And this is clearly another example.

While watching this I kept thinking, I’ve seen worse and its just a mediocre movie. But then the ENDING. From the fight scene to the wheelchair reveal. I was laughing hysterically and simultaneously so confused. I couldn’t even be mad though because I was still entertained

The moment you revealed the teen girls are in their spidersuits for 5 minutes I was fully on board with the flack this movie has been getting, like I literally had to go back to make sure I heard you right lmao. Is that not false advertising?! Haven't seen it but the only thing I knew about the movie was that there were gonna be more spider-people on screen, and they don't even do that 😂

Madame Web was released with VFX shots and the sound mix being INCOMPLETE so I’m not surprised AT ALL that the boom in frame and lack of moving lips during dialogue were in the film 😂

Haven’t seen the movie and I’m early in on the pod 12:52 but I feel like they were trying to recreate the success from into the spiderverse in a live action way. I feel like it’s just the dartboard and the execs going with wherever their dart lands.

Mann, it pisses me off that I actually GET the story no matter how horrible and messy it was. I like it-I like how it made me turn off my mind for the whole runtime because I needed that. 😂 Also, maybe I'm on a roll for watching this film AFTER The Holdovers. So yeah, I actually recommend having a higher high film before or after watching this movie 😂

I enjoyed the movie. I'm here for new stories, different stories. The self-insert individual who gets powers is, as they said, "feel-good wish fufillment" that we have seen countless times. Cassie is an adult discovering her powers _after a near-death experience_ *on the job.* "I don't have time for this s-" is a realistic reaction to the events thrown at her. Friend of mine watched OG Charmed and the reboot, how the trio reacts to their powers is different; the latter doesn't struggle and accepts all hunky-dory? That said, the execution of the film is garbage. The consistent and blatant ADR was painful.

I'm honestly not up to date with the sony/marvel plans for the spider-cu but didn't venom 2 post credit confirm that venom exists in an alternate universe? Just bringing it up because they went on for a good few minutes about how madam webb can't fit into the mcu but i don't think she's supposed to? She is established to be able to see possible different possibilities for the future and is established in the comics to train spider-people multi-dimensionally (if I'm not mistaken). So it is probably just be another multiverse thing

To answer “when was this filmed?” It was filmed well before the start of January 2023 because that’s when post-sound started. So picture editing had to be in 2022 and filming had to be sometime mid-2022 or earlier Edit: according to Google they started July 2022 and wrapped by the end of the year, which makes sense

I'm really dreading Tom's Spiderman going back to Sony. I know some people had issues with his movies but at least it was narratively coherent. Also since the MCU is dealing with the whole multiverse, they might just use that excuse to have Tom's Peter in the Sony's universe.

The movie is bad. An older man in my theatre loved it. He told me it was his third time seeing it. The Wonka experience was in Glasgow, so not London or Germany

So... is her power that she can see the future, or is it more that she essentially exists in every moment in time? So she's not really astral projecting, more just tapping into whatever the "her" in that moment is seeing? That might be giving it more credit than is due but that WOULD be a cool power to explore. Maybe your "everything everywhere" comment is more prescient than you realize. 😏

Can't have charges if guardianship is given to her. The girls' parents don't give a F about them, I doubt they would contest emancipation or signing over parental rights. It's implied Cassie became their legal guardian.
