Lynyrd Skynyrd-Cottonmouth Country

Музыка

Recorded during the Nuthin' Fancy sessions. Here's the only known unreleased studio recording by the original Skynyrd. The song is unfinished, and you can hear an annoyed Ronnie Van Zant yell "Cut" at the end of the song. Great song that would have fit right in on Nuthin' Fancy.

I wish I had a time machine and I would go back to the 70's and hang with a bunch of heads the day the new Stones album came out or the day the new Skynyrd album came out, etc. Back when you had to go get it at the store. Would be a great time. Bell bottoms and super hair. And that sweet, sweet 70's music

This is Lynyrd Skynyrd folks💯 there are alot more songs released that got no airplay. This band is NOT just from the South! This band rates up with any band from America period! 💯🇺🇸. What other band's music has been played at funerals, weddings and ect. than Lynyrd Skynyrd? Being from the south (Nashville TN), I can say this, We All lost 2 of the best musicians in 1977.. Elvis Presley on August 12th 1977 and Ronnie Van Zant on October 20th 1977. I was 17. I cried at both days and felt my world had seriously changed forever and it did. 😪 thanks for releasing this song. It means alot🕊🎸💯❤

@@brushstroke3733 People talk about Steve Gaines as though there was no Skynyrd before his arrival. He was spectacular, but only with them about 15 months, only recorded one studio album with them, and didn't play on half of their live album because they didn't have time to work him into all of the songs. When Steve joined, Skynyrd already had gold albums and hit singles. They provided a platform for him to show his stuff on the world stage, that he might not have gotten if not for the band that sweated it out for 7 years at Hell House. Steve never saw the inside of that place.

Actually NOT from the Nuthin' Fancy sessions. This treasure was recorded in 1970 at the original Muscle Shoals Sound Studios at 3614 Jackson Highway in Sheffield, Alabama. They were still shopping for a record deal at this point. These sessions also produced the original Free Bird as heard on Collectybles (despite what its liner notes say), Junkie, Hide Your Face, He's Alive, Michelle, Need All My Friends, and Bad Boy Blues. Alas engineer Rick Hall, trying to find a deal for the band, was adamant about Free Bird being a single and about it not being trimmed in length. No record companies would sign them in 1970 under those terms and Skynyrd went down to Doraville to try their luck. The rest is history.

Ed King just posted this on Facebook: "Somebody wrote to me today about a bootleg track called COTTONMOUTH COUNTRY. That tune was recorded in the studio on the same day SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL was finished and it's on the same master tape which can't be located. It started out with my bass riff (I'm playing bass, not Leon), then Gary put his part on top and Ronnie started coming up with lyrics right on the spot. Ronnie said "cut cut" because Allen had made a chord mistake on the second chorus. We never went back to it." So it would appear that it was recorded in Doraville, GA along with SNS in Aug 74. The rest of the Nuthin Fancy sessions were January 75 in Atlanta. That is unless SNS was actually recorded much earlier than the Aug 74 date that it's credited with. facebook.com/ed.king.52687/posts/10154920565589185
