Great...simple showing...simple is best. I have had tender nodes at my posterior cervical since "post CoVid Disease". wondering how long they'll actually be affected....it's now post ~7+months. I have begun "intermittent fasting" and 24 hour fasting - once weekly...and I'm noticing a slight decrease now after 3 weeks of this protocol. I think...logically...that my body is trying to reset itself...and needs a metabolic rest from: eating, digesting...and fighting....whatever it is/was that I was fighting amoungst the antigenic battles that it had been fighting. Plus...I'm getting "buff" again. What "say yee....anyone?"

I don't think that's true, you can't see the lymph nodes from the posterior side. The only thing we really palpate from the back is the thyroid.

hey, I'm really confused. I went for a bloodtest thinking that I had inflamed lymph nodes. Everything came back clear. But now I realize that the lumps I have aren't in a single spot where there are lymph nodes. There's a pulling sensation in my neck when I move it to the side. Sometimes my neck and shoulders are painful. Could this be an injury?

Hello Dr. I have been able to feel a lymphnode in the posterior cervical area since I was a child. I've had an MRI done when I was 17 and everything came back ok. Here lately at the age of 34 I have been experiencing a lot of neck tension and tightness and tender around the node now. I know you can't diagnose me, but I'm curious to hear your perspective. I'm feeling a little anxious. Thank you for any insight.

@@watchmen1 Oh hi again @WatchMen, I just responded to your other comment. This must be an important concern of yours if you've now posted twice. I thought the first was just a misunderstanding, but I can tell from the tone of this comment that you are not happy about something. It seems to be surrounding the term "Provider". Under federal regulations, a "health care provider" is defined as: a doctor of medicine or osteopathy, podiatrist, dentist, chiropractor, clinical psychologist, optometrist, nurse practitioner, nurse-midwife, or a clinical social worker who is authorized to practice by the State and performing within the scope of their practice as defined by State law. I hope that clears it up for you. Aloha

My neck is swollen right now. I think I have an infection from a loose tooth that had bled(it took forever to get infected tho). The pain is on only the right side of my face (where the tooth is)and it extends to my ride side of the tongue(looks like lie bumps) and of course my right side of neck. The whole right side feels tender. I've examined myself in the mirror and I only can see some sort of lesion right next to the saliva gland thing that is very, very small. I am having a hard time understanding how to feel enlarged lymph nodes lol because the one I feel on my neck, the swollen 'thing' is really, really big and reminds me of a bruise in the making in all honesty. I have bad breath also but I believe it's not from cancer, but from me not brushing my teeth (blush). I haven't taken care of my teeth. Is it an infection or something worse? Been going on for three or four days, now.

Well, my dad doesn't think I do. Sucks being dependent. It's gone a bit down by now(the swollen gums/ bumps on tongue/pain) but it comes back whenever something upsets that lost tooth (like food or drink). I can tell it is all related to nerve pain from my tooth. My neck is no longer swelling up and is normal. Due to clinical depression, I hardly ever brushed my teeth for years(only brushed when my teeth would hurt cuz it scared me enough). Thanks for responding. I have an appointment with someone in February so I'll talk to her about it.

+Muhammad Berki Aloha Muhammad! Thanks for watching. You might be confusing this with the thyroid examination which can be evaluated using a posterior approach. To inspect the lymph nodes of the neck, you'll want to be in front of the patient as demonstrated.Palpation of the cervical nodes can be done anterior or posterior but it is easier for practicing clinicians to see what and where they palpating. Thanks for watching!

+ahmed amro Aloha Ahmed, you are correct, inspection should occur from the front. Palpation of the cervical lymph nodes could take an anterior or posterior approach.
