LUCKY... ewe've been DITCHED.😢 | breaking ground, breaking equipment & breaking hearts💔 | Vlog 578

Poor Lucky... it's his UNLUCKY day.
Today we split up the last breeding group after 21 days of fun!
And outside the sheep barn, I'm on a mission to pick up my washed wool to get back and help Mark install some field tile...
didn't end well.
But... we are inching closer to spring planting which I'm hoping will help Mr. Brock's mood. LOL.

Me too! I thought a “tile” was something flat and square, so I could not imagine, as you say, how it was placed in the field. To my mind, the actual “tile” is a “tube”!

The original in-ground field draining systems used pottery pipe sections named "tiles". In this part of Canada they've just transferred the label to the better and easier to plastic pipes.

Sandi you will never bore me. I find it amazing how far modern farming has come. I grew up on a farm in the 60's and 70's in Pennsylvania. We had Amish neighbors so we thought our farming was modern compared to the way the Amish did everything with the farm work horses. This new technology has really improved. I'm so impressed at all Mark's farming equipment an your knowledge of how to help him with it. Happy Mother's Day 🌹

Seeing you pick rocks out of the field brought back good memories for me. Whenever one of the farms, around where I grew up, was clearing a new field the neighbor kids were all recruited to go out and clear away rocks. I miss that we all helped each other. It was a good life

My favorite is the one we call little swamp. The entire field looks perfectly fine until get in the middle of it. Big dip what you call hollow. We had agriculture extension agent come out to help set up for perk rate. We found out it maybe a ancient lake that has filled with sediment until we have last swampy bit. Happy Mother's Day! I have decided you are too amazing. I hear so many people today complaining they "work too hard." They need to spend just one day with a farm family like yours to learn to appreciate how little they actually do on their job. I bet they couldn't keep it up for even half the day you put in every day. I bow to you and fellow farmers. And those aren't rocks, those are boulders! Seems the soil has a kit to rebuild mote every year to keep you busy. Like you don't have enough to do already. I see you do this every year and had no idea it was like this on a farm. We had a family garden every year, but we only moved rocks the first one. Sure puts farming in an entirely different perspective.

Happy mothers day! Thank you for the ride along in the fields! We are getting rain here in East-central Sask. The farmers are impatient to get on the fields but at the same time we are so grateful for the moisture after our drought.

It’s so amazing how those pipes to the tiles don’t get crushed by the tractor during harvest season.

I can't believe how many times you girls scissor step over those sheep fences in a day. I have a 3 foot fence I scissor step over and I fall about 3 times a week. Way to go girls~!

You always say you don't want to bore us, honestly Sandi, everything you post is really interesting!! So don't feel that way. If some of your followers only want to see sheep then they can scroll ahead. Farming is an interesting area that most of us have no idea how hard and time consuming it can be. So please go into detail, show us your rock picking and we will come along for the ride😘

It amazes me how nature pops those large rocks out of the ground with freezing and thawing, but the large boulder that Mark moved with the track hoe just blows my mind. When the tile is draining properly, are there fewer rocks rising to the surface?

After several years of hearing tiling I know what you mean. It is like the hose that goes around a basement to direct water away from the house. Here in central California we do not have that, or I am just ignorant. Probably am. Love you And Mark. I did not like the farming part at first. Now I enjoy your videos just because you bring love and personality to all of them. Bye.

I think it’s its weird name ‘tile’ that doesn’t help with the confusion.

I had to look it up. The drainage system used to be made of ceramic tiles in the 1800s, but evolved into HDPE or PVC tubing. Definitely the continued usage of the name “tiles” made me picture vast squares or cells of plastic drainage crates buried beneath the fields. I absolutely love seeing all of the field work! And the sheep, of course :)

I would love to see the fluffy sheep go outside for a week when it's nice weather. I know it's a pain, but some premier fencing would work good. What a benefit for them...💜
