Luxury Modern Small Home Built In Suburban Backyard

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hidden in the back yard of a bustling suburban neighbourhood is a remarkable small family home. A sanctuary and haven designed to give the family a better quality of life, and yes, the swimming pool is larger than their house.

Wanting something different for their family, Dan and Marnie were inspired by tiny houses and minimalism and wanted to choose a different lifestyle for their family. With a large backyard, the couple decided to construct a new, small home for themselves to enjoy.

The design of this small home, located in Sydney is modern and perfectly suited to Australian life. Centred around outdoor living and the fantastic feature swimming pool, this home utilises some very clever small space design ideas inspired by the tiny house movement to create a compact home which is functional, beautiful and perfectly meets the needs of this young family.

They are renting their main house. In 5-10 years, they could move back to their main home while the teens are home and then move back into that space when the kids go to college. It creates great flexibility going forward.

I love that each person/family builds to their desire. The odd thing I find with "tiny" homes is parents don't seem to plan for their children's bedrooms so they can grow until at least 18 yrs old. It's like they build the bedrooms for the size the children are presently. I'm like WTF? Children grow a lot month to month. But they know what works so...

Many of us grew up in houses smaller than that, with tiny bedrooms. I'm afraid that the Baby Boomers' grandchildren have no idea of how to "manage." Probably the most spoiled, entitled generation to walk the earth, with no survival skills whatsoever. That's why I watch Bryce's channel; it gives me hope that there are young people who can think for themselves, and know the difference between "want" and "need."

I don't understand the envious comments in here. this family made a great investment. going smaller wasn't for being free from mortgage, but to invest, and that's ok. yes, they are great parents, giving their kids an amazing space outdoors to play when they most need it. the kids' bedroom is just nice, kids are not claustrophobic, we adults are everythingphobic. of course they'll move back to the main house eventually, and then back to the play house when kids leave home. imagine their grandchildren excited to visit them to enjoy the pool or sleep over in the mini bedroom. Everything looks so fun! Lots of love to this family from Brazil ♥

@@EnFuegoDuo yes true! It is. You do have to factor in the pool and the comparable houses in that area in New South Wales in Sydney as well as the cost of living, material and labor costs. It also depends if they are close to the City or outside of the City. Just looking it up, rent in that area for a 1 Bedroom in City Centre averages 2,572.51/mo USD and outside of City Centre $1,910.55/mo USD (of course depending on which site you look on). So, it doesn't seem like a cheap area to live in the first place let alone with a pool, and I live in Florida where it is expensive as well. One big thing to remember also is that it is much much cheaper if you are doing the work yourself as opposed to having it completely built for you. You are right though, I have seen much better deals in the US, but this is definitely upgraded and in an expensive area.

I was actually thinking the same thing. But by estimate from comparing the yard size with the other one behind theirs I think the tenants just have a small yard as opposed to no hard with the landlord's house and pool there. It's like they built their house in the far corner of the property away from the house and fenced it in with a live decorative fence so the main house has a fairly small yard but still large enough to hang out and play in and a smaller driveway but they should get little to no interaction unless it's sound carrying far.

I do feel weirded out by the fact that 2 girls are being put to sleep in a "room" the size of a closet though, while the parents get a full size bedroom. The decoration is great but seriously that sizing is suitable for 1 child max. Maybe they already have a plan to move back to their original house, which they are renting out, in a few years, when the kids are all grown up. I'll think like that just to be positive 🤣

This house is very mind-blowing. Just wow, like everything is functional, unique, and really, I've never thought I gonna see someone rent their original house, build a tiny house on the backyard with pool and outdoor kitchen on it. But the ending, Bryce 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@Mario Yah. Honestly I haven't seen any tiny house episodes with older kids/teens in them. It seems that the tiny house lifestyle is for adults without children or occasionally with one or two. I was thrilled that this episode was so kid-friendly. But yes, when they get older, I assume that the parents will either move back into their big house or something. It would be interesting to see if tiny house living is possible with kids of all ages...

Guhbs Beats Is it possible that the parent’s will be still making mortgage payments when their daughter’s go off to college and the renter’s in the bigger house will still be renting, the smaller house could be expanded to include an extra sibling and larger rooms for the teens...Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re willing to nearly double their mortgage- they flip a second nearby property to bring costs down and pay for larger bedrooms....thought they were dancing around issues...laundry was still being done at larger house-including drying on lines......they’ve come from $$monied backgrounds; just not admitting it.....
