Amazing great video! I'm shooting my KZread channel on a gopro hero 5 and this will help me step my game up! I'm going to look into this lens but its pricey on amazon.

Can i use this lens on hero 6 and hero 2018 model?

That doesn’t fit over a protective case. Do you have to change your settings when installing this lens?

Thanks for the video. It actually inspired me to buy my own macro lens set for my Gopro Hero 7. I bought a +10 Macro Lens set from Amazon and I am really happy with the way it captures (as long as I remember to clean the lens of course). 6-14"? The Hero 7 Black already focuses well around 7. I was about to get one to do closeups of coins to see dates but if you can't get closer than 6" you've changed my mind. Thanks for the review.

+Bryan Kim I don't think there really is an option for that with a standard hero cameras. However there is a company that sells modified versions of the hero 5 that allows you to attach various traditional lenses. It's a really cool set up a little pricey however. Do an internet search for backbone ribcage and that should bring up their website

It seems like it can help to have a BOKEH effect with the gopro...SUPER COOL!!!

I just got a GoPro Hero 5 black. I want to video sewing procedures which require close ups. I thought this camera would do that but I'm finding out it won't get close enough. Will this lens work for my needs? I'm using a head mount because I want the camera and viewers to see what I see while I sew and detail is very important. Great video too.

+Sandrea White The hero 5 on its own is not great for close-ups or macro. But this lens even though not perfect does improve it quite a bit

This looks useful. We're beekeepers. Yesterday I missed a chance to video one of our bees doing the Waggle Dance. I had an HD video-capable DSLR and close up filters in the house, but not with me. The Hero 5 Black was in the camera bag, too, but could have been in my jacket pocket. This may be less bother than trying to focus the DSLR for video.

Yes, I have ordered the macro lens and it will arrive in about a week. I like the look of the filters too, they may be really useful. If I like the quality of the macro lens I'll get them too. I'm a macro photographer so looking forward to trying this tiny lens. Thanks again for the review.

hey! love all the videos! have a question about this lens. Previously you've done a review on a aluminum casing for the Hero 5 black. Does this lens still fit with that casing on it? with that aluminum case I ended up purchasing it because of your video. Works great I also bought some macro lenses that are 52mm that fit on it. doesn't work too hot. so maybe this will do better!

Good video! Have you ever tried a lens like the Opteka lens (that you can find on Amazon by searching "Opteka Achromatic 10x Diopter Macro Lens")? I have one and it has the same 52mm thread size as the Luxebell cage you showed in a previous video. It has a steel surround and seems more robust than this Polar Pro one (that big exposed dome looks like it could get very easily scratched). Just wondering how the 2 compare for optical quality, potential vignetting etc.. I will try it myself but I'm having trouble getting on of those cages here in Thailand at the moment.

If you're talking about an Opteka macro lens to go on a cage like the Luxebell or Poloz cages, you need the 52mm version unless you use an adapter ring.

Are you asking about the Polar Pro lens in this video or the Opteka lens that I mentioned in my comment (which does have a 52mm model)?

Do they make a lense for the hero 5 where u can zoom in?? I recently got one and I'm wanting to use it for recording parts of my hunts.

+Klay R The only one I am aware of where that is an option is from a company that sells modified hero 5 I think the company is called ribcage. Do a Google search the modification allows you to add a huge array of traditional camera lenses but the cost is a little pricey

+Climber yes definitely once I can get my hands on it. It's probably not gonna be available in Canada until the spring. I have emailed GoPro asking if I can get it earlier somehow… Kind of a longshot. But in the meantime I hope to do a review on the Karma grip

It would be best if you made shots with objects that are commonly known in terms of object size, such as the tip of a match or lighter. I have no idea how big a pine twig or leaf is. It may not matter to someone, but it does.

Marcio Rocha This is a macro lens which means that close objects are in focus but a distant object like the sunset will be out of focus. Therefore great for flowers, insects, and other small things up close, in the range 6 to 14 inches away, but take it off for anything further away like landscapes, sunsets, etc.

That is very interesting to know, I might contact PolarPro and ask him if they have been discontinued it. Maybe sales weren’t high enough to justify the continued manufacturing of them

Yeah, they're "Out of Stock" everywhere, like most discontinued items do on the Internet. I agree that it is quite curious, because it looks like a really nifty lens. I wonder if they were asked to stop making them due to patent dispute or something. I left a remark on their Facebook page already.

Oliver / CS from PolarPro said the 24th of May. Wasn't definite about the date. Their website said in-stock and they debited my cart and then let me sit for 10 days until I emailed them. They evidently farm them out to somewhere. Just under $30. We've been seeing them from $50 to $130 around.
