I'm sure that wasn't always easy but, we loved him too. We still grieve for him & your family's loss too but, I'm glad we can still watch & listen to him & pass his musical legacy on to younger generation."

I just turned 75 last November. I have spent most of my adult life in Carson City. I tried Seattle during the 80s. That was a mistake. Back in Carson City.

Thank you for this great tribute. It brings back memories of two of the happiest years of my life when I was going to grad school at Texas Tech in Lubbock.

RIP, Mr Davis. We haven't forgotten you. 🙏❤️

You were such a blessing to so many. Your spirit, talent, and work will live on in history way beyond anyone who lives today. Thank you for all the wonderful music, memories, and times. My prayers and thoughts continue with your family and friends. GOD Bless you.

SO wonderful for someone to put this together .. When the news hit me of his death, first thing that popped into my head was, "wonder if he WILL be buried in Lubbock, in his jeans?" I still haven't heard what his actual cause of death was - 78 seems too young for him. He always appeared to be in very good health for someone of that age, and hadn't even put on hardly any weight from his much younger days. In fact, his dad was still active in his 90s as of a few years ago. I remember reading where he was spotted by a neighbor POURING CONCRETE for the front sidewalk of his house (also in Lubbock). This was just a few years ago. Don't know whether he was still alive when Mac passed. ? btw, Mac was so proud when they named that street in Lubbock after him many years ago .. Somewhere there is a pic of him standing (in his jeans) next to the street sign, looking good as ever .. :-)

He was undergoing heart surgery and apparently developed a fatal complication.

I couldn't believe Mac Davis Passed on! I thought guys like him are here forever! I enjoyed his music since the early 70's " _Baby, Baby Don't Get Hooked on Me_ " what a song. You'all know Mac is just gone from here.. Without a doubt, hes up in Heaven with all his family and friends and especially the Good Lord Jesus! Because without him, nothing would be possible. Say prayers for the ones left behind, and say Hi to Mac up in heaven ! AMEN!

You can leave Texas, but Texas will never leave you.

My own childhood was growing up in Lubbock, family left in 57 for Phoenix and I know my roots were in Lubbock. RIP MAC.

Thank you for this very well done video. I remember hearing his songs and buying a couple of his singles when I was in elementary school in Lubbock, Texas. A lot of great memories. He was 4 years younger than my Dad who went to Lubbock High School with Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly would have been 6 years older than Mac Davis. One of my last conversations with my Dad was about Mac Davis' death. My Dad contracted COVID and passed away in Lubbock about one month after Mac Davis passed away. RIP to them both.

Mac was the man, RIP .

I met Mac Davis in a bad situation. A lady in front of him slammed on her brakes because she missed her turn. He bumped her and I bumped him. When he got out of the car and I recognized him, I tried to lighten the situation by saying, “Of all the people in Los Angeles I could’ve crashed into, it had to be one of my heroes.” (It was true. I grew up with his music, as most of us did.) He was a gentleman throughout the ordeal and always called me buddy. He even told me a story about when he bought his first car with the money he earned from writing “In the Ghetto” for Elvis. He called it his “Elvis car”. He said he was driving down the street one day “looking at a girl’s rear end walking along the sidewalk instead of the rear end of the car in front of me” (as he put it) and didn’t see it had stopped until it was too late. He caused a lot of damage to that car, and he had only had it for a month or two. He probably told me that to make me feel better about running into him. As the old saying goes, the best way to know someone’s true character is to see how they behave in a bad situation, and how they treat someone who can’t do anything for them. By both measures, Mac was an absolute prince. I cried when he died like he was a good friend. The best artists make you feel that way. Rest in peace, buddy.

I had no idea he passed away,he was one of my favorite country music singers because he had the gift to make a song out of anything, I once thought of the title of a country song but couldn't think of the rest of it but it might have worked out if Mac hard it the title is warm beer and cold pizza it describe the man's life after the break up I know don't quite my day job
