The prices are ridiculous. LV and most luxury houses need to feel the effect of the economy and jolt the multiple times a year price increases but unfortunately the rich people with real money are usually not that affected by the economy and will still buy. I’m to the point where I have luxury goods and could care less about wearing them or using them. I’ve grown past the “got to have it, it’s all I can wear” phase in my 20’s and 30’s. I could care less now, have been carrying the same Tory Burch cross body since 2020 almost exclusively and haven’t dressed up to wear designer shoes and jewelry in ages. I’d rather see the money in my bank account than aging out of style in my closet. I do understand for people who don’t own any luxury the desire but as you grow and mature the desire wains and you also realize you don’t need something from every new release because it’s just not necessary.

But I think that’s the point. Because of KZread and Instagram “influencers” , everyone and their grandma has LV. Even people who can’t afford it, driving old Toyota are buying. So it doesn’t make them exclusive anymore to the wealthy.

People can tell…a lot of people with money don’t even care about the latest, trendy luxury item or any luxury brands for that matter. If they do, most people with real wealth do t flash and advertise it. I personally am over the influencers. I don’t trust their opinion, they push products as the best ever for a pay day. I’m not saying it’s easy work to film a video, edit, upload or take some pics and write an Instagram post but it is. It’s a lot easier then being held hostage somewhere between the same hours everyday and having to actually show output to your boss to keep your job. Influencers have been making easy money, get gifted items, and live a fake luxury lifestyle long enough off our hard earned money. I’m ready for that fad to be over.

Just ridiculous! My very first LV pieces are over 30 years old and I love them ❤️ they are fantastic quality and I swear my small holdall was around $1000, I think. I haven't been overly gentle with it but it's like new. The quality simply isn't up to par today yet the price tag is vast! I love and admire anybody who is willing to say "enough!" And doesn't follow blindly simply because a bag has LV stamped all over it!💕💓

That's crazy! I got the Mini Pochette in March of 2019 for $310. There is NO way I would pay $745. I had to go to the site just to see it myself. My goodness!!!

LV is definitely hitting a price ceiling with the mini pochette. It’s always available online and resellers are selling like new/excellent condition ones for way below retail because otherwise, they won’t sell.

I'm glad I got all my LV pieces before all of these ridiculous price increases. Insane.

I am truly disappointed in LV. I think they are raising their prices above what regular people feel they can splurge on. I have all the basic pieces and would never re-buy the mini pochette with a chain. I bought it when it was $310 and have all three canvasses. I’d rather buy a pouch from your collaboration that you showed in a solid leather color.

Well, there you go. That’s the point: LV was never created for regular people. The company ( and several other luxury brands) are raising their prices in order to preserve the exclusivity of the brand by keeping it too expensive for regular folks.

I remember I bought the mini pochette for I think $250 or $275 back in 2010. It was definitely under $300. I have been using mine as well as a crossbody as a football game bag.

Fantastic video. I agree the pricing is MADNESS. as you've rightly pointed out, they're not even trying 2 be creative. I swear that my pouchet (the bigger one) cost less than $300 back in the day...I went into the store to inquire about the cost of a leather strap and was shocked to see the prices of some of their current items..

Can’t stop laughing about these prices. All of the fashion houses prices are mind boggling. I hope to see a medium rose violet pochette coming in the future 😍

I absolutely LOVE my coach Nolita 15 and 19! High quality and great pricing. I would never pay 800 for a piece of coated canvas. I have found that the hardware on my LV tarnished easily too. For the prices they charge, that should not happen. I have my pochette Métis but I don’t need any more canvas from LV. I am interested in Celine canvas. You don’t see it everywhere.

I have 4 Nolita 19 bags, and they are perfect. They can be a clutch, a short shoulder bag, a wristlet, or just a little pouch in a bigger bag. However, this is Coach Outlet, not Coach their price increases have been ridiculous.

