Taken from Primates | Episode 1
Monkeys, lemurs, lorises, bush babies and, of course, the great apes. Countless faces, one remarkable animal family. Engrossing new stories combine family drama with the latest science. On Congo’s volcanic slopes, we meet an apparently fearsome silverback mountain gorilla, who turns out to be a gentle and attentive father to his young. Cutting-edge research indicates that caring fathers are the most successful silverbacks. In South Africa, we join an elusive and diminutive lesser bush baby from a newly discovered urban population, on a night-time raid of the city zoo. In Malaysia, we experience a Lar Gibbons’ canopy world from their perspective, in a filming first. From snow-capped mountains to the hottest deserts, and from the most remote, unexplored landscapes to the very heart of our modern world, Primates is the ultimate, definitive celebration of our very own animal family.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Imagine how confusing this must be for a squirrel. If you're a squirrel, there are two kinds of animals - animals that want to kill you, and animals that ignore you. And here comes this smartass monkey, who just walks up to you and slaps you in the face. The squirrels must find this very surreal.

these sounds are not the actual sounds. they're just added in post to make the whole video more immersive. This is called "foley", a technique usually employed in movies. For example, they add galloping sound to a scene showing a running horse. Though you can't see any microphone in the scene, it is as if there's a microphone somewhere to record a galloping but in reality there really isn't any. And the galloping sound you hear is just an artificially made sound made by a foley artist.

Malabar Giant Squirrels are common enough here and so damn cute 🥺 Lion tailed macaques are endangered though. Especially since they move around in troops and much of their habitat is fragmented due to construction of roads through the ghats, many die due to roadkills. There are NGOs employing people to stop vehicles and guide macaques across the road but there doesn't seem to be a long term solution. Although the ropeways do help them cross roads without getting in the way of incoming traffic. But it's still concerning to see them increasingly scavenging for food by the roadside.

@@sshep86 my cat did the same and I have given it to my friend. He got its testicle cut down by vat. After that the cat become very lazy and stopped taking interest in anything. I cannot imagine that the very same hyper active violent cat is very humble, nice and polite. She is not killing any animal or birds, even if they are walking in front. She is too lazy to do that. Before she was just killing for fun and to play. So if you have any cat who kill and harm other wildlife. Please take her to a visit to the vet and get her neutralized. She will forget how to kill.

The monkeys are not small, its the squirrels that are huge. They are called Malabar Giant Squirrels. The bullies are Lion Tailed Macaques. It looks like this is somewhere in the Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu region of the Western Ghats. These macaques are only found in and around the mountains jungles there.
