A lot of hardcore fans won't even get every line. Try looking up some lyrics on Genius and tell me if you got every possible meaning there is to a verse. You can't fully react to something like that without knowing at least some of the background story.

Love your work but I feel like "reacting" to diss tracks is a lot harder than normal songs. Unless you know the back story, a lot of it will go over your head. Like in this case, MGK mentioned a lot of situations that you guys weren't aware of or didn't know about so it didn't hit home for y'all. Other than that, great work as always!

Ya'll missed so many points that MGK made ! The entire verse about Eminem being petty and blackballing MGK, not letting him do interviews with Sway on Shade 45 (a major radio station Eminem owns), about Paul Rosenberg (eminem's manager) going to interscope records and telling the higher ups to shelf his album all because MGK said his daughter was attractive. Eminem saying he was going to call up Trick Trick to handle his beef for him instead of being a man and handling it himself. Eminem going to Jimmy Iovine (the president of Interscope Records) and getting Jimmy to not promote MGK's album. There was so much real behind the scenes petty child shit that Eminem did that MGK exposed on this and I don't think you guys fully understood the gravity of some of these allegations especially in the hip hop community. Edit: I watched the video til the end and Jon did bring up these points. However I disagree with Simon saying that MGK didn't do a good job of getting these points across, Simon is just old and doesn't understand lmao Love ya'll keep up the good work

Only reason I knew what was going on was because I heard about most of this, as did most other people. You can't and won't get EVERYTHING history wise in a beef/diss track, you need to know the context and obviously Simon wouldn't know as he doesn't keep up with hip-hop and it's a first reaction calm down.

I will preface this with the fact that I agree, Eminem is one the all time greatest lyricist. That being said, my take on Rap Devil: MGK acknowledges Eminem is “greatest rapper alive” but then says all you do is .....stay inside. He’s saying, so what your great, you’re a nerd..... We all know Em is a great rapper but he is being a sensitive person behind closed doors and he stays inside like a hermit. That’s what MGK is saying imo. Eminem was pressured by his friends to diss MGK in “Not Alike”. His friends told him MGK disses him in a song with Tech-9. Eminem admitted in his interview he couldn’t even tell of it was a diss or not. Again, he claims MGK disses him in the LA Leakers freestyle. MGK just claimed he was banned by Eminem from his radio station. Never said anything bad about Eminem. Lastly, the diss on Eminem being rich and still being mad is not saying you can’t be mad and rich. He is saying that, after all of the love you get, you still don’t promote any other great white rappers (MGK would’ve liked a little help on his career) and you’re always angry and dissing everyone over small insignificant stuff. He’s always angry and acting hard. That’s my interpretation of this song. Oh and about the old age disses, he was basically saying, your acting one way but your just old and washed up. Stay out of the beef unless you really want to get down. Again my interpretation.....

The shovel is him a metaphor for that mgk is gonna bury him and if you look from the beginning of video you can see him eating that shows the kid is hungry he's coming for m&m. hints he was named after a candy mgk was named after a gangster.he saying in the past 4 albums Eminem is getting old but he is still the goat. Just to give you lads a bit of backstory, Em mentioned Kelly on his new album Kamikaze on the track Not Alike. The title explains it enough lol so this was Kelly's response.

Probably worth it to mention that Eminem’s daughter was Underage at the time of MGKs tweet, and kelly was in his 20’s

I actually liked it. I think you two missed somethings. His rapping style was more trendy and modern but I dont think it was bad. Also I loved the line saying that Em is rich but still mad. Most rappers started from rough beginnings. He has now achieved the goal of most but he still is mad. I think its different for rap than rock. We dont really see that as passion. And the age thing he is basically saying that he is past his prime. I understand him still showing respect because he knows Em is one of the best. He would be straight lying if he said otherwise. To me it all made sense as far as diss records. And I like the video. He has swag. There are so many different styles of rap. You guys have focused on more lyrical but there is also trap music and things like. All rap doesnt have to be deep or story telling. Some can just be about the right vibes, just talking shit, or just hyping yourself up. I love the mixture. My fav is Nas but I'll evolve with the culture and I'm open to new and different sounds.

And MGK is smart. He made himself super relatable to the average person trying to hustle and work hard to come up and also the younger generation. He made em sound like a bully old man who is just mad at the world. Why would he try to beat Em doing what em does best? In my opinion it was smart to use a different style that would appeal to more people and thats more current.

Here's what happened with MGK and Eminem: In 2012, Machine Gun Kelly commented on Eminem's daughter as a partial joke when he was 21 and she was 16, Eminem banned him from an event in response, he's still banned to this day so MGK dissed him in a feature on a Tech N9ne song which is why Eminem dissed him on Kamikaze so that's what got it to this point.

Back story for you guys Mgk tweeted in 2012 about Eminem’s daughter, Hailie, at the time she was 16 and Mgk was 21. Eminem banned him from Shade 45 Mgk subliminally dissed him in a Tech N9ne song 6 years later Eminem responds in “Not Alike” Mgk responds with “Rap Devil” And as of today Em went live on Instagram playing Ms Pac-Man. Most likely referencing Mgk’s Pac-Man tattoo on his neck and at the end of the insta live Em says “new song soon”

MGK is carrying that shovel , because hes about to dig his own grave.

It’s not your typical subliminal diss track where insults are tucked in. He’s literally going at him. From an unbiased fan of both artists, this was great and hip hop needed more of this.