I have an Eva in Damier Azur. I miss that bag and wish I had it in the monogram print! I did purchase your DUYP collage pochette bag and love it! I have the trifecta of the mini pochette and the toiletry (classic) bags. Because of the LV price increases and “cartoonish” bags, I have moved on to other luxury houses. I bought a Hermes Garden Party and Birkin pre-loved and last spring bought an Hermes Evelyne 29 from Hermes.

When I first knew LV, I fell in love with the sturdy quality and back then the policy was free repair for life. I saved up to buy my first Noe in 1989 and used it to death. Eversince, I have acquired 2 wallets, agenda and 3 other handbags with the thought that they will last me a lifetime. Only one wallet was retired and one agenda in use. The 3 bags and other wallet are still unused 😅. Through the years, there will always be a few pieces that catch my attention but for the simple designed ones, I will look for alternatives. That's my approach with LV, despite the price increases. It's good that you provided alternatives to remind those who aspire to own their first LV piece to be rational 😁.

It’s unfortunate that these fashion houses are just bumping up the prices so much. I’m glad I’ve already bought some mini pochettes already..I absolutely love them and use them as a mini bag all the time.

I’m grateful for my small collection of bags and SLGs from Louis Vuitton before all of the drastic price increases. I would still love to add a bandeau to my collection so I’m hoping the accessories won’t be impacted by the price increase. Thank you for sharing! 🙏🏽❤️

I'm so happy I got my mini pochette a while ago, and I also mostly wear it with the chain from my felicie

It's a canvas bag encased in plastic. There's just a little leather trim. But it's mostly a very durable plastic encasement. Very similar to the plastics used for billboards so that they can stand up to harsh weather conditions and UV light.

I have the monogram multi pochette with coin purse bag. You can seperate the bags. I use the mini pochette and added a chain and a wristlet.

The problem is the mini pochette doesn't fit a phone so I can't see it being popular as a mini bag. I also haven't been attracted to LV in quite a long time and I haven't been using any of my bags (but use my slgs all the time). This is snooty and politically incorrect but I'm just going to put it out there: I'm turned-off that everyone and their brother wears LV and it's almost "low rent" at this point in my opinion. There, I said it, sorry. I'm also older though and maybe I also look at LV as a younger person's brand.

What concerns me is the quality of some of their items . I'm in lv groups on fb and I see complaints about their lv sandals , for example, and how wearing them once resulted in the strap snapping . That's unacceptable in my opinion. Maybe it's because I'm not wealthy bit I expect quality when pay these prices .

Totally agree with your observation. LV is the drug dealers girlfriend bag, just like Coach became low rent/trashy in the late 90's and early 2000's. Personally I was never an LV fan, because it had too many knock offs out from the black market.

Oh it used to! lol an Iphone 5 which was out the time that I got my mini pochette, I miss the days I could stuff my iphone into it, now I cannot stuff my 14 into it but I still have my mini pochette and use it daily, holds all my cards and cash well ❤️will always be my favorite wallet I ever had

I got my Mini Pochette back in 2017 for $310 so I have not kept up with the price increases…. Woooooow. That’s absolutely bananas. The new pricing is half a handbag from Givenchy or Saint Laurent. And it’s the same cost as a pair of boots now or more than a pair of luxury heels.

Totally agree with your thoughts! There is nothing new enticing and they just keep increasing their prices that will drive away loyal customers. I’m so happy I got my mini pochette for less than $300!

I was going to get the mini pochette in ebene to match my speedy b - I am glad I got the black HCC x DUYP one instead. The mini pochette prices at LV are getting out of control.

Thank god I bought mine 2 years ago pre-loved with the animation for 500$ and I'm obsessed with it!!!

I purchased the DUYP bag in caramel color and I love it! 🥰 As for LV, I honestly have never had a desire to own one of their bags, but their price increases are getting ridiculous. 😏

I use the Palm Springs mini strap on my pochette sometimes

I added a chain from Amazon and it’s a perfect mini bag for concerts and venues where you can’t bring in more than a very small handbag. Seems ridiculous that they are adding a chain at a premium!

The coach nolita works just as well, very good quality at a much more reasonable price. Plus more color options. Mine is in black with gold hardware so I have a gold chain as well as a black crossbody leather strap to change the look.

