The so called identity thieving Lumbee never had a culture. They just copy the culture off of every Indian tribe & lie and say they have always done this. A total lie. God Knows they are lying.

Lumbee are frauds & never came from Siouan speaking tribes. They have no knowledge of any NDN language, & they copy dances, & regalia off of other Indian tribes & their Lumbee DNA project proved that none of them had any N.A. DNA. The Smithsonian should be ashamed of themselves for letting these frauds act like NDNs there,

True! So call lumbee live off lies. They were never a tribe, never spoke an Indian language, never had a culture, so they copy all Indian tribes culture. They invite Plains Indians 2 their powwow 2 copy off them. Indians that come back from there always tell us, that lumbee look & act black. Now they're trying 2 copy some tribes language 2 say 'hello my name is", Bcuz they see all tribes do that🤣🤣. There're the biggest frauds N the US.

O.M. McPherson wrote a contradictory response about the Lumbee, then the Crotan, but one that showcases how much culture they have stolen. In 1914, McPherson noted, "There is an abiding tradition among these people at present time that their ancestors were the lost colony, "amalgamated" with some tribe of Indians....while they are, in part, of undoubted Indian origin, they have no Indian names and no Indian language--not even a single word---and know NOTHING OF INDIAN CUSTOMS AND HABITS." McPherson believes they are Indian in perception but he contradicts himself by claiming they are "undoubted Indian origin". If they are Indian origin then why is it they have no customs, traditions or language in the 20th century. Yet in the 21st century they have found a wealth of knowledge on "their" customs and beliefs.

This video is proof of the decades of theft of Tuscarora culture by the "lumbee" tribe. Kaya little turtle (or whatever his real name is, thats a stage name and not a real onkwehón:we name) is doing an injustice by appropriating haudenosaunee dances and calling them "lumbee". the "Lumbee" were invented in the 1960s, you ALL need to trace your roots to your REAL heritages (many of you are tuscarora that have been lied to your entire lives) and give acknowledgement where it is due. The Tuscarora have sacred permission to use them as our fellow Haudenosaunee; you do not have a right to culturally appropriate those dances and songs and write OUR People's heritage out of history!! I'm extremely disappointed in the smithsonian for allowing this cultural theft to happen, and i hope the "lumbee" will one day follow their roots back to their true heritage.

Not retaining language does not mean "no identity." Most all of the Algonquian language is gone, except for a few words, and many of the thousands of small tribes are either extinct today or exist without the languages. History still remembers these people. They are still here! Ask the recent NE tribes that have recently been added to the list of Federally Recognized. Not having the language has no bearing on whether someone is really native or not.
