Nothing matches the School lunch in the 70's. The lunch ladies were all retired grandmas that didn't have to work, but did it for the love of cooking! I still smell that fried chicken and dinner rolls!

school lunch was so abysmal in my rural kentucky town that half the kids skipped it. spoiled milk was biweekly. extremely small portions were served everyday. if you were in an older class you may miss out on the vegetable sides due to younger classes getting the first picks. and the ridiculous meal ideas, like watered down beef inside a styrofoam bowl with plastic cheese slapped on top, uncooked. appreciate the ones who care!

My school had great lunches, my favorites were homeade General Tso's chicken with noodles and veggies, and we had a brunch day every month where we had breakfast crunchwraps. We had a cold sandwich bar like subway, we even had a cafe in our library that was open all day where you could get coffee, juices, cookies, snacks, etc. I always thought it seemed like a bit much for my medium-sized rural highschool, but in retrospect, and after reading some of these horrific comments, I'm incredibly grateful that my school invested so much in our food. Half our student body was under the poverty line, so feeding the students good stuff was always a priority because that may be their only real meal of the day. Shout out Big Spring High School. Go Bulldogs!!
