LSA Silverado makes INSTANT BOOST: first full throttle rips = body damage
It's time to go Wide Open Throttle with the LSA supercharged Silverado! The build has been done for about a week, but I had to install caltracs and a corvette servo in 4L60 transmission before I dared to go wide open throttle, but now that it's all done, we can start WOT tuning with the LSA blower! The baby 4.8 is making about 14 psi of boost and it sounds amazing under full throttle, but the best part is how instantly the boost comes online when compared to a turbo setup. The throttle pedal is now like a light switch, and the boost comes up in a hurry.

The supercharger sounds great and once it gets going it puts the power to the road!!! Nice build and looking forward to seeing how well the all wheel drive hooks up on this truck!
Can't wait to see the truck finished. Thank you, and keep up the great content
Outstanding work Sir! This is by far one of the coolest builds I've seen. I don't care if it only makes 400 to the tire. You picked the perfect truck to do this build in my opinion. The supercharger sounds amazing. I LOVE IT!!!

Love watching your builds, but the scenery is amazing
Love these projects and the detail in your videos
Loved the burnout! Just an incredible job!
On the Camaro ZL1 with LSA. A larger capacity coolant tank for the supercharger helps a lot. Can tell a fairly big difference in a 1/4 mi run on keeping IAT down.

Awesome truck, I really like it ! Your truck is almost my dream truck, dropped K1500 Sportside with short bed and cab with AWD mod and supercharged LS-engine under the hood. And I really like your way to build, you want to keep everything factory style as much possible, I like to do same myself. Really waiting for your next videos to see how AWD mod and 4L80e upgrade works. Just keep doing more great videos.

Knew you'd love a roots style supercharger back when you were debating what power adder to put on this project. And yes ... it's pretty undescribable to those who don't know. It's an experience. Enjoy it my friend.
This is awesome been on My wishlist for the longest time. One day!
Its easy to get power down on a track but on the street not so much. I Feel for you truck guys traction is always the struggle. I would imagine some nitto 285-315 tires Would help. I dont envy you if you decide to get a stall convertor (2800-3500). Then the real spinning will begin. I think the lower displacement could play into your favor ( less torque to cause spinning haha) I would do as tuner said on valve springs and while at it put a cam that will make power to 7000rpm. Then attack suspension. A mid 12s street driven truck is very impressive to me.. Awesome Job

This truck looks like a lot of fun!
Outstanding LT! I love this project. Understanding the traction issues with heavy throttle I was hoping the 0-60 would be better. But, it can only go up or rather down as you sort the traction improvement actions! Again, Love this build! Good job!

yeah, I was hoping it would do a little better off the line as well, and I'm sure if I played with tire pressure and the caltracs I could've gotten it to hook a little better... but we can and will do better!

Nice build, I'm in the process of pulling a 6.0L stage 2 cam with 4L80E out of my 2011 Chevy Colorado and I'm installing a 4.8L with a 4l60E. I am doing this because the 4L80E is slipping and need a rebuild and also the recent increase in fuel prices here in Canada. We're paying $1.67L for fuel right now it's crazy. Don't underestimate those little 4.8 L they're very strong and they make a lot of power.
Yep I told you, we would not be able to wipe the smile out your face!!! You get her to hook up, she going to be a beast! Awesome job LT!!!
I can’t wait to get my mine from Boost District to put on my LS2/S10!!!!
Great burnout at the end
Outstanding! I've enjoyed watching this build for sure. I think the 4.8 could wind out a bit farther. WOT shifts at 7k should be happy. Have you looked into Racerender at all? It's an extra step but being able to overlay gauges onto the video would be amazing.
Great background behind the truck
Volante makes a nice air cleaner box with a ram air tube out the bottom. Bet you could make one. Would be cool to see the iat difference. Really like the channel your great.

I love the way she sounds!!!!!
I have a 2011 Silverado single cab Short bed 2wd4.8 and I'm on my second transmission 245'000 miles this truck has been amazing for what I've put it through and pulled with it . Its best performance is on e85 because it is a flex fuel but anyway this video makes me want to supercharge it and build it up like your setup!
Mexico looks real nice this time of year. I’m sure that LSA build got you there and back pretty quick 😂😂
Good stuff, keep it up. Have you looked into putting an interchiller from Forced Inductions on? Then you can really manage IAT's and couple that with E85 and you can get sub-freezing IAT temps. Just a thought, but great work.
My new tailgate latches did that too. I don't have a fix to the latching issue, but if you put a screw driver under the handle you can push left or right (left on the left side, right on the right side) it will force the engagement of the latch. It's part of my locking up routine when I close it lol. Annoying but effective.
Sounds like a damn Hellcat. That’s amazing!!!
Came here for the final reveal, stayed here for them burnouts.
The wine of that supercharger makes me wish I could afford to do that to my 03 sierra with a 5.3l lol

