    Not that I use Resolve for editing as I use Premiere Pro, but like others, I would like to know why there is no internal BRAW on the GH7, only ProRes? I am guessing the reason is that possibly Blackmagic only allows it in their cameras or externally via a recorder? Does the GH7 have ProRes 422 option? How are the colors on the GH7 compare to the S5II/S5II X? Would it be easy to match the video footage between the two cameras?

    What I would want to see on all current models is a quick and uniform access to the camera's 'control panel' display mode. I am thinking of a swipe in via the touch screen that would swap the current monitor's display mode to the 'control panel' mode. A half press of the shutter button would then return the previous mode. The large and tidy presentation of the 'control panel' makes handling so much easier without the need to press any buttons. Perhaps this could be considered and implemented in a future firmware upgrade. Thank you. Also the touch functionality should be turned off as the monitor is switched off by the eye sensor. Thanks again.

When you disable the gimbal and only use the metadata gyro, it is much better. I have a problem with the Lumix S5iix e-stabilization. When you move the camera fast, the image jumps a little, making it unusable for my professional work.

    @LUMIX USA will the XLR2 work with the S5II/S5IIX? Thanks Sean! I am guessing the 32bit float recording internally in the GH7 is not something that can be updated via firmware in the S5II/X but I’m wondering if the XLR2 will provide cleaner gain to use an SM7B or RE20 into the S5II/X without the need of a cloudlifter (the XLR1 is noisy with dynamic mics).

    @LumixUSA Hello, I've already preordered GH7, as it is almost perfect camera for me and my loved GH6 will become my B-cam. I've got two things I miss and could (probably) be solved by FW update: First is MP4 lite 4K open gate mode from S9 - I'm actually surprised it's not there already. It's perfect for "talking head" videos. Second is 5.8K open gate at 60 fps, even if it would be without DR boost. As I see numbers, sensor and processor should be powerful enough to do that. Even 16:9 (5760x3240) or 3:2 (5760x3840) without DR boost at 60 fps would still be helpful for me, as long as it is with sound and PDAF. (Internal NDs and 32bit audio directly in camera cannot be done until new HW, so I hope you note it for GH7II / GH8.) Anyway, you got me with train and plane detection, I love it! 🙂GH6 was already really good (except occasional AF quirks) and GH7 is even better. I'm a long time and happy Lumix user. PS: If you want another marketing win, AFAIK GH7 / G9II / GH6 are smallest, lightest and cheapest way to film ~6K at 60 fps, not to mention unlimited recording and it's in H265, not in storage-eating RAW. This is one of many reasons I love my GH6.

    Is rigging the camera and using external battery so much worse for your work? I'm not a pro, but i like my GH6 small(er) and light(er) and don't mind changing battery (outdoor) or plugging in USB-C power source (indoor / studio). And many pros just rig their camera and use some form of external battery like V-mount etc. Has traditional battery grip some kind of advantage compared to these options in your own filming experince? Or do you use it to shoot true vertical video? (For photography there's G9 II which has an optional grip.)

  • @superzero4250

    @superzero4250

    Ай бұрын

    @@dopravnivideacz We appreciate having the option for a more robust grip. We currently have, and have used battery grips on all of our cameras (GH4 | GH5 | GH5II). Utilizing the battery in camera plus battery adapters in the grip plugged into power banks. It’s less cumbersome and offer’s a sense of redundancy too. Add the XLR 1, and a lens mounted matte box, now the set up is simple requiring a lot less rigging… The lack of a grip would now require us to use a cage even when not necessary, rig the camera as an absolutely more convoluted setup. The reason we still use the GH series is for the size and simplicity… Luckily for us, we are not in dire need to upgrade from the Gh5II, and the new GH7 means the GH5II will further see a price drop… The image quality from the GH6 was really not superior, except for maybe some situations, and realistically five more megapixels is not enough to matter for video anyway. Besides, it was a totally missed opportunity for LUMIX to redefine the battery grip, with enhanced functionally similar to the YAGH for the GH4. Why not, they improved the XLR1 with the XLR2… 🤔

I own the g9m2 and gh6 too, and there buffer clearing with cfExpress is significantly faster, so i thougt, this would be the same speed with the GH7 and cfExpress. So, what is the truth ? Far too many Talking Heads are lost on the concept of Content Creation these days. They have been fooled by the FF only Crowd. They have also been lied to about MFTs and who Panasonic is. Yet Panasonic still gives them Gear to Test out. Panasonic has produced 2 good products for those that have the NEED. Those that don't understand those benefits, need not apply. I just hope the Negativity by those that just see their own needs and EGOS doesn't hurt the future of Panasonic and making future cameras. Every Major brand is focusing on Content Creators, yet when Panasonic does it, certain folks go jumping off the Mountain Tops. Personally have a huge interest in the potential of Open Gate and Crop & Hybrid Zoom as it would apply to using it on a Tripod for certain wildlife use cases.

    Adding internal BRAW will make more sense instead of "arri log c" (for extra $200).... The main features in most cases will be used rarely (like pro res raw). As many people are using Resolve, that "pro res RAW" will be not be very useful (and many already have external recorders). XLR2 price is $500 for device exclusevely for use with Panasonic's cameras. Nice things, but pricing at lunch is questionable. 240fps based on reviews is not good quality, compressed or low bitrate. Phase in MFT is definetely the main feature. Was excited and interested to buy GH7, but would rather buy a second FF S5ii X instead of it.

    32bit float via costly adapter possibly could be done to any camera with firmware updates. 32 bit float in audio recording was available in year 2000 or earlier, so to add it from "adapter" to a file is not hard. And I assume they will add as old cameras software update. Log-c3 I assume as well could be done in old cameras and the main reason was licensing. But might they will not do software update to just make it selling driver for GH7 and newer cameras. Not because they can't, but because they don't want.
