Prime Iniesta is deadly than any one. you can see the ball but can't touch it. he can enter in any close gap and come out successfully. his way of playing is exceptional from United fan. Modric is a stronger version of him but both in prime Iniesta is on top. Iniesta style of football make you dizzy while trying to take ball from him. Spain at World Cup 2010 and Prime Barcelona that team was scary.

Me gustan más los regates de Iniesta y su comportamiento en general siendo amado por tanto los hinchas del Madrid como los del Barca. Pero estoy de acuerdo contigo en que Modric domina mejor el centro campo, y el hecho de que siga jugando al altísimo nivel a los 37 años es una locura la verdad. Los jugadores con el número 10 siempre han sido los mejores, no? Jajaj En Madrid siempre me ha gustado Ozil y Modric en esta época, en el Barca Messi y Ronaldinho. Modric es sin ninguna duda top 3 centrocampistas de todos los tiempos. Para mí es el mejor pero indiscutiblemente es en los top 3 P.D.: No te preocupes por el inglés, es cuestión de practicarlo nada más :)

Modric hands down. Individually lead Croatia to the final. Spain is a complete powerhouse put together Modric proved he can play in the EPL and with other players. Iniesta is just a Barca player that needed Xavi and Messi. Modric won the Balon d Or and 3 Champions Leagues IN A ROW

Iniesta is a baller even in very tight spaces. Man is a Legend in ball control. I guess having 3 of those kind of players(ie Xavi, Iniesta and Messi) in the same team is what made the then Barca unplayable.

Two very different roles. Iniesta comes with pure midfield attacking style and is so creative on the key passes, on the other hand Modric is very well capable of holding any tempo and building up precise plays. I'd go with Modric if my holding mids are weak and with iniesta if i lack attacking forwards.

If it weren’t for 2 of the top 5 players of all-time being in their prime when he played, Iniesta would be in goat conversation.

Always loved iniesta for his sportsmanship, in fact modric is humble as well. Overall iniesta seems more flexible, even playin left wing in guardiolas later seasons at barca even if he was never that fast. Playing in tight areas, first touch, dribbling, and awareness goes to Iniesta for me, but obviously shooting, defence, outside foot, physical attributes goes to Modric. Both of them extremely succesfull, if i had to choose, i could not. Legends of the game. Only for a few players you turn on the tv, only a few of them give you that much joy while watching them, everything seems easy for them.

Positions and roles are different thing, two different positions can have similar roles and two same positions can have different roles as well. Iniesta might have played on the left or as cam, but his role was largely similar, an attacking midfielder playing right behind forwards, between the opposition's defense and midfield lines. Modric is far more versatile in his role, he's a box to box central mid, he can go forward and attack like Iniesta, he can stay back and set n manage tempo like Kroos and Xavi and even act as a game reading cdm throwing in tackles n interceptions etc.

BS you can say Modric was better at defense, which is still arguable. Iniesta is a world apart from Modric in everything. Because He is no longer playing in Europe, and you see Modric every time, you think Modric is his mate. I would pick Frenkie De Jong ahead of Modric any day, Iniesta is a god to the both of them.

Os 2 melhores meio-campistas desta geração. O rei da trivela Modric com sua potência física e qualidade no passe e o caranguejo Iniesta, o rei do drible no espaço curto e igualmente com passes geniais. Ambos jogam de terno, assim como foi Zidane e Ronaldinho. Com certeza estão entre os 5 melhores meio-campo de todos os tempos.

This 2 different types of players, not comparable. Iniesta role is actually winger then guardiola make him as attacking mid. Modric is pure midfielder, has deeper zone than Iniesta. To make fair comparation, modric should compare to Pirlo not Iniesta.

As a Real Madrid fan I’m going to try to be as neutral as I can. Iniesta was my favorite Barcelona player. Both are incredible players and should be in top 10 midfielders of all times if not top 5. Creative, humble, team players, have a great vision of the game and both have good scoring skills.

Both incredible players no doubt. Iniesta in his prime looked more skilful and better at dribbling than Modric in his prime (Modric very close though). However if you want to talk about who was better from an overall career perspective, you cannot overlook the fact that Modric is 37 and still starting for Real Madrid in a top European league, and even playing very well too. In fact, he’s been doing this since the age of 33, which was the same age Iniesta was when he moved to Japan to play in the J-League. I honestly think that this is really significant and points towards Modric being a better player/greater player. It wouldn’t be crazy to put Modric in the top 3 central midfielders to ever play the game.

