M-Audio M-Track Solo - Unbox and Workout
Музыка
In this episode I'll take a look at the ultra-cheap M-Audio M-Track Solo. This entry-level interface comes in at the $50 mark, making it a direct competitor to the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22. How does it perform? Let's take a look!

I love how you make a song to demonstrate the various instrument and input functions of the interface instead of just talking about it. Very good.
This has gotta be the best review on audio equipment out there. Thank you for this. You are so underrated! You deserve a million subs!
Man .. I just fell in love how well you just demonstrated tgis product... Almost in every poosible way we could use our audio interface
Fantastic tutorial , great job and a cool song. Thank you so much for this video.
very detailed review and i love how you demonstrate everything- from installing the software to actually using different instruments and mics! thank u so much for this! very high quality and very informative, it’ll definitely help me out a lot since i just bought the interface and have never used one before!
Absolutely loved the video. It certainly deserves more views! Very useful indeed!
You wrote an excellent tune. I love the harmonies and the groove.
Best and Detailed review of this one does not existed until yours man !! You are surely underrated.
Good... the best m-audio m-track sólo explain and unboxing!!
Ordered this for my wife. Glad to see it will do the trick Great jam you got there! Thanks for this review
Yo tengo una Track Duo; y después de haber recorrido muchos videos, este es sin duda el mejor que he visto sobre la M-Audio Track; felicidades por el trabajo, la canción graciosa y excelente.
I'm getting one of these for christmas, I really need it for streaming and music, thank you for making this video 👌🏻👌🏻
That was extremely well done, love the song!
Awesome job with this review man! Thank you!
Great job, man! Congratulations!!!
LOVE THE INTRO. Very useful review for a bassist like me
love this review! Just a quick real world application.
Helped me out a lot, thanks. I was having latency issues and now I know why.
this is the best review ever thx
I was looking for some help with setting up my M-Audio. What I didn’t expect was to find my new favourite KZread channel. I’m floored by your humility and warmth in your approach to teaching us. This is a 30 minute video and the time flew by. It’s like having a friend explain it to you. Thanks for your help and kindness.
Very helpful review sir! Great job!
Wow this is a great review and help me understand so many things. Thank you so much for this great video
Excelente video, muchas gracias!
Thanks. I wrote a song in 1970 and recording it and tossing it onto KZread is on my bucket list.
This is exactly the kind of video I was seeking! Every body just goes on talking features but no one does this lol
Love the vocals!!
very nice - straightforward and easily understood, with no gimmicks. you've got some great gear there, lucky man! you're a bit of a sleeper genius...
Thank you very much for this extensive review! I'm a beginner in all these and bought this model instead of an amp to play my brand new guitar! It's just for hobby/have some fun so it will be perfect! And I really loved the song! 😁🎸
That was one sure test . Exactly answered all my questions. Did not know you could input signals without an amp. Have always used an amp in the past.
dude that song was fine. thanks for the unboxing
Best review. Thank you for your time.
Amazing dude! great artist btw!
Your song has almost studio quality and I mean the interface even gives the whole thing a vintage touch :) Sounds really convincing!
Excellent review and song, as always! That knob for Input 1 is like the knob of my shower, you are either freezing or boiling alive.

What a great simile. "Like the knob on my shower, either freezing or boiling alive." I'm gonna steal it! 🙂
I like your review techniques.
Best review ever
Amazing review
Well done YHRS. The song was a cool tool too. Oh, the harmonies - ACE! The interface...well cheap as chips and twice as oily.
Thank you for this video
Hahahaaa... I love this! I watched for M-Audio setup but I forgot M-Audio. Your melody is really good
Thanks a lot for this!!!
This guy is great, thumbs up 😊
wow amazing work. experts doesn't blame machines.
Thanks for this great video! I bougth a M-TRACK Duo after watch your video.
Thanks you, this video helped like crazy.
Great review 👌
This is real unboxing 👍❤
just what I needed :)
Man, made a whole song just testing a new product lol I liked that song. Thank you.
Thank you!! very nice review.
I was playing my guitar with a lot of lag, tks man, hugs from Brazil
M-Track Solo + Klark Teknik CM1 + SM58 Probably the most cost effective set up I've ever had. Also, another thing the M-Track Solo has over the Behringer interface is that the phantom power switch is at the front. :v
You did these things in a very funny way!
Great intro!
Thanks for the video
Well presented :)
Great review.
Great real world review thank you, on the touchy knobs the Ultragain Pro-8 Digital ADA8000 has the same kinda thing going on at the end of the pot. you will find this is the case with cheaper gear, try it on some of your older gear you probably never noticed it, but because the headphone output level was low on that "M-Track Solo" you cranked the input up. Anyway it looked a good bit of gear for the price :)
Only video I've found in the last 2 hours which takes me from having a guitar and DAW to playing on it. No one online has a tutorial like this
Hey hi thanks for the very in depth video of this product , i have the um-22 as well and on Chromebook and ipad iOS it just stopped working . Well I just ordered the m-audio from Sweetwater should be here tomorrow plus I got a Lenovo ryzen5 from my son in-law and installed cakewalk/ bandlab to give it a shot again thank you as I’m sure I’m going to use your video as a reference tomorrow setting everything thing up for windows 11 as I watched other videos were people are saying 11 is more audio production more friendly than 10, thumbs up and subbed 😊
The best demonstration how the product works with different gears. I think this product is good for beginners like me. Any words?
Good Review!
Great review!! I also have this one
damn dude, at first i thought, ok lets watch another of those "reviews" out there and see if it gives me sth.... turns out it is the best review out there.. and even more. you created such a good song with this budget interface and kinda show that you dont need the most possibe expensive high end equipment out there to create great music. i love this video, this song and will recommend this video to anyone who wants to know sth about this interface. keep this up i really love your way of "reviewing" 💜

