Luka Doncic Opens Up About the Highs and Lows of his NBA Journey So Far

Спорт

We are so excited to welcome in Luka Doncic for a second time on the Old Man and the Three. Luka was gracious enough to spend about 50 minutes with us to talk all things Dallas Mavericks. We also have JJ giving his initial thoughts on the big trade deadline moves. And finally we do a check in with Jalen Williams of the Oklahoma City Thunder and (SIREN NOISE) the draft is back! This time we're doing best postgame meals. So much to get into. Let's go.
Topics include: JJ talks about which trades he likes and why he loves the Gordon Hayward to Oklahoma City Thunder trade and the Bojan Bogdanovic trade to the New York Knicks. Then Luka joins the show to break down his 73 point game against the Atlanta Hawks. He and JJ talk through possible rule changes like defensive 3 seconds in the lane and hand checking. Then Luka talks about what Kyrie Irving has meant to the Mavs when he's healthy and on the floor. Luka talks about his passionate trash talk about his rivalry with Devin Booker. Luka talks through the highs of the Western Conference Finals run and that epic series against the Phoenix Suns and the lows of missing the NBA playoffs and NBA play-in games. He also talks about the criticisms he's faced early in his career, the game winner he hit against the New York Knicks and his concerted effort to try on defense. He also gets into fatherhood and what an ideal NBA career looks like for him. Then we are joined by Jalen Williams of The Oklahoma City Thunder to talk about their amazing season and the play of Chet Holmren and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander aka SGA. And finally THE DRAFT IS BACK. Jalen Williams joins JJ and Tommy to draft their favorite post-game meals. Hope you enjoy this one!

    $100 to come into the barbershop and get a cut is absurd, my barbers been cutting my hair for damn near 10 years now and he just went up to $50 like a few months ago after being at $40 for 3 years. His house calls are $100-$150 cuz now he’s gotta pack all his tools, drive his whip 15-60 minutes away, spend an hour or two cutting hair, clean up & pack it away for the return. That makes sense, but coming into a shop and expecting me to pay that is a joke man 😂

    Luka has always reminded me of leo messi. A fierce killer on the court that never stops having fun, and a little shyness off the court that shows him very transparent and genuine in every answer. The sense of humor when he's at comfort, the natural talent that makes it hard for him to explain how he does things, and finally and more important: the way he smiles. @varjag Luka loves it in Dallas and has been on record saying he wants to retire a mav just like Dirk. You said Dallas isn't trying..... lmfao....... they traded for KP and it didn't work out because KP was to busy crying about playing 2nd fiddle to Luka. Then they trade for Kyrie. The Mavs are one of the best organizations on the planet regardless of the sport. Cuban bought the Mavs and started flying his players on a private jet stocked with personal chefs, top flight masseuse's, put them in 5 star hotels, and much more that I'm not going to list. You saying the Mavs are not a top organization shows me how little you know about them. The only problem is they're not on the east or west coast so it's hard to lure free-agents. That's it. With Dirk, the Mavs won 50 games or more 12 years straight. The only organization that has more is the Spurs. Plus they've win a ring recently and they will win another very soon. Within the next 5 years they will win again. Luka and Kyrie is going to prove to be to much to handle in the playoffs.

People love him for it, they can see the joy and playfulness, but on the other side they hate it when they see the frustration and complaining bad calls. A lot of the old timers need to improve their argument when it comes to hand-checking and this video sums up why that is. More fouls are called nowadays and guys are shooting way more free throws. The fact that animating your body after any contact is referred to as "selling" should tell you everything you need to know.

  • @abuyusufabdulhakim952

    @abuyusufabdulhakim952

    5 ай бұрын

    JJ's argument makes no sense. Why would hand-checking lead to more fouls? If it's not a foul, it just means defenders will be able to prevent attackers from driving by, receiving the ball, which in turn allows them to close the shooting space. All of a sudden, shooting 3s becomes much more difficult, percentages drop, and the spacing disappears.

    It's just a Slovenian temperment, it is known Slovenes are really shy and introverted. It is known in the ex-Yugoslavian countries that Croats, Serbs, Bosnians, Montenegrins are more extroverted by nature while North Macedonians and Slovenians are more shy and harder to "open up". They really have to know you to open up, it's kinda the same with Germans and since Slovenian history is mostly tied to German one it is kinda logical.
