Miki Berenyi’s Rickenbacker guitar run through flangers and delays gives it that “otherworldly” sound.

Just popped in my head after not hearing it for over 30 years and then when it started all kinds of memories started flooding over me. My mom and grandpa were still alive for a moment and I was 21 again. Music really does transport you to another place ❤

There's something about Lush that just hurts me. I think it has to do with being about the same age as them, and the feeling in the early 90s of the world being full of opportunities. Alternative music, our music, was becoming THE music. The idea of having a little band, gigging and getting known, eventually being played on the radio and people buying your albums and singles. But it's all gone. This band faded away after their drummer killed himself. This band was really one of my favourites in a time of good music everywhere. Who knows Lush now? Basically just the people that listened to them then. I guess it's just that sense of everything being perishable. Everything that exists will one day not exist anymore.

That would be Emma Anderson, the guitarist with the brunette hair...who wrote the song. You can tell it's her song from the lovely melodies and weird chord changes.

This song is the reason why I became a fan of Lush. Heard at a Tower Records and immediately bought the cassette. Love them always.

I joined the Navy in 1994 and bought the Lush cd from our ships store having never even heard of the band, I just bought it randomly and never regretted it! Love this band and it brings back those memories of being on the USS Ashland!

Such a fertile time for music. The diversity of bands and originality was unparalleled.

Always and forever, thank you to 4AD, Great Britain and the British people whose creativity, since the 1960s, has given the rest of the World hundreds of unique bands such as the Lush and music of unparalleled beauty, quirkiness and atmosphere. What would our lives have been without British bands? Thank you from Sicily.

It’s kind of sad to see what the most popular music in Britain is nowadays. I have no problem with grime and stuff like that but it sucks to know that barely any English teenagers are growing up experimenting with genres like shoegaze or classic rock...

The best Lush period: shoegaze lush 1988 to 1992/94 maybe. Thank you too Robyn Guthrie from Cocteau Twins, my favourite alternative band. First Cocteau Twins, second Lush shoegaze period.

My late friend played this during a mushroom trip he and I took together and it forever will be a favorite and an absolute haunting track to me. The melody is glued to my psyche, in a sad yet undeniably beautiful way...

Still one of my favorite songs ever. The whole ethereal feel of the song is something I just can’t describe and it is special.

I saw it on MTV's "120 minutes" and bought it the next day! wow, 31 years ago!

One of my favorite songs forever literally

Takes me back to falling asleep on a Saturday nite on the couch in 1992...waking up around midnite with MTV's 120 Minutes on...and this song comes on...magic....have never forgotten it.

A few seconds in and I knew this wasn't going to be some ordinary ride. Sweet voices singing adult songs while the raucous music crashed around them . Bless you Emma , Miki and the boys.

If you saw Lush in concert back in 1992, you know one of the highlights was when they would segue immediately from "Covert" to "De-Luxe". Goosebumps.

This song sounds so colorful

There's something incredibly timeless and fresh about their sound.

I remember the excitement of listening this for the first time and also being completely blown away by the Robin Guthrie re-mastering of Thoughtforms, down the old Tottenham Court Road in the day!

I wish i was born in the era this song was written in because most of the music that comes out now doesn't hit the same as this song, this song literally feels like ecstacy

I agree completely about the ecstasy vibe. Felt it back in the day and it's wonderful to hear it still has that effect on someone else today. It's a kind of alchemy the band achieved in some of their pieces/songs. It helped Robin Guthrie was involved.

Finally. I’ve had this stuck in my head for the last week and couldn’t remember what it was called. Remember when music videos were a thing?

Emma's songwriting genius on full view here. The 1,2,3,1,2,3,4,5,6 rhythm is irresistable. The tune is fantastic (as always) and the lyrics are perfect. My favourite lines - 'Happy coursing through my veins, Don't even know my name'' 'No birds in sight, I fear, Stick sticks in you my dear' 'When we're wrapped in polythene, what's that supposed to mean?'

What a great song. The way the 12 string creates this wall of sound that props up the whole song and her vocals are so perfect. Also l used to hear it going to score so it's part of my sound track for good times.

@@janesmith7676 They may not be everyone's thing, but those games provided a great avenue for youth to discover and learn about some of the best classic songs, bands, oldies etc.. especially for kids who may not have grown up in rock n' roll-savy environments. They served a useful purpose, even it was kind of a silly gameplay concept.

This song requires multiple listens. It is so intense and overwhelming to get the full picture. I wonder if maybe thats the reason why they never gained the fame and noteary they deserved. Ahead of their time, creating such a landscape in music. I'm glad for the very least many have been able to discover them through youtube. Lush is everything.

i 1000% recommend this song to any beginner guitarist looking to learn the pain of full chord shapes. your wrist, forearm and fingers will never be the same but its so worth learning.

Yes, we’re here mate. I was working at MTV in 1993 as a Master Control Engineer and was working on the show “120 Minutes”. The band had just exploded with their song “Superblast” and I remember sitting at the switcher uplinking this to the east coast at 3AM and being blown away. I went out after my shift and bought the CD, this band never got the full recognition they deserved. Hope all went well with you and your mates, cheers for reaching out and caring.

Ha, 8 years later. Ended up seeing them at their last ever American show in Portland. Spent 1/3 of the show watching everyone's faces watching the band. So much joy. Got to meet Miki, Emma and Phil afterwards.

so strollin throught the yard up to the front door of 47. Punk, Oi! ska (60s) Blue Beat, NYHC, thrash, speed metal, new wave cold wave.......old italian crooners. All favorites. Remembering back to the skate punk days when you could throw on college radio and actually hear punk........along with this song. 1990 16 yrs old. Thanks KZreadlandia. Also found out in 2011 the old song that also was in my head was Mazzy friggin fade into Star.........(Blue Star)...................(also from the 90)
