Wonderful insight Josie, thanks a lot for sharing ❤. Also appreciated you reminding us that horses don't intend to annoy us - they simply don't understand what we're asking them to do, being patient & kind is key. If they "misbehave", then there might be an underlying health issue or pain (that's why regular checks, incl. dental ones are important). They simply don't have the brain capacity to intentionally annoy (unlike humans ....).

Amazing video! You are so patient and make sure to communicate with viewers so they learn to do the same. Have A LOT of respect for you and the point of view you share through the horse’s eyes which is the most important view to have. Thank you for taking your time to help many of us newbies to this beautiful world of horses when done correctly and with love. Amazing instructor. Which you lived in S. California. 🙂

Thanks Josie, love your patience. OTTB can really test them with their hotness. Just bringing my daughter’s OTTB back in work. He knows the lunge pretty well but it’s a fast caper. We definitely need to slow him down.

This was great. I've been riding an off the track TB called Moe's Tavern at the place where I have lessons. He is a real character. As you mentioned, walking fast is a thing at the beginning of the lesson. By the end, he is very relaxed. My teacher is doing a great job of training both of us. She will be using him in competitions.

You need to teach your horse to move his shoulders away from you. I think I show you some of that in this video. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lpqJmdGlZbqfm6g.html

Haha nice to watch but we have a slow horse on the lunge, she is a forward horse with a lot of Arabian in her, only on the lunge she lowers her head slows down you really have to push her and go after her with de lunge whip or else she is going to fall down and enjoy a nice long roll, she listens very good to the words , trot and Canter but she is lazy and slows down the whole time 😅

I completely misinterpreted title of this video. My wife’s horse is more whoa than go, so my problem with lunging is getting him to move - not getting him to slow.

That usually begins with your body language and I teach that at liberty in a round yard before I do much else.
