Depending on the brand, a full size tube of toothpaste could be a decent value 😂 (but that’s assuming they’re actually going to include full sized items)

The only thing worse than the audacity of these companies to include samples that aren't supposed to be for sale in $200 advent calendars is the amount of people that will tell you it's actually worth it 🙃

Samples AND tea lights they’re calling a “candle”. So you buy your mom, sister, best friend an advent calendar thinking you got her something to brighten her day every single day right up to Christmas 🥰 Why? Because you’re both so busy with life (work) But then you both realize that “fancy brand” stuff is going to end up in that drawer we all have of crap we don’t want but haven’t thrown away yet. These brands need to do better or don’t bother. It’s not like the old days. People post about this. Do better please.

I always feel some kinda way when I see these advent calendars only give out samples. It feels like they should give you full size items for the price or come up with a new size that bigger than a sample but smaller than full

I agree. I mean you should at least be getting 220$ worth of value-and for a 25 day calendar that means 9$/day (roughly). A sample that you can only use once or twice is not worth 9$. Not to me. I don’t care whose name is on it.

That’s how they getcha* They give you the tiniest amount, you try it once, maybe 3x’s at most; fall in love with the product, and then spend $300 on the full size. They know exactly what they’re doing…. And it works more then 75% of the time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I fell for it- so, I know. I was foolish: but, whatever.

I think you’ve underestimated how much we like you 😊 you could cook, organize, get ready, get unready, open advent calendars, play with wren and tater, review subscriptions etc… and we would all still watch because you have an amazing personality. You are beautiful from the inside out. You’re a real, authentic, person who we all want to be friends with.

When Alexandria said there's many more advent unboxings still to come, did I get excited? Absolutely yes. Do I care that this may take until far past Christmas to complete? Absolutely not.

The Cult Beauty advent calendar was about $270, but had a value of around $1100. Admittedly, that is a lot of money, but the value was incredible. I’m just mentioning it because there are several brands in both of them - with the important difference, that for example the Sunday Riley serum was full size (worth over $80 alone) and so was the Augustinus Bader cream. In total there were 37!!! Items, 16 were full size and the rest large luxury samples, not the sort of crap you get for free at the counter. There was a quad eyeshadow from Charlotte Tilbury, too. I bought it because there were several full-size products I always wanted to try but would never have spent that much money on. Compared to that calendar, most others seem like a ripoff. Only the Harrods one was comparable in price and value.

I gasped at the toothpaste, because I just stayed in a hotel and we got that exact brand/size FOR FREE in the room!! It's like the execs went on vacation, took the free samples from the hotel room and threw them into a calendar 💀

Ambergris is what you were thinking in the fancy perfumes. It’s from the digestive system of sperm whales. It has been used by perfumers because it helps the scent stick to the skin for longer (a fixative) but these days most perfumes use a synthetic version. Also, it’s funny you mentioned Futurama in this because they have an episode that mentions ambergris. (Episode name: Three Hundred Big Boys)

I have five kids so can always pass on the ones I don't like and let them try them too. It's been fun on hard days to have them help me open a door and see what we get and if someone likes it.

Omg… Your Barefoot Contessa impression was 👏😂 Also my local TKMaxx always has Marvis toothpaste. It’s £2.99 for a full size or a variety box of 3 the size of the one in this calendar for £4.99. Saks are totally taking the piss here with the scrapings out of their samples drawers. Hoping they can distract people from the lack of actual value with the brand names. Smoke. And . Mirrors.

I think I've commented on this in a previous video, but the whale vomit thing in perfume is TRUE! It's called ambergris and it's pretty rare so it's mostly in high end fragrances.

Another rose item for auntie mar! that natural marvis toothpaste is usually very expensive and luxurious. We need dun dun dunnnnn music every time a mask, olaplex 3, brow gel, etc shows up. 😂

Kopari 100% Coconut Melt is what I use to get my waterproof mascara off. It’s not too expensive, and the tub lasts a super long time. A little goes a long way and it doesn’t burn or irritate my eyes. If I get some in there, I just blink a bunch of times. I love your advent calendar unboxing and could watch them the entire year. Your reactions to the crap that gets sold in the boxes is hilarious!

It’s not whale vomit, it’s a substance called ambergris! I mean it comes from the digestive systems of whales but it’s not technically vomit. It’s smells horrid when it’s fresh but as it ages it smells really nice.

Honestly, start buying advent calendars that are on sale now so you have footage for much longer! I would LOVE to see if it's worth the risk of not getting one before Christmas because it'll go on sale later (obviously you won't always be able to get one). But it could be a fun way to extend our favorite series even longer! Like, 'the Chanel advent calendar is bad for $800, but now that it's on sale for $75 it's a really good deal, so wait til after Christmas and try to get one next year'
