If you use the Alox lube, you should swab the bore after every shot, otherwise you will quickly (within 10 rounds) develop a hard, crusty, baked on fouling that will ruin accuracy and be a real bear to clean out. I lube for black powder with a 66% lamb's tallow/33% beeswax mix, but 50%-50% olive oil to beeswax works well too.

@Relowder33 OK. If you are shooting B-P that is a poor combination....sludge builder...Smokeless powder...OK. Try rubbing the lube into the grease grooves. If it wipes out easily try increasing the paraffin content...you need more wax in proportion to your soft lube.

Hi, just watched pt1, now pt2 : ) How often do you need to clean the sizer? Does it get leaded or stay clean? Thanks again. Now to pt3.

If it doesn't matter if you get lube on top of the bullets while in the tray, why not just dump the lube in from the cup? Thanks for another great vid.

thanks. I'm using a lee bullet mold and the grease grooves doesn't seem deep should I just liq alox it.

Ordinarily I'd be a lot neater. Ideally the tops of the bullets should be clean, but working around the camera with such a small pan just messed me up. The reason not to just pour in the melted lube is because the pressure of pouring it in can knock over some of the bullets.

Okay, so you might need to buy a new Lee sizing die for every calibre, and you might need to prelube, but: how much do sizing dies for the RCBS or Lyman lubrisizers cost each? And prelubing surely makes things more flexible, at least for shooters like you who might switch between BP, high-V and low-V smokeless & have different lube recipes for all these things. All in all, it seems like Lee wins out on all counts. Is there anything it can't do?

I am about to use your lube for my ROAs, 45ACP and ultimately my 9mm I pick up the lithium grease tomorrow and my friend is an apiarist and keeps me supplied with clean beeswax. I also shoot 44Mags, mostly with 44Specials, but I also like to load full strength loads and I am also about to load for a lad that bought a H&R Shikari off me. He wants full strength loads as he will be hunting pigs and goats. What can I add for the extra velocity, or can you recommend a different formula. Sticks of lube run $AU8-$AU10 here :(

Mike, when you pan lube and size using the Lee sizer, do you have to re-lube those bullets like you had to in part 1 when using Lee Liquid Alox?

I'm thinking of using 50% beeswax/50% Crisco shortening. Any thoughts on the Crisco substitute for the white lithium grease?

  • @duelist1954

It is not a very good choice. Crisco has a very low melting and burning point. You would be much better off using olive oil.

Oh my God , am I see right in this video ? Are you for real (duelist1954) ? Have you informed about lead poison ? I will never put lead bullets near or on my kitchen counter . Also I suggest you use latex gloves when you handle the bullets Other then that this is a good video ...
