First thing I noticed is that the veterans were trying to take it at a slower pace with more distancing (a few steps, then stop, a few steps, then stop, etc), while the gamers kept zooming and bunching up. (Drewski also seemed to be a bit impatient with the pace, almost bumping into the vet he was following at times.) Also, the vets you may notice, preferred to crouch most of the time and immediately go prone in a firefight, while the gamers only switched between standing and crouching (almost never going prone) and didn't take cover very well. Now I know why people seem to think I'm too slow when I play these games myself. (Hint: vet here) I like the slower approach based on experience, and I tend to die less often, lol.

I think it's because for the gamers, there are no real consequences for having less than great opsec. Obviously, the lack of consequences are the same for the vets but - they their opsec is ingrained from experience in the real world.

I'm a gamer non-vet here but I have OCPD and you're _spot on_ lol :) It's frustrating to me in team games to see all the things my teammates "does wrong" (and even worse if it's me) but that's because of said condition. The thing is, for many it's more of "just a game" and they don't care so much about dying. So they do things that makes them easier to kill. Just think about the number of times someone will peek _THE SAME CORNER_ if you got them zeroed down; "maybe *I* will be the one to kill this enemy even though we don't even know where he is!" :P Edit: Basically; thinking 1 second ahead and not 1 minute; if having the choice, choosing a kill over survival, going back to respawn instead, even when there's a bigger chance to achieve nothing. 36:51 Great example. I expect (and hope) _nobody_ (that I care about) does this in real life. What was he thinking? I wonder. Tunnel visioned, I guess. "Ooh fighting sounds lets go there". No awareness of surroundings or the situation. Even got FF just there just a few seconds before. So TWICE the amount of stupid. (No offense/least amount of offense possible)

Yeah, I can take hours to complete a single mission in ArmA for this reason. It just doesn't play well to rush around, and I tend to crouch/sneak everywhere all the time unless moving onto the objective. First time playing multiplayer I was called out for pausing every 100 meters or so for a couple minutes to do an SA check and observe 360...was too slow for the team.

Well 16:9 is Widescreen! :D You young Whippersnappers these days, I remember how cool it was when they first came out and what an improvement they were over old 4:3! Sitting in front of my 34-inch 21:9...not the biggest, but yeah those make a big difference, especially in racing and to a degree in Flightsimming. What has made a difference there though, is mainly the much better contrast rating (4000:1) and much higher DPI (109) than my old 24-inch 16:9 screen (79). Oh and the much less blue-light, funny the screen is brighter, but it's much less straining on the eyes. And no you should not turn off the lights in the room, too hard on your eyes.

At that time people only think about deadly ennemies but there were also deadly animals on that jungle along with the deadly traps set by the ennemies. That due climbing a 50% slope hill but a 85 kg dude on his shoulders is a beast. Imagine doing this in real life!

Terrific! Really enjoyed this Drew. The one thing that the sound didnt capture (mean I got it from the video) is the mosquitoes. If you put your ground sheet over your head, they'd congregate inside and it sucked. Then again, I am slightly deaf so may be missing it. Being out there gave me the willies. You know that scene from Stones 'Platoon'? The ambush. When the flares came down they were on parachutes, and would rock to and fro, it'd look like every shadow was moving like that. I read a book once about a Union soldier in the Civil war who stabbed a tree stump with a bayonet thinking it was a Confederate. That stuff doesn't change much!
