@@777pusher do yourself a MASSIVE favour, go out and get their last 3 albums, maybe don't listen to them all at once though ( a few weeks apart should do it). They have a similar sort of sound, but never before have i forgiven a band for making such similar albums one after the other ! +DanieL Plainsong Just remember those are not the actual lyrics; they were never published. That's one person's transcription of what they hear. Some of it sounds right, but some is clearly wrong. Like "part" should be "but." And "wall not" is more likely "walnut" believe it or not.

I knew this album in 1992 from my roomate at the time and It took me some years to really appreciate how good Heaven or Las Vegas was. I was mostly a metal head at the time.

They started very dark and gothic in 1982 (Garlands / Head Over Heels) , transitioned in 1984 (Treasure - has both dark and dreamy - see "Pandora" ., then became ambient and dreamy (Victorialand / The Moon and the Melodies) - then found their identity with the last four albums I think (Blue Bell Knoll / Heaven or Las Vegas / Four Calendar Cafe / Milk and Kisses). It's almost like they started with severely dark music to severley light and dreamy music, to a balance at the end before they called it quits. My favorite albums are Treasure and Milk and Kisses. Also look up the singles. There are a lot! (Spangle Maker, Pearly Dew Drops, An Elan, Dials, Love's Easy Tears, etc.) Yes their music and instrumentation is exceptional and moving.

Why have I only found this band today after 43 years on this planet. Blown away

They have been my fav for 35yrs. They are the very first search I did on the world wide web in 1997 lol. 2024 still my fav. You will be pleasantly surprised at how unique they are. Lorelie was a popular one they’d play at alternative dance clubs. The whole Heaven or Las Vegas album is good

I was 15 when i bought this album and it was the most amazing thing i'd ever heard. Now 32 years later, i still get the same feelings listening to it as i did when i was 15. Their music is just timeless.

Completely unique voice and vocal style, it's like speaking in tongues. Her first child had been born shortly before they recorded the album (the father being the guitar player, Robin Guthrie) and the sense of motherly bliss is all over this beautiful song and video, even in her posture I think... :)

Just a little Twins trivia: they were originally going to call this song "Exquizitstuhfaze" after one of the lyrics in the song but they agreed that it didn't make any sense and wasn't made up of real words so they changed the title to "Ice Blink Luck" which they agreed didn't make any sense but was made up of real words. Then they did some massive bong hits

I remember listening to this song back in the 90s and then forgot about it. About a year ago I heard it in the pub and re-fell in love with it - maybe even more so than the first time. I spent the next year with the song in my head but I just could not rememeber the artist or title. I spent ages trying google what I could make out of the lyrics (mostly cherry cola) but drew a blank. Then today it pinged up on my apple music station! Result!!! Listened about 10 times. Cocteau Twins - wow - just had no idea it was them. Lovely song.

This song feels simultaneously like the absolute essence of the feeling of true love, and the realisation that we are all temporary, mortal beings, and that we all, one day, return to the Earth. It is beautiful.

It was a ritual for me an my gf to listen to CT every year driving to Newquay for our jollies. Only seen them live once at Wolves Civic. So glad I did. They were bostin!

Well at least that's nicer than the other two commonplace theories. (A) that Cocteau Twins music is predominantly "about" omens of death and especially of the extinction of the human race. Or, and for various reasons this makes a lot of sense to me, (B) that the Cocteau Twins music is predominantly "about" post-traumatic stress disorder, self-loathing, and fear of (the consequences of) direct communication.

The lyrics on all these songs are total mumbo jumbo so I doubt that. What draws everyone is the power of her ability to sing combined with the harmony of the music. Sometimes she doesn't even use words but makes sounds that seem to be words. Again, that's not to infer any kind of meaning but more a creative expression of emotion.

I was a Junior in college when this came out. Heard they were touring for 1st time in 4 years. Took a bus 2 NYC 2 see them on Broadway to a sold out crowd at the Beacon Theatre w opening act Mazzy Star. Nov 13th best night of my life. Lol

One of my favorite bands from the 80's & on. Elizabeth has such an ethereal voice that goes well with her dialect language. Loved their concerts, too. 3:)

I think Elizabeth is so unique in the way that not only is it amazing to listen to her sing, but also to watch her sing. She has a beautiful voice but her instrument is so much more than just the sounds coming from her vocal chords. It's her, her facial expressions, the way she moves her mouth. It all seems to just flow out of her so naturally. To me this is artistry in its purest form.

Ms Elizabeth Fraser is singing in tongues and we couldn't be happier. More power to her singular, gorgeous language and command of 3 minutes of fabulous pop.,

I saw them in Portsmouth 20 years ago..and ill never forget the pure happiness i felt.

It looks like Savage Garden are keeping their record of being the first band to mention the drink, unless you stretch the definition to include the cherry-red soda Mick Jagger's ill friend wanted but didn't get.

Con esta rola es que el Dream pop y, en especial, los Cocteau Twins entrarón a mi vida hace un tiempo ya. Y así como un comentario en inglés agregó, neta lo único malo que tengo con esta pieza es que jamás podré experimentar aquella sensación que tuve al escucharla por primera vez, DIOS, neta qué bonita letra, qué bonita voz de Liz, qué buena instrumentalización, qué buena atmósfera y qué inefables sentimientos deja esta rolita, legal que sí. Es como si realmente un sueño de amor platonico cobrará vida en una canción, idk, sólo puedo imaginarme siendo un cuate aún joven con un amor de adolescencia admirando lo bello de la vida juntos en algún paramo al atardecer (:

The same comment over all cocteau twins tracks on youtube … i cross my fingers for the right person to read this one day … Cocteau twins is a reminder of the best years of my life … in london many many years ago … my first day as a salesman in a shop in london on camden high street … i'm french … she's from sweden … i can barely speak english … she's amazingly beautiful … i pop in the shop to start my shift and this music is playing … then i feel shivers all over my body blushing red facing her amazing beauty and thought : "what on earth is this music !!!" … since then but even more after i left london i can't sleep without some cocteau twins … her name is merrethe she was, she is & will be a friend for ever !!! I miss you Merrethe my dear friend …
