I actually had beef short rib last night. Homemade, eight pieces at about 3 and a 1/2 " Square and 2" deep, £11. Bones for stock were free from the same butcher, garlic ,celery, ginger, etc, about a pound and a £6 bottle of red; of which half was used. Runner beans and mash. This actually did feed four people, 😁. Again, the prices these days are extortionate, beef short rib is meant to be a cheap cut, hence the long cooking time. Thanks Gaz 😊. Like deployed 👍

Maybe food here is expensive but I don’t think that’s overly expensive . It’s all meat. You get something with 60% of chicken in a chicken pie and it’s say £5. I think it’s comparable. Here you are getting slow cooked meat 6hrs that costs to produce. So one portion is £8. How much for regurgitated Big Mac. Not a family meal but for a couple as a treat it’s acceptable as it’s clearly yummy.
@PaulewingStHelens14 күн бұрын
I’d could eat that on my own let alone serve four lol. Great vid Gareth.

Since the meat portions are wrapped separately, and depending upon shelf life, it should be possible to get three different meals out of this, cooking one meat portion per day (and saving enough sauce to last until the final portion). Add some potatoes and some nice greens each time.

The BBQ Beef Platter certainly looks good and by Gareth's taste reaction afterwards, he appeared to give it a strong thumbs up; but £16 is in my opinion is out of reach for many people, especially those who are on a tight budget. I wouldn't dream of buying this food product, but as a one off treat for sharing with another person, then I can almost justify it's expensive price tag. You could serve 4 people with the amount of beef you get from the platter but they'll be very small portions, the box should really say: Serves 2-3 because that is a more realistic figure.

@@BaldFoodieGuy I know some people are saying it’s like selling your own data to big companies but think of it like this , if you have a family and on a tight budget these cards are great because you save £££’s over a length of time saving up the points etc and instantly money off. But don’t worry about selling of your own personal data signing up to a loyalty card for a supermarket, yes you will be getting hit with a lot of emails but you can choose to read them or ignore them and you rule your own wallet or purse strings and you choose to where you want to shop at a time it suits you. No one is holding a gun to your head and saying oh right it’s time you bought more stuff from us. It doesn’t happen you as the consumer is in control.

I would like to thank you for doing these reviews of food whether it be cheap or expensive. As someone living on just a pension it pays to shop around but you save me time and money doing these reviews. Thanks again 👍. You gained a subscriber.

The weight includes the jouces you poured off. Such meals are intended to be about 1/3 to 1/4 of your daily calories, you would normally have carbs with a meal.
Now, this is my kinda scram 😍 great choice. Thanks. I definitely will be buying this, but just for myself 😅 that ain't feeding 4ppl 😂
Thank goodness! I literally bought one of these a couple of days ago, with nectar discount (£10?). Looking forward to it even more now 👍
£16? That's a ridiculous price and as it claims to serve 4 no way unless they had miniscule appetites just enough in there for 2 people at the most

Standard Tesco beef brisket joint is £11 per KG, so this (precooked with sauce) isn't much more at £16 for 1.4 KG

Awesome, I always shop Sainsbury, never seen this, yet, but will eyes out for this, imagine with home made garlic Chiappetta
What a really informative review Gareth... Glad you are treating yourself to a fantastic meal... A bit expensive but you get top quality products.
Great video 👍. Definitely wouldn’t pay £16 as looked delicious but wouldn’t feed four people depending on how hungry they are 😊
Maybe food here is expensive but I don’t think that’s overly expensive .
I’d could eat that on my own let alone serve four lol. Great vid Gareth.
Since the meat portions are wrapped separately, and depending upon shelf life, it should be possible to get three different meals out of this, cooking one meat portion per day (and saving enough sauce to last until the final portion). Add some potatoes and some nice greens each time.
should of got it for £10 with a nectar card my man ! im going to give this a try thanks for the video
my favorite type of food....looks lovely
I do my weekly shop at aldi in kendal for some of the bargains then across to sainsburys for the finer things like the three trolly wide isles and their fresh bread.
Oo my husband wanted to buy that ! I will let him know your thoughts and thanks for sharing
Sainsbury's food is notoriously expensive, *BUT* the quality is well worth the price! Check out some of their Premium sirloin and fillet - dear but Oh, SO, Yummy 😄 As I have said many times, I don't mind paying the expensive money as long as the quality is superb. Keep up the good work Gareth 👍
Top tip become a regular customer to your local butcher and they will look after you unlike supermarkets do, I've used my local butcher for over 20 years now and we have became friends,so we do occasionally meet up for a drink or two,or should I say we meat up for a drink or two 😂
Good lad. Cracking review - I need to try it now. (Thanks for your brilliant videos 😊)

