Hey everyone. I wanted to talk about something that I feel a lot of people might not be aware of, and it’s the disturbing rise of violent attacks on Asians. You might not know about it, and that’s because the media isn’t shining light on this as much. Due to misinformation around Covid, and blatant racism, Asians are getting wrongfully blamed and targeted. I learned about this through Asian media accounts I follow. Just to give you some context, a 64 year old Asian grandmother was robbed in daylight at a grocery store. $1000 of lunar new year money was stolen from her. That’s the equivalent of stealing someone’s Christmas gifts. I want to bring more awareness to this so that we can stand up for injustice. Please be vigilant. Check in on your elderly family members. I know I’m not letting my Mom go out alone. It’s sad that this is happening to our community. Please stay safe during this lunar new year. 🙏

Thanks, Michelle, my best friend is Chinese and I'm hoping she stays safe this year. Personally, I blame Trump for constantly calling COVID Chinese virus when in reality people in East Asia got rid of COVID a lot faster than we did and that says something.

When we needed her the most, she came back with her "Good Luck..."

I understand it can be annoying, but coming from a content creator myself it is important for us to get the video engaged so that YT can boost it. It has a lot to do with how its said as well. Yes I get annoyed when people sound desperate too but you cant imagine how many people there are who come to watch your videos all the time but dont know how to subscribe

Thanks for being an inspiration as a first gen Vietnamese-American woman! There are few of us in the entertainment industry painting faces but whenever I meet another I get excited. Michelle Phan was the first Asian beauty and makeup KZreadr when I was growing up. These videos were my inspiration to play with makeup and truly love and appreciate my Asian features. I’d watch these videos over and over again. If I had a bad day at school from bullying. I’d escape to KZread where I saw these magical, creative and fun looks. Watching Michelle Phan is inspirational and an amazing person sharing culture and knowledge about the most beautiful things. I am grateful for the Asian American representation. Thank you for sharing this with us, Michelle! Being Korean, your message on being aware and respectful of the asian community means a lot. People have ignorantly labeled me and my mom since the pandemic and I wish people would be more compassionate, especially towards those struggling in China as well. The designs on the compacts are so beautiful and I want to buy some, but my only concern is if the products are ethical (made with safe materials and if the manufacturers are paid well enough). I dont watch makeup tutorials like I used to anymore, but this really took me back to the "good old days" when it really did used to be just about the makeup. Michelle phan was one of the first makeup gurus I followed and subbed to, not because her eye makeup technique suited me (I have very hooded and uneven monolids so require a different technique) but because of the quality of her videos, the work she put into them and her creativity. I love it.