I have been putting off ordering the DUYP mini. Watching this made me do it! Grabbed the navy one and a crossbody chain. I bought my LV key Pouch in 2018 and I will never get rid of it. It’s the only “new” LV I have. Everything else is pre-loved and vintage. I can’t justify what they are doing right now.

I'm still happy with your DUYP collab so don't feel the desire to own an LV mini pochette now. I got inserts and straps for my kirigami set so the medium size is still serving the purpose of my mini pochette, and the large size fits a phone. The biggest downfall after the ridiculous price is that it doesn't fit a phone so it's definitely not worth $745 or $860! If they made it a little bigger to fit a phone, then maybe. Otherwise, there is better out there to be had. I'm getting really temped by Loewe these days because of the quality of their leather. I'm losing interest in LV these days too. They are pricing themselves out of the market.

Not surprised because if you noticed during the Christmas animation drop so many people were saying they were surprised to see the availability of the mini P in stores everywhere. I believe it’s because of the price increase and they were $845! Just because you add a strap doesn’t make it worth the price. If you are willing to spend that get the pochette accessories or a bag.

Oh no. I sold my mini pochette, thinking I wouldn't miss it. Once I realized I wanted it back, the price had increased. Now that they may possibly d/c the original version and increase the price, I'm going to buy another one pre-loved before fashionphile and the other re-sellers hike up the price if the original gets discontinued.

I bought the gold chain for my speedy 20 as an additional strap and you gave me an idea to use it for my Xmas mini Pochette and I won’t spend additional funds to buy a modified ‘new’ design .. that’s just not smart spending. 😅

One of my biggest regret is not buying the Mini Pochette when it was only $550. I kept waiting on it, cus I’m a newbie to luxury brands, coming from a hardcore MK fan. Lol. I waited it out & when I checked on the Mini Pochette again, it was at $745. I didn’t want to purchase it then, but I also feared LV was going to raise the price on it again, so I decided to just go for it. I paid a good $800 on it after taxes. After seeing this video, I’m glad I didn’t wait it out another year or so. Lol.

I only like the all leather ones, and not the ones with the LV logo plastered everywhere like those tacky LV canvas (that feel like plastic) purses, that you're trying to shame MK for SMH. And for the record, I don't like the MK or Coach purses with Mk's or C's on all over them either.

So i bought the Mini Pochette for $310 also . I’m in Canada and the price for one is now $950 here ( which is insane) ! I sold mine last month for $750… I found I never used it. It doesn’t fit my phone which is important, the wristlet chain drove me nuts inside my bags. I have all 3 sizes in the Toiletry pouches and I find those way more useful. I never understood the hype for the Mini Pochette . I only picked one up because of FOMO 🤷🏻‍♀️.

You can get a whole pre-loved givenchy antigona for that price! Wild. I think the only thing that makes sense from the brand now are the Kirigami pouches. Thanks for posting!

I just came across your channel, and I must say that luxury bag's are a category that I was once enchanted with. Unfortunately like many other goods in this world, these companies have become incredibly greedy and overpriced. Of course, those who wish will always save up their hard earned coins to acquire a new designer bag but when does the madness end. I personally have a backpack from Longchamp that I use daily and it's a work horse. I cannot imagine spending a thousand dollars for a bag that doesn't have the space to hold my cell phone, wth!!!

I think many of us were enchanted, as you say, and now we’re re-evaluating. Part of the lure of luxury brands is the intangible magic (X factor) but when brands go off the rails with increased pricing and loss of quality, that magic inevitable begins to fade for many. Oh to have a time machine and go back to the $310 price of the mini pochette ! Today's price is completely out of control - there are many slightly used bags that you can buy for $1,000.

etsy also has some spectacular handmade, real leather dupes, especially for Chanel products. Some look even better than any designer bag.

I will not be getting anymore LV Mini Pochette. I have 3 and happy with those. Thank goodness. I think it's crazy. I feel bag for people who are trying to just buy their first piece. Just so expensive. Love your alternative. Plus they are cute. I remember my first Pochette Accessories $250 years ago. Now they are $1,290.

