Saw that smudge on the palm rest disappear live on camera. Almost makes it worth upgrading from my M2 just for that! 😂

Haha it’s insane how they made it work! I do wonder if that coating will wear off over time though

I actually just traded in my M2 15 in MacBook air and got the 13 inch M3. I'm that wierdo that thought the 15 inch was just too big. It was not comfortable to type on and I hated the starlight color. I upgraded my memory to 512 and changed to that beautiful midnight color. I LOVE the 13 and am so happy I made the change.

@@allnations360 You could, I wouldn't be able to use the 256 but if you can and you don't see yourself downloading a bunch of apps then go for it!

Nice video. Base model devices hold their value the best. It is rare to get that $200 RAM upgrade value back if you try to sell it in a year. That being said, if you are a person that wants to keep their device for half a decade or more then the RAM upgrade is almost a must.

Yeah for sure, personally I like upgrading so usually the base model is what I go for!

I have my M2 a few weeks before the M3 came 🤣🤣but I don´t feel trap at all this machine is capable even for light video editing and I use the base model and it works perfectly.

Haha that's very true! I think they both look great, I got the 14 inch in space black and I think that one is probably my favorite color but lets be honest, they're all awesome

I wouldn't recommend anyone to buy a computer with less than 16GB of RAM this year.

Having used the 8gig model it’s totally fine. It won’t be fine for super long but for most people they’d be fine with it.

I am upgrading from an intel MBA. I just ordered a 15 inch Starlight MBA last night. I wish I watched your videos before buying. I might have ordered the midnight instead 😢

Haha it’s all good, that starlight looks awesome as well! Apple does have a no questions asked two week return policy if you want to exchange it though!

Hi Jon! Really great video! I'm a pro photographer with a Mac Studio M2 MAX 32GB/2TB, which I really like.I have more and more destination weddings and I really want a machine that I can use to copy and start sorting pictures (weddings) and maybe start using LrC while I'm waiting at the airport or hotel. I always do the entire image processing on Mac Studio. Practically, my annual level would need it 4-6 times for works that are a bit pro use. Which actually means that I would use a MacBook almost only then. I'm vacillating between the 13”Macbook Air M3 16GB/1TB and the 14” Macbook Pro M3 PRO 18GB/1TB. What draws my heart towards the Macbook pro is the cooling, and I can probably use it for this purpose for several years. What draws my heart towards the Macbook Air is its small, handy, portability, and for the purpose I need/would have in the coming years, it may be enough and therefore the price is quite favorable to it. What do YOU think, which one would you choose for such use? What worries me is the heating, the question is, how hot does it get when used in this way? The question that arises from this is how it is possible that in later years 1-2 whole weddings would be completed with the Macbook, the question is how much this process burdens you and does it heat up the machine?

Definitely go with the 14 pro. Since you’re a professional, you’ll make that money back and it’s a tax write off depending on what laws look like where you live. So definitely go 14 pro!

Also just having that sd card slot on the side is worth it alone to upgrade to the 14

​@@JonAdamsTech Yes, it has a card slot, but I can solve this with an external card reader, of course you always have to carry it with you. However, is it really worth the extra money to copy and organize the images? Where I live, I cannot reclaim the tax with this form of business. It's hard to decide because each one has its own advantages and disadvantages :)

Haha I feel ya on that! Let me know what you decide but I’d still go with the 14, getting to a shoot (especially a destination wedding) and forgetting a dongle is a nightmare!

Got the silver 15 inch with 16GB memory and 512GB. Yes, I could have got a Pro, but I want that big screen and my workload isn't too taxing. I mean, I save the intensive stuff for the M1 Mac mini I've been using for three years.

@@JonAdamsTech honestly, it is. It’s handled the productivity stuff great but it’s also been great with any of the intensive workload like video editing and audio work compared to the MacBook I had. I was on an Intel MacBook Pro, the last 13 inch of the Intel era actually. It was still going fine but the fan noise started at basic stuff and on one occasion, it actually managed to overheat, crash, and shut down. It survived overheating but I never had this with the Mac mini. Ironically, this happened the weekend before the M3 MacBook Airs were revealed, so I pre-ordered right away. The Air came yesterday and I have no regrets, and that’s coming from someone who questioned the fanless design of the M1 Air.

@@JonAdamsTech ironically, I was using Chrome because some sites I needed for university wouldn’t open on Safari 😂 but I think it still eats battery. Edge is probably a bit better and Firefox is good too.

I own a mac air 15 inch bought few days back by the launch of m3 and i got it for 1100 should i return my laptop and upgrade for the mac air m3 ?? Please anyone suggest me

It fades away from view after like 10 min of using the computer. I seriously haven’t noticed it once since about a week after they released the original notch. Would look way better without it though!
