Really like the fit and finish. Plus the size seems just about perfect in hand

+pdorian08 It's hard to convey how comfortable this pen is on video. The fit and finish are really great (no hard angles or sharp edges from being machined). If I had to find something to nitpick if would be the lack of anything keeping the pen from rolling off the desk, although I also feel this would ruin the great ascetic and feel. I highly recommend this excellent pen!

I just got the Rick Hinderer Brass Investigator Pen and it is very nice. It has the threaded end for holding the cap while writing. It uses the Fisher SPR4B bold refill. Both pens have good qualities and are well made. I like both, but the cap issue a is big deal for my work.

Great review! Thank you! I’m super confused about that hi tec refill. Are those extinct? They aren’t the same ones in the hi tec c pens, right?

I'm not sure now-a-days, but at the time I believe those were only available from Japan. I used to buy them on a website called jetpens. I'd confirm for you but unfortunately this pen was stolen :(

It's January 2019, and I've just become aware of this fantastic and inexpensive metal-bodied pen. It holds Hi-Tec-C ink cartridges??? Really great news!! Can't wait to get my hands on it!

I got this pen as part of the same quarterly box...it's my favorite after all these years. So much so, that I'm worried about losing it! Do you know where you can buy the same model? Machine Era only has the newer model with the newer design - but I love this particular one! any tips would be appreciated!

Isnt the new one just the same with grooves instead of etchings. I wonder if they will do a sprint run without that extra cut…

I just got the Machine Era Pen NO. 2 that has a clip and the darn cap doesn't screw onto the back like the original does. Shame, as that is very important to me. Plus the you pay MUCH more for the NO. 2. A great pen otherwise.

+Gary Newell Mine got stolen.....and then they changed the design so I'm really bummed that I won't be able to replace this awesome pen.

same man, I was bummed to discover that. I got it on sale so I didn't pay much more but I was disappointed to find the cap did not attach to the back.

Do your hands smell at all? This is my only concern.

Ever so slightly, but in the pens defense I have not found an uncoated brass product not to have a slight brass smell

does it have a off-putting metallic smell that rubs off on your hands?

I'm not too sensitive to that, but I think if you are, then you will probably notice it. If you've handled anything brass before then you know what you're in for. Hope that helps!