Badass Lawrence!!!
Awesome build and probably the most relatable to most people but I noticed a tower during the burnout when the tailgate came open and it looked like a construction camera or traffic camera hopefully you dont get ticketed for careless and prohibited driving
Good Ole LT Doin' his thing! Lol I'd love to do a collab with you sometime LT!
Excellent work as always LT! I’m always impressed with your level of detail. Thank you for sharing all the knowledge and experience on these builds. Do you have plans to beef up the 8.6” 10 bolt? I have a 1994 K1500 with a F.I. 383. For years I’ve been kicking around the next power plant & drivetrain to build for it. I’ve contemplated 6.0L-4L80, 8100-Allison, (if I was spending someone else’s money LSX 454-4L80) or maybe Cummins but that would require a straight axle conversion and so much additional weight would negatively impact GVWR. Seeing your builds, in-depth knowledge and detailed results is helping me decide this future build.
@LawrenceTolman
2 жыл бұрын
so far, the 10-bolt has a truetrac and 4.30s, but no plans to do anything further, especially since now 38% of the torque will be going to the front which helps take some of the stress away from the rear. The same exact axle is holding up to my extended cab truck with 900lb.ft. of torque at the wheels, so this one will be perfect
This seems/sounds like a Chevy version of the second gen lightning. It makes me happy.
nice truck and looks like your in northern Utah hope to see you out on the streets for a race haha
That sound is worth 75 rwhp! And that pull you did at a 40 roll (up to 55 of course) looked and sounded great! Can u get 110 or 116 octane at a local track? Well. That may be a little much, but you could help your 91 octane with a bit of that.
Sounds like AWD will be the winner. My 93 S10 Blazer with a Vortec 4.3 V6 was 8.1 0-60. After e-fan, better intake/filter, shorty headers, and cat back exhaust it was at 7.0 0-60. My old LT1 Camaro was traction limited to 5.6 0-60. The COPO should be way faster than a V6 or old Camaro. Maybe you should have moved the battery to the back by the passenger taillight;) Great stuff!
Gotta love hearing that blower sing

These are awesome trucks and I’m glad to see someone have fun with the 4.8. I would rather fix up a 1999-2007 Chevy/GMC than buy a new truck especially a diesel. I’ve been doing my research on vortecs they had allot of engine options for early 2000s. I like all the early 2000 vortec motors from the 4.3 v6 to the 8.1 496.

I’ve been obsessed with this year of GM trucks. I just had a 99 Silverado with a 5.3 and sold it, bought a 00 Escalade with a 5.7 and a 99 Sierra with another 5.3. My parents had a 05 Tahoe with a 4.8 and I also had an 06 Silverado with a 4.8 and towed like 10k lbs at some times haha. These trucks and engine options are just awesome, so simple to work on and maintain as well. Great for fixing and flipping as well!

The torque from these LSA setups make them feel like a big block. I bet you can easily run higher timing and gain a ton or power. Every engine is different but I’ve been able to run 15-18 degrees on 91 and have no knock. If you put a larger intercooler reservoir in there it would slow down the IAT gain. My reservoir holds a little over a gallon and my IAT’s don’t climb quite that fast. But my heat exchanger is also a little bigger. My buddy with a 4.8 lsa setup put out 495 hp to the tires. I think on similar boost as you.
My tuner eyes didn’t miss the big KR spikes in your data.
Donuts in the middle of a public road for our entertainment? How irresponsible of you. We love it. Looks like a lot of fun to drive. Instant torque is the best kind.
Great video, we didn't see a dyno run, r u gonna be able to dyno it with the awd conversion?
Suggestions AWD and Rear ballast box in bed to keep tires planted heavier but faster spinning isnt winning.

Need to do the hose clamp trick on the tail gate
I believe you mentioned hoping to get under 6 seconds to 60 mph in your AWD video. I would have guessed this would be closer to 5 sec to 60.
Tune the pcm with the 91octane, then add water methanol injection. It will lower your iat on pumped gas and less work in the long run. I have a kit on my daily tahoe, 5.3 with basic boltons, my iat in summer will go from 50c to 24c at wot. That means I get winter performance all summer long.
Hey I love your videos! I have an 07 newer bodystyle z71 single cab with a 5.3 and wondered whats the best rear diff option to replace the g80? Truetrac, detroit locker, or other lsd?
We need a LT 'NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT" shirt.
Awesome video, thankyou LT, I personally would like you to stay with the 4.8, once you get your combination dialed in, you will give any 5.3 a run for there money, plus it's different. No point even talking about Ford or Mopar on this one.
