  • @janisbrod

    @janisbrod

    4 жыл бұрын

    I'd totally recommend this combo, as long as you don't go wider than 50mm. The only thing I missed during my trip was a clamp with rod support, it did misalign itself from time to time. But I ordered a Rapido V3 clamp right after we came back and now it's very solid.

    Very nice. Did you use an ND Filter?

  • @janisbrod

    @janisbrod

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! Of course I did, I used the Tiffen variable ND. But it's not that great to be honest, there are definitely better ND-faders out there these days. My two main complaints are that it doesn't have hard stops so it's easy to go beyond the maximum and it doesn't have a filter thread in the front, so you can't put a cap on it. Also, it tends to make the colors somewhat brownish...

  • @janisbrod

    @janisbrod

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thanks! I wouldn't say it's _necessary_ but it definitely helps (since it has two support points then). The alternative would be only the V3 clamp and then another universal lens support in the front. But I guess the FMJ is a much more sleek and less "frankensteiney" setup.

  • @janisbrod

    Just use simple 2.39:1 frame guides on your monitor and then crop in post accordingly. You'll always get the wider 2.66:1 aspect ratio (which your video is) when shooting with a 2x anamorphic lens on a 4:3 sensor. That's pretty standard and it's the same way on most professional film sets that shoot with anamorphics on the Alexa or classic 4-perf film. But the 2.39:1 aspect ratio is a much more common final format for cinema, so I just framed for that (using frame guides) and then had a 2.39:1 timeline for the edit (which cropped off a bit on both sides of the footage).