@@enzonight5617 Maradona and Dinho both were cams, both were shit at setting and managing tempo of the game, just like Kdb, who's absolutely world class as a Cam but used to struggle as a cm when for some reason both Gundogan and Fernandinho weren't available, same is the case now for when neither of Gundogan or Rodri are available. Pep chooses Bernardo to drop nowadays over Kdb because Bernardo is a better ball carrier. But again, both are cam, Dinho and Maradona were cam too, Modric is a box to box central midfielder

Iniesta's speed of thinking and dribbling and just pure genius make me think he is better.

These two are the two best midfielders in the world and picks up his striker's runs almost everytime. For Real madrid, It will be hard for them to replace Modric because he has such a rare talent. There is no other midfielder like him on earth that is younger. Hope they are scouting for any amazing midfielder. I know Florian Wirtz isnt close to being in the same conversation as Modric, i would love to see him at Real It looks like Barca already found Iniesta's replacement- Pedro

Two true Legends, i loved both. I love how Modric made everything feel easy, and how he manages to build entire attack or defense without any fansy dribbles or moves, just some simple genius ones. #halamadrid

Iniesta era un messi sin tanto gol, que cerebro y que difícil quitarle la pelota. Una calma para quitarse rivales en una baldosa y servir un pase filtrado impecable. Iniesta was picked up for Barca because his talent was rare, and he had a potential to become the best central midfielder in the history (which he did). And Modric was that born talent until he turned 30 and that's why I find their comparison just laughable. People started "comparing" him to Iniesta only after 2017 and that's because Iniesta's performances started declining and Modric finally became world class. But even in 2017 and 2018 almost no one said Modric was even close to Iniesta in terms of their career performance. Then Modric straigth up disappeared from football until 2022 and somehow that dribbling against PSG and pass against Chelsea made him be on par with Iniesta even though Ini was obviously better until that season? That's just funny. Modric only had 3-4 world class seasons while Iniesta was THE best CM in the world for nearly a decade and I bet he would have continued to be top 5 until at least 2021, if Barca hadn't gotten into the hands of corrupted Bartomeu who straigth up desroyed Barca's strongest line up in history

For me it's modric. Magician, he can handle pressure,playmaker,he goes attack, he also does defense, dribbling top notch even in pressure, vision perfect, shooting brilliant, mainly consistency. He is a piece of art in football history ✨✨✨I'm so glad that he played for real madrid... But I have respect for Iniesta....

Both of these players are the best midfielders. I think for me iniesta played a more crucial role as a teen while modric has maintained longevity. I’ve seen both at their best and for a long time and i’m edging it to iniesta. He was a joy to watch. A true magician and barca’s midfield really took a hit when he left. He would’ve had 2 balon d’ors prob if messi and cr7 didn’t exist. I also believe everytime iniesta and modric played on the same pitch, iniesta had more of a presence. But respect to 2 huge legends of the game

Lmao stop it please. First of all Modric is not humble. And Iniesta was much faster, what are you talking about. I remember how 33 years old Ini outpaced a young and prime Azpilocueta when he was one of the fastest right backs in teh world. And his acceleration was almost as good as Messi's. His quick thinking was insane, and Modric hadn't developed that quick thinking until he was around 32. Iniesta is better in absolutely every way besides defending and energy. And that comparison was just stupid. Yeah, Iniesta stopped playing after 33, but Modric was barely a footballer until he was that age, while Iniesta had won absolutely everything he or anyone else could. I guess Modric enjoyed watching Iniesta win everything on TV for like 8 years straigth

It wasn’t just the ballon d’or he won, he won every individual award possible… Taking a small nation like Croatia to a World Cup final is more impressive than winning it with the best team ever. Even without xavi and iniesta Spain still had the best midfield in the comp. Xabi Alonso, busquets, David Silva etc. Modric won player of the tournament for goodness sakes. An individual effort is what we are talking about. Sure World Cup is the most prestigious trophy but next in line is ucl. He’s got 5 of those… the hardest trophy to win.

They both have the same vision each with unique particularities that shouldn't be compared. They're both great!

Zidane isn’t the benchmark of all midfielders. Iniesta achieved more in his career than Zidane did and was an absolute joy to watch. While I like all three players mentioned I find it strange that you give it to Modric because he is closest thing to zidane. Where was Modric when iniesta was balling?

Don Andres Iniesta is the best. The man was the legend and its sad that he didn't get a Ballon Dor. For me i would have given him 4. They both played each other, and one Iniesta would dominate in the midfield.

The maestro Andres iniesta on any day. A prime iniesta in this current European football, he will be winning balon d'or back to back. This man can play any of the positions aside goalkeeping and defense. Comparing Eniesta to modric is like comparing sumsung phone to infinix phone.