Muchas gracias
This is a very cool review. You used dynamic, condenser and ribbon mics. Bass, acoustic, electric, midi… Thank you!
Very nice.
that intro song dope🔥🔥🥲
You did not waste 30 minutes of my life 😅 Thank you for this video. Love from 🇵🇭 🎸
thanks sir....thanks alot
Thank you!
Nice job with the track. Very polished. Surprised by the quality of the audio coming out of the M-Track. Sounded decent. Might just be the thing to stick in my backpack when I go out. Having said all that, I've just switched to MacOS and an M1 MacBook Pro after being a Windows user for like forever. First thing I've tried was my trusty Fast Track Pro interface with Reaper, Garage Band and Audacity - no dice with any of them. Interface shows up as a USB audio device but no bueno with any audio software thus far. Kinda bummed by that, which is why I've ended up here hoping that the M-Track might be the solution. At least it looks like it may be supported by macOS Monterey.
Great review just one point I have. The fact that behringer uses asio4all maybe considered a good think. Also behringer can always make a driver available if needed. Support by asio4all is probably a lot more dynamic than m-audio ;)
Hello, this was an amazing review, I want to ask if there was any latency while playing the electric guitar? ( latency between the guitar and the line output/guitar amp). Also, the track duo version has quarter-inch outputs so you can directly connect it to your guitar amp's input.
wow! nice
I bought an M-Audio M-Track Solo after my Rocksmith truetone lead turned out not be recognised by any plugin or draw .I watched this video in the time in-between ordering and receiving ..1 day.. and you inspired me those Beatle style backing vocals ..if I hadn't already purchased it I would now...I cant wait to try it

Hi, I'm getting this next week (I'm getting the Duo), and I just wanted to ask if the licensing for the included software can be used multiple times? I'm currently on a Windows PC that I've been meaning to upgrade for a long time, and I've decided to switch and buy a new Mac later this year. Will I be able to transfer the license to that new machine? Or should I just save the licenses until I get a new computer?
thank you for the best review. i'm using m-track solo and still got the latency (like 2 seconds!) especially with electric guitar.
@YHRS
Жыл бұрын
Wow, that is a lot of latency. My first guess would be to double-check the ASIO buffer settings and see how low of a setting you can get away with (like 64 or 128 samples).

@@tonmaychakraborty6642 Between the M-Track and the UM2, I'd go with the M-Track. But if you mean the UMC22, then I'd say it's a toss-up. They're pretty similar to each other, and they'd both work great as a first interface.
9 months ago I was going to go with this interface until the minifies 1 realeased and I just knew that was the route to go instead of buying the m audio
Um looking at getting a used one from amazon but can I still D.L. the drivers on previous used ine? Or should I not worry to much about that this would be my first audio interface.
Incredible content. I love your videos! I watched some videos and noticed that you have some Beatles and Guns 'n Roses influences. I am right? Thanks you for the amazing content. See ya!
Great tutorial! But would you tell me how you got those audio recordings together with the video (26:46) in order to playback them simultanously? Does it take another programme??
@YHRS