It seems luxury goods, the ones with some semblance of popularity, have pretty regular annual price increases along with the limiting control on supply. A part of me thinks this is to keep prices stable on the secondary market which gauges strength of the brand. I've seen similar with Rolex and other luxury goods in varying segments. Anyhow, I've enjoyed watching your videos as it gives me insight when I'm looking to purchase something for a loved one. 🥇💯

I love LV but for me all the price increases have made them not worth it for what they are. There are many pre owned LV in very good condition on the market. I’m not rotating my bags as much anymore. I love my DE mini pochette, but I wouldn’t buy it at current prices. I paid £230 in 2020, it’s now £530 on the website 😳. I recently bought a beautiful leather crossbody bag with strap from longchamp for £175! Dress up your purse closed their shop via Etsy in the UK and is currently sold out of the small leather pochette ( have been for a while).

Oh well …. That’s why I shop LV only in France 🇫🇷 where the prices are sooooo much less 😊 PS I bought my monogram cosmetic pouch for $580.00 and really don’t use it much. Have the inserts and straps for it to make it a crossbody. Maybe I should use it more ???

I agree with you about Louis Vuitton hitting a price ceiling. The last bag I purchased was in May 2021 and I didn’t think I was going to be purchasing another bag at all. This weekend I walked in there and purchased the polkadot speedy because it brings such a joy to me when I look at it. However, the practical side of me is telling me to return it, because the price is simply outrageous for the quality of that bag. Compared to my older LV bags. The canvas is like tissue paper these days. So thin and cheap feeling. As much as I love the bag, it is definitely not a practical bag and if I keep it, I will need to purchase Twilley’s for each handle to keep it looking nice. I’ll keep you posted but feel like I’m going to end up returning it.

I think the major reason of the popularity of those pochettes was that they were kind of on a budget for LV, now it is better to buy Alma BB, than PA. Anyway the prices will grow further. You make a good point. These smaller canvas items were once great entry pieces for newer customers dipping their toes into the brand. Not so much anymore with the prices being what they are now.

The current price is already too high for the mini pochette. I bought it at $365 and thought it was too high then, so I am definitely not going to be interested in paying even more for it with a chain. And I agree, haven’t bought anything at LV in over a year with no plans to do so. The price increases have definitely turned me off.

Wow! I’m not surprised they are doing this after what happened with the Toiletry pouch. How is this going to work with the animation mini Pochettes and all the other limited edition ones they release? I wonder if they will all have the modification? Last time I bought anything was in April ‘22 because I was in Paris and really wanted to buy there because LV is much more reasonable in France. I’m with you as far as nothing has caught my eye lately and the price increases are a big deterrent. Also, I have educated myself about leather in the last year and I’d rather spend money on a finely crafted leather piece. I do love the canvas pieces I have but I also can’t see myself continuing to pay thousands for that type of material.

I saw a woman at a college football game last fall with a Fendi micro baguette. It was so beautiful and so adorable. If I got something like that, I would go with the Fendi.

On one of my pinterest boards there's a photo of someone with a wrinkled brown grocery bag--they drew on the bag to make it look like a Chanel bag and attached their own chain--they folded the bag down over the chain. That's the only way I'd carry a designer bag--ironically, to make a statement.

Dots are not my thing either, the pattern really made me dizzy! I think the chain strap from dress up my purse is really cute, I would buy one to go with my mini Pochette. I feel like LV is very far away from my liking nowadays. I am done with LV unless they come up with some elegant bags in the future. Thanks for sharing the alternatives.

🛑 the madness Louie…First I’m happy I’m in Japan to save some money, secondly I want one more handbag an Alma bb, a LV strap for my Toiletry 26 . Thirdly two pairs of shoes that are under $1,000. I cannot see myself paying over $2,000. About to restock on Gucci , Fendi and Burberry, which I love.

I don't think the Kusama collection is selling very well as most of the items are still available on the website and my store still has most of the collection available. Don't care for it but bought a scarf to frame.
