I had one birthday party at McDonald's. February 18th, 1989. It was fun for what it was worth, having my mom and invited school friends over. As we got to the presents I quietly had hoped for one thing: Super Mario Bros. 2 on NES. Every last present opened, no SMB2, but I did get Spy Hunter, so it wasn't a total loss...UNTIL, mom pulled out one last surprise present and low 'n behold it was SUPER MARIO BROS. 2! I freaked. Good times at 7 years of age. I love you mom. Miss you.

I LOVE the concept of this new series. That is what the streaming generation is missing; a community brought together in real life by the love of movies. Comments sections and IMDB ratings do not replace the feeling of bonding with other people over your favorite moments in a safe, fun, engaging environment. I hope we have more outlets like this in the real world in the future, but until then, I am happy to watch the entertaining guys at Cinemassacre do what I love to do and love to watch them do; have fun talking about movies.

I don't recall this every happening in real life. Video store staff might talk among themselves, but they'd usually scowl at you if you attempted conversation. Like you were weird for acting like strangers were your friends. Also they had work to do.

Wtf I loved The Philadelphia Experiment as a kid.

The crew could have just done a review on a couch, but instead they went to the effort of converting a basement into a video rental store from the 80's, complete with old school computers and VHS tapes. That's truly dedication, and it's well worth the effort. Really makes you nostalgic, and the setup of a clerk and his friends just shooting the breeze is amazing.

Ah yes, Paul Rudd's favorite movie.

6:49 - Those scenes in THIS flick with the alien family together on the desolate home planet sort of reminded me of The Man Who Fell To Earth. There are similar scenes in THAT other movie.

OMG... I remember renting the VHS tape of "Mac and Me" in the late 80's!!!! My whole family thought it was THE WORST movie ever made. We watched the whole thing, as a familial torture experiment. I'm soo happy you guys saw it too!

I can't believe how great of a fit for a video rental store James' basement was. It made the video feel like the scenes in the movie Clerks where the characters discuss movies the blockbuster-like store one of them works in.

I remember during the 80s going to the video store with my mom and dad to rent movies. As a little boy I enjoyed sci-fi films. So naturally when ET came out, i wanted to see it. They were out of ET copies and I was devastated. Leaving the store, the owner who was good friends with my dad, handed him a movie and said that "it was ET". Get home pop it in the vcr and my dad is like "what in the hell is this?" He never thought twice to look @ the title before he left the store. It was in fact Mac n Me. I watched it and til this day I swore I was the only person that saw that weird ass movie.

The Berenstein Universe has delivered us a package...

I saw this a lot when I was a kid. I remember it being pretty bizarre at times. I always thought the scene where the kid experiences a terrifying moment in his room where he wants to turn the tv off. He un-plugs the TV but it doesn't turn off. He is scared so he calls his mom in and tries showing her that when the TV is on and he un-plugs it stays on(but doesn't tell her what happened). But when he tries it, the tv just turns off and back on when he plugs it in. She looks at him like a nut case and says, "That's very good..." I always thought that part was hilarious.

Fun fact: In the japanese cut (the original one, technically) the kid *did* get shot. Wikipedia says it was a stray bullet but I'm pretty damn sure that cop knew what he was doing.

My_hat_is_Mayor The chat mentioned it once during a PreRec episode but Mike had no idea who James was and only Rich or Jay knew about the movie but they weren’t really interested.
