Tina S has resurfaced a few weeks ago. She is french, is now 24 yo, she updated her YT and IG profiles with recent photos and is now part of a band. We are awaiting her new uploads or some concerts dates. She made covers of the most difficult electric guitar masterpieces when she was between 13 and 17yo, and was praised by all the greatests: Van Halen, Jason Becker, Pink Floyd, Steve Vai, Herman Li, … Her guitar teacher, Renaud Louis-Servais, a french guitar hero who recorded her cover videos, did also teach to many other spectacular guitarists such as Dany Villareal from The Warning, but Tina Setkic was in a category of her own, clearly above. My favorite covers from her are : Altitudes and For the Love of God.

It's almost infuriating that she manages to look bored through most of this. Makes me want to smash my guitar, burn the pieces, sweep up the ashes, and flush them down the toilet.

She was 17 when this was filmed, and had been doing Metal covers for a few years. This was her last post before going off-grid. This arrangement was created by guitarist Michele Vioni (stage name Dr Viossy), and Tina's version is essentially identical to his and uses the same backing tracks. Notice that she has a hairband at the top of the fingerboard, under the strings. That way, the strings are silent when played "open," so she gets a clean sound when using the tapping technique.

Renaud LS 16/3/2022 on KZread - Tina's teacher Renaud LOUIS-SERVAIS who filmed this video in his studio. "Thank you for reacting to this video of my little protected Tina. I had the chance to teach her the electric guitar from the age of 13 to 18, and I also filmed and produced all these videos at that time in my studio. I must say that she never disappointed me, what a prodigy she was... a small precision concerning this version, it is an arrangement made by the incredible Italian guitarist, Michele "Dr Viossy" Vioni, who was kind enough to let us use his version." Hi, Lucie. I absolutely love your reaction. It's how I felt when I first this unbelievable guitarist, Tina Setkic. She brought me too to tears, feeling almost useless. She's been placed among and compared with the world's very best, and truly, that's where she belongs. Honestly, in my opinion, I would to reiterate what you said: she is hands down the best guitar player ever. She's just one hell of a phenomenon, the world over. There are several more covers that she has done and they are all brilliant. Do yourself a favor and listen especially to The Loner of Gary Moore, Through the Fire and Flames of Dragon Force, For the love of God of Steve Vai, Arpeggios From Hell of Yngwie Malmsteen, and Altitudes of Jason Becker. I would love to see and listen to your reaction to these.

You need to go watch Tina playing the Dragon Force cover of "Through The Fire And Flames" .. then, after watching that video, go watch Herman Li's reaction to her playing it (Herman Li is one of the lead guitarists for Dragon Force). Herman's reaction to Tina S playing that cover is absolutely EPIC! .. You gotta watch Tina's video first, then watch Herman's reaction video .. crazy man!

Hi Lucie, you have discovered another one of my favorite young artists, Tina S (the other is Amira). A good review. Tina was trained on classical guitar from the age of 7. She played mostly classical pieces until she received her first electric guitar at the age of 13. She began posting vids of her guitar covers on youtube at the age of 14. She is a brilliant player for the amount of time she has been learning to play guitar. She plays a variety of styles; Classical, Rock, Blues, Progressive, and Fingerstyle. Guitar was a hobby for Tina during her high school years. At 17 she quit posting vids when she attended university. She has just posted new info on her websites (3 weeks ago). She is now in a band called 'Spin Twice". I think she will start posting new vids soon. Thanks for the cool review.

There are other players that can shred like this. I think the fascination stems from being able to play like a virtuoso at 15 and being a girl in an industry dominated by male guitar heroes…and with her playing like this. She really is quite excellent. I saw a video compilation of her progress as a player with her playing an acoustic guitar that was bigger than she was at age 8 or so with such sophistication. She’s obviously a prodigy.
