I applaud the shit out of Luke (and Othello) slamming ESPN+ as often as possible. Average consumers who have these issues can complain to ESPN all day, but those go straight to the trash can. Someone with Luke's level of credibility in the fight space making it known is great. (UFC Fight Pass and FloGrapping need this type of reality check as well).

He's not as big globally because of two reasons: 1. The lighterweights don't attract as much attention. 2. He's not popular in the West, which is where the large majority of the boxing audience resides.

Totally agree about taking points for fence grabs and I’d throw in junk shots and eye pokes. People forget once fighters see that refs are taking points then they will adjust their behavior. The idea is for it to have a deterrent effect. So maybe a fighter doesn’t throw high inside thigh kicks if he isn’t confident in his ability to control it as an example. Or they pay more attention to not letting their fingers stick out. Control your weapons. ❤

Volk caught Islam with some big shots in their first fight, so I can see Dustin doing the same. However, I think Islam wins that fight 8 times out of 10.

Dustin doesn’t have the takedown defense of Volk. Only reason Islam fought Volk on the feet was because it was hard to get the fight to the ground

@@kobezoldyck7177 It's not even that Volk stopped the TD, Islam still got 4 TDs in 5 rounds. Volk just defended well, and more importantly Islam didn't have the best cardio in that fight, so he couldn't chase grappling too much. Dustin just doesn't have that kind of grappling; he got dominated by BSD on the ground, and Islam is a few level above. Dustin's best work is in boxing range which Islam can easily bypass, since he has air tight striking defense, quite heavy in kicking for offense which is outside of that range, and largely uses single strikes which are really hard to counter. Basically the only chance for Dustin is if Islam fights dumb and unlike himself, which I just don't see happening.

@@maskreyMy view of it is that while it might be incredibly difficult for Dustin to do, what he's gotta do is hurt Islam. Enough to make him back up. He's tough but he's a man just like all the rest. Once Dustin has you hurt and behind those lines he can square up and knock you dead with either hand. If you try and shoot on him his grappling and submission is gonna feel a hell of a lot stronger when your bell's rung. Nobody is a world class grappler when they're on skates and if Dustin gets on your neck and you're not all there? It could be the end of your night real fast. I think Dustin is gonna wring what's left out of the tank. I'm taking him by sub.

Both of Tank's coaches and Leonard Ellerbe have said multiple times in the past year that Tank could make 130 for an Inoue fight, fwiw.
The thing with Jiri and middleweight, I believe comes from the Joe Rogan episode with Max Holloway. Max said they have the same agent, and said Jiri cut no weight for his fight against Rakic, he was about 205lbs during the fight. Supposedly the agent said, he could easily make middleweight. Whether that’s a real intention, or not, I don’t know. I’d reckon probably it is not, Jiri just won a fight at light heavy, former undisputed champ, might be next for the title again if things play out with timing.

Witg regard to what is foreknown and its relation to man's free will. I find the Christian formulation "Middle Knowledge" helpful. It pertains to a causal power - God, obviously - and seeks to reconcile God's foreknowledge and Man's free will. It outlines that God sets the _contingency_ but the _possibilities_ of it are by Man and his free will. Another interesting philosophical formulation is Avicenna's cosmological argument - the Demonstration of the Truthful - applied to foreknowledge. He outlines that the aggregation of Man's free will required a _necessary_ _being_ to cause it. This theological approach won't be to everyone's taste, but for those interested, they are worthwhile reading about.
