    I did this to my 95 camaro and it gets stuck when rotated a half turn, added more shims to get more clearance and it still does the same thing only when I torque the cap bearings.

    Next time but 2 pinion bearings hollow one out for testing and use ratech solid pinion spacer no need for crush sleeve

    Couldnt you just have set the torque wrench to 12 and tighten the pinion? Did you put the crush sleeve in when you went to the .04 shim or after? Can you get to the ring gear bolts to torque it while the axles are in?

    When I’m rolling down a hill with back pressure and gear down to get back pressure I get a bad vibration it seems to be the same Rpm as the motor and hwy speed... seems to not be so bad at 55 but below or above that the vibration get harder .. I recently replaced my unjoint and that didn’t fix it... I’m kind curious if I knocked the balance out of the drive shaft as I used a hammer and socket rather than a press .. it’s a 95 camaro z28 auto, stock. anyone have any ideas?

    Literally having the same problem after putting in 3.73 gears in my 95 z28. My speedo is off by almost 15mph and at 85mph the vibration is really bad. Not entirely sure what to do from here lol

    deans2020 it definitely needed it. The cam really hurt torque at lower rpms. Would have to rev it up to move around in the driveway and parking lots. Now it will drive pretty much from an idle.

    To what pounds did you torque the pinion but?

  • @HorsepowerTube

    @HorsepowerTube

    5 жыл бұрын

    The nut is not torqued to a certain tightness, it is tightened until there is a certain amount of preload on the bearing. You have to crush the crush sleeve to do this, which can take quite a bit of torque. Sometimes a crazy amount, depending on your rear end. I'm pretty sure I used at least 500 ft lbs crushing the sleeve on a GM 14 bolt before.