It works out fairly cheap if split over a few days...
Great review Gaz, it probably does serve 4 if you were to add sides eg mash, chips, rice or veg...looks very tasty though i must say, i'll have to pop down to Sainsburys and get this in time for the bbq weather!
£16? I could dine out for that 😂😂😂. Once again, thanks for these reviews. You are saving people a fortune ❤❤❤

It’s a bargain at £10 with a nectar card. Eat in and save a fortune
Bit on the expensive side for me this Gaz although I thought it looked nice. I’m on a homemade Steak & Stilton Pie tonight 🥧 ….Smithy
Bought a Ninja woodfire back in November, for half the price of what it's going for now. Pricey outlay, initially, but it does stuff like this from scratch.
Looks good
If only Sainsbury's produced half that pack, then I might consider it. For a family treat it's not too bad divided between four. One would likely serve potatoes and other vegetables, or in a BBQ situation there would be salads and coleslaw to go with.
After that Lidl Hot Dog sandwich of a few days ago I think you deserve a treat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Price not too bad considering what you get. You certainly seemed to enjoy it! Keep up the good work mate.

"smoked" on food packaging means misted (spray painted) with liquid smoke, good review of an overpriced product. An ideal product for the casual BBQ enthusiast (we're in that season now), go to your butchers and ask for £8 of brisket and £8 of beef short ribs 😉.
Thx dave
Great review Gaz you would expect the tray to be full for 4 people and 4 ribs at least it tasted nice which is always a plus and keep up with your great tasting 👍👍

Just ordered one to be delivered along with a few other things for a £1 delivery, the price for this is £16.00 down to £10.66 if you have a nectar card (you can get instore) but the deal ends tomorrow so best be quick for anyone wanting to try one.
Spot On review as always Gareth, we'll I think it is evident, that not worth £16. Also just had a Cathedral City cheese burger (Iceland) that was good, also had the Cathedral City Cheese Dog good too! Please review cheese dog if you can
I love Sainsbury’s, Not being a big meat eater I wouldn’t buy but it looked flavoursome and you could tell you enjoyed it, thanks for. The review❤
Sainsburys went down the pan years ago. 16 quid for that! They are having a bloody laugh! Total rip off and they know it.
The co op near me recycles that plastic and crisp packets etc. Thanks for the video buddy 👍 Edit, im in Luton
The smokey flavour is mostly from LIQUID SMOKE.
Nice review Looks nice! Like you said it is a treat. Only £10.66 with nectar card. Def gonna get one.
To put it in perspective I paid over 13 pounds for fish, chips and a curry sauce tonight which makes this product look almost affordable!
@angowT

Only £13 and you got curry sauce. You were lucky. I live in Cornwall where we must have the country's most expensive fish and chips, my nearest is £17 just for a regular fish and chips. When I go to London, I can't believe how cheap take aways are. So on that basis I agree with you, I might get some today and put them on the barbie.
It's around 12 quid with a nectar card, get one if you plan more Sainsbuty's visits, I have not tried this yet, thanks for reviewing.
Wow 3 years already. I'm been following you since the start. Another brilliant review matey. mind you no way that serves four.
That looked very tasty I would definitely have for treat Best wishes gareth
You would think Sainsburys could spell 'thoroughly' properly @2:55.
Good BBQ is good BBQ, it can't be faked.
Great to hear your appreciation of David's excellent gift again 👍Looks very nice but even split over 3 meals It's still too expensive for me. Minted lamb shanks all the way for me 😛
Hi Gareth, just been to Sainsburys to get one. They are now selling for £14 or £9.33p if you have a nectar card. Can't wait to try ours and yours looked scrummy.

