3:22 is my favourite part of this scene. Both Moldaver and Hank are telling facts to Lucy interrupting each other, like two devils on her shoulder trying to convince her. And she's put in a spot where she's forced to make a tough choice. Both of them have blood on their hands but at this point it' s a matter of who's less wrong than the other

Idk about that. Hank says Moldavor was lying right when she mentions the city of shady sands being everything the vaults wanted it to be. Sure, that's arguable. But the. He proceeded to say she was lying when she said he blew the whole place up. Which is obviously not true. Even if he didn't pull the trigger himself it was his actions that resulted in the destruction of shady sands. He did mention Moldavor breaking into the cult with raiders and killing their people. But it seems like a flimsy argument to make in comparison. Especially if he wasn't the one who blew up Shay's sands. You'd think there would be more bite back

I think the moral of the story is "who you become through your actions". She wasn't always bad, most of the characters weren't. Except Lucy's dad. Everyone involved with Vault Tec has almost always been on the moral bad side. Moldaver wasn't evil, she had Shady Sands, and when Lucy's dad what she did she changed from that experience and basically vowed revenge at any cost. Lucy was just a casualty of that revenge, but she wasn't a specific target. But that's why they make such a big deal of "the golden rule" and as another saying goes, an eye for an eye makes the world blind. Edit: I am realizing this is literally just the Karma system from the games.

Did you expect to have Moldaver monologuing about her father's betrayal and what he did to her mum? She came there to grab him so she could have the code. There's no way she could make a brainwashed Lucy even begin to doubt her father. And Raiders stick around for as long as they're having fun. Which all ties nicely into the idea that the Wasteland changes you. Watch Lucy getting even worse in season 2.

That speaks to how much sense Moldaver was making in divulging the truth, filling Lucy in on the questions she wasn't asking with being so focused on rescuing her father. The questions like how does this mass-murdering raider lady know her mother, or her father for that matter. And Shady Sands being nuked in her childhood immediately after her repressed memories? Hell of a coincidence. The monologue makes more sense to a omniscient viewer, of course, but everything clicked for Lucy. Including Hank's increasing panic yet inability to offer anything but "She's lying" before moving onto the even less convincing "She stopped being your mother when she ran away."

Moldaver said it herself. "That is how Vault Tec deals with competition." I'm sure that Hank was also a narcissist and going bonkers at the idea of his partner defying him by running away with the kids but in the end he was apart of the original group that nuked the entire world so his corporation could completely control it and Vault Tec probably would have tried to do the same thing at some point too