I use Davinci Resolve to put together my videos. The music video part is always the most difficult part, getting everything lined up and cutting between the clips is time-consuming. Resolve is free, but a little complicated. There are also several other free and inexpensive options out there for video editing.
how do you set the Gain knob when connected to the Keyboard?? is the keyboard volume raised or the gain on Mtrack raised??
Awesome review. Looping how ur doing I looking to it .
Do the drivers for this interface allow me to hear the audio from the DAW and the PC audio at the same time? I've used interfaces that used the ASIO4ALL driver and it wouldn't let me hear both.
How did you get such crystal sound of guitar? My is kind of messy and probably a little bit like being put in a water
Hi there, Which software do you use on your pc in this video ? Thanks in advance . Regards, Ko
After watching most of this I want to get the band back together! But the RCA plugs on the back seem a bit limiting as you say
Awesome review mate wow. I simply want to record my bass guitar from my DI out on my head. Would I be able to run my bass, DI'd from my amp, into the interface? Then run the interface out to my PC, and play a song on the PC and just monitor it all with some headphones while I play and record? Is that generally how it works? Cheers mate, sorry I'm new to all this. Getting sick of using my webcam/phone
@YHRS
Жыл бұрын
Thanks! You can definitely run a DI out from the amp if it has one (but only the DI, not the amplified signal from the speaker jack). You can run that into one of the line inputs on the M-Track and have it play through your computer via USB. It's a little less definitive whether or not you can then simultaneously play bass through your DAW and also from another application like Media Player or a browser. That works for some people, but not for others when you're dealing with ASIO drivers in Windows. I usually don't have any issues doing just that, but I hear a lot of complaints from people that aren't able to do it. Honestly I'm not sure what the difference is between how I'm doing it and how they are.
I’ve installed an active pickup in my acoustic guitar, can I directly plug it into this interface to do recording
Hey! Awesome video! I have a few questions if someone can help me: 1. I'm planning on using this to play guitar and listen to songs (any computer audio really) while I play using my headphones and only the headphones. Is this a viable choice, or is there another kind of device (not an audio interface?) for this purpose? 2. While on "direct monitoring" mode you can only hear the instrument/mic or you can also hear the computer audio? 3. You got pretty negligible (or zero) latency not using the direct mode on the device, but using the reaper monitoring. Is this because of some other device you own or that's to be expected? 4. My computer speakers are not pro and only have one 1/8th output, connected to the computer itself. Does that mean I can either use the interface with my headphones OR the computer speakers, but not both at the same time? (Thinking about when I stop playing and just want to watch some youtube or something) Thanks in advance!

A lot of amps have another input that you could plug any MP3 player in and play songs through your amp while you play, and use your amp's headphone jack. If you have the right cable (male to male) you could also go from your computer's headphone jack to the amp's input and play music from your computer into the amp, though it will take all the sound from your computer through it. And for your questions 1. yes 2. no you can hear everything 3. no special programs ASIO drivers are just low latency, but this WILL depend on how good your computer's CPU is, but as long as your computer was made after the year 2008 it should be fine. 4. You can get an adaptor, but you can also just plug your speakers into your computers output and it will be fine.
How is the latency?
Hi, I purchased the M audio interface a couple of days ago I managed to get it set up after messing about as I haven't used this stuff before I have the m beats application on it seems to show the midi keyboard when it opens on the screen. Is this app okay for use with my guitar and microphone as I said I'm just learning this stuff I haven't tested it yet as I had to mess around for a while to get the apps set up I also bought a Marantz MPM 1000 XLR microphone I hope it works okay cost me £42 ! The female XLR socket on the interface looks kinda weird the one on my fender amp shows the 3 pin holes can't see the ones on the interface but the mike seems to fit okay . I play a Fender villager 12 string and a Fender CD60-CSE 6 string just need to get used to this recording stuff !! anyway enjoyed the video thanks Andy, Glasgow 🥰🤩🏴🏴
Hi I’m wondering what the best gain level is for the microphone and headphones
Just purchased the M-Audio Duo. I know not what I’m doing, lol. This helps a bit. But…the Duo must have heard you because all the inputs and outputs are now 1/4”. Right now, I’m just trying to figure out how to plug it in and still use my computer so I can watch (and listen) to the support videos while it’s plugged in. I also downloaded the DAW that came with it, but I may want to switch to Reaper. I’m a complete novice when it comes to DAWs and the one that came with it is so dark I can’t see wtf I’m doing.
Thank you very much for your video! I´m thinking about buying this interace, but there are 2 questions...perhaps you can help me out with them? First: Is it possible to plug my mic (a SM58) to Line 2 with an XLR to jack cable, or can I only use XLR to XLR cable? And second: Will this audio interface work with audacity? I wish you a great day! Best greetings from Germany! :-)

A dynamic mic would technically work if adapted and plugged into the instrument input, but the results wouldn't be great. Signal strength would be really low, and you might lose some high frequency detail due to the impedance mismatch. If you're looking to plug 2 microphones in, I'd highly recommend the M-Track Duo instead. The interface will work with Audacity, as will any interface. But do note that Audacity doesn't support ASIO in Windows, so getting low-latency performance will be a problem. If you're on Mac, that's fine since you don't need drivers. But in Windows, I'd recommend using a DAW that supports ASIO so you can take advantage of the low-latency when recording and playing back. Cheers, best of luck finding the right device for your needs!
I just need a thing to connect my home theatre system to get good sound for movies can i use it? To connect my home theatre with rca cable?
Hey! Thanks for ur review! Can I ask if you would recommend this audio interface to someone who would use it only for podcasts/ microphones?
@YHRS
Жыл бұрын
I think that it'd work fine for a solo podcast. The one caveat is that a podcaster is likely to use broadcast-style dynamic microphones, which tend to require quite a bit of input gain. The M-Track seems to have enough gain for this, but the touchy gain knob might be annoying since you'll have it close to max gain with those types of microphones.
Great Vid....How about the dual M- Audio any better on the output gain?

I haven't used the Duo, but it appears to be the exact same components but in a 2-input format. I'm assuming that it would behave the same, as it appears to have the same preamps in it. Hope that helps!
Can you get your advice: I have a problem I hear cracklin sound when I do recordin with this card, why it could be and is there ideas how to resolve? thanks