Oh great mate that's cheaper
Forgetting the fact that it's supposed to feed four, I think for two people - it's a bargain. Where else are you going to get that much tasty meat for less than £8 a head? Thanks Baldy, I think I'll give this one a try.
That would do just for me Gareth,I'm salivating here just looking at that plateful, looks so good, another really enjoyable video big pal

£16 might seem expensive, but you do get 1.4kg. lamb chops in Morrisons are £15 a kilo, so not so bad if you consider it's been pre smoked and cooked.
By the time you add 2 or 3 side salad dishes and lettuce that would be more than enough to eat without worrying about cholesterol or obesity. Perfect portion for 4 people. At the end of the day a bbq is usually a treat so the cost is in proportion.
Wouldn't serve four in my house😂, I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry at that price
I saw this in Sainsbury’s this we and took a double take! I don’t think it’s enough for 4 people! And to be honest I wasn’t prepared to pay £16 for it. Good review as always. 😃👍

Its good but like you said no alot mybe abetter deal at butchers.
Looks yummy 😋
Even fort 2 people (and a bit left for a sandwich the next day) its not bad if its that good, £8 a head plus maybe a corn on the cob and a side salad. Or 2 meals for 2 so a measly £4 a head. For me its not just the price, if its good its worth paying, its when its expensive and rubbish that i really get annoyed at.
It’s a big un! Sorry, i love a good innuendo 😂
Thank you for that. It sounded delicious…but was it value for the money? I like VFM. I think I may dodge this for as a serving for 4 ..the Hubster would woof it down as one portion.
Worth every penny. Slow cooked meat is so good.

I have something called liquid smoke, you add it to fried meat for the last few min cooking, tastes like smokey grill , wood fired.
Great review as always Gareth but a bit too expensive and never enough for 4
It seems expensive but compared to the price of a takeaway for 2 people, I’d say it’s pretty reasonable. With some wraps and coleslaw, lovely
So you bought some good food for eating and not feeding Dusty bin. Nice one M8.
im off to sainsburys 🤣 looks great

I think I would buy this Gareth, but,no way for four people, more like two or just one 😋👍
Glad went down a treat.... 👍
Can't eat the bone? Kids are crying, cheers Gareth! We were looking forward to having a right good crunch with some tasty marrow to finish off with.
Have you tried aldi gammon shank in maple syrup sauce rather tast , with dauphinue spuds ( sliced spuds baked in milk and cream)

Yumyummmmm looks delicious mate
Looked really good with vegetables and potatoes there might be enough for four but definitely three.
The sauce packet reminds me of a Glenville Ice Pop!
With the plastic wrappers I use I one test, if it crispy it doesn't go in the recycle bin, soft or hard does. Half decent meat especially slow cooked it opens your eyes to the normal rubbish supermarkets sell us. Sixteen quid mind that's got to be a Christmas one.
I'm spot on thanks Gaz that looked OK bud and like you said a bit of treat and I think it would be blinding on a barbecue for 2 not 4 any hue top draw 👌😋💪😉

Flimsy plastics are recycled at supermarkets - crisp packets, plastic film etc
£16,nearly fainted GAZ 😂😂❤❤❤
Is that hair see-through colour? If it were me I’d have chosen the dark brown.
Most of us are willing to shell out a bit extra for a "luxury" meal now and then if we have a few quid to spare. We all deserve a little treat occasionally. 👍
I’ve never heard of a burnt end! Looks lovely though
GarethWould have that between 2 people so £8 each same as a takeaway for one size steak so could live with that. Not something most people would buy every week but as a treat not too expensive maybe twice a year
You could get a joint of Brisket from Lidl for £10/12 cooked in Guinness in a slow cooker with a Knorr stock pot and use the stock to make the gravy and it would do 4 people. Most probably tasted nice but £16 for what you get they are having a laugh.
Soft plastic can be recycled. Tesco have collection points
Gareth it’s only £10.66 currently if you have a Nectar Card. So why not sign up for it? No point in saying it’s a rip off when you could purchase it much cheaper than paying the normal price for the same item.

It'd have to be for special occasions only I'm afraid, like royal visits or meeting an alien ambassador or similar. As delicious as it looked £16 is a bit rich for me. Shame really, I love BBQ anything really. Perhaps they ought to do half the size for £8.
16 Nicker pmsl🤣🤣not heard that for years, good vid tho as usual
