They opened up at Lollapalooza 1992, and I felt really bad for them at the end of their set. The crowd was still funneling in and not showing a whole lot of enthusiasm, and Miki said after their last song, "Thanks Dallas, it's been very time-consuming!"

This was mostly due to the production work of Robin Guthrie who produced them to the album Spooky (1991). Their sound changed dramatically on the later records which in my opinion had somewhat lost the magic

Agreed. And until recently, thanks to the internet, I never knew the words. Not that it matter to me at all. The "heavenly" and "ethereal" sound was so awesome, I didn't even care what she was singing. The lyrics dance lightly atop the wall of sound and they almost might have been in another language.

Lush "Sweetness and Light" should have 200 million views of which 10,000 would be mine alone. Ah so good 32 years later. Too too good
They wrote hypnotic stuff.... I loved their music and for me it came at the absolute right time.
My God.....I love this song! When I was kid I would put my headphones on and just chill to this song with my eyes closed. The world faded away for a few minutes and a sense of peace washed over me. It still has that effect on me after all these years.

I had completely forgotten about this song, but clicked on it because the thumbnail looked like something I might like. The music starts and I think "Hey, this does sound pretty good". Then 00:19 hits and my brain says "Holy shit. I remember this song, and I especially remember that guitar lick." I was 12 when this was released. Nostalgia can be a hell of a drug when it really hits you hard, and I'm ecstatic that this song is back in my life.
Lyft Driver was bumping this on the way to work yesterday and that's what brought me here
In early 1991 I walked into a record store (kids, ask your parents) and the in-store audio was playing this beautiful, ethereal, yet driving track...I'd never heard anything like it. I asked the store clerk what he was playing and he said it was a song called "Sweetness and Light" by a band called Lush. I remember thinking how apt a band name that was, as it encapsulated their sound perfectly. I left that store with a cassette of their album Gala and I've been a shoegaze and dream pop fan ever since.
Summer time breeze. Incredible music takes you places. Saw lush in 92 .

I was at the infamous 1992 Lollapalooza Jones Beach, New York. You know the lineup: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ministry, Ice Cube, Soundgarden, The Jesus and Mary Chain, Pearl Jam, Lush. Wow...the best bill of any gig in history. Lush played first (loved them) and then a flash hurricane blew in and trashed the whole stage. Concert cancelled! I paid a scalper $400 for two great seats and all I saw was Lush! Scalpers don't give refunds. Four hundred bucks to see a twenty minute set by Lush. I was called a Lollapa-loser by everyone that week.
This has a ethereal sound that carries me away.
