Lower Lakes Towing MV Mississagi on the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland Ohio

M/V Mississagi of Lower Lakes Towing turns the bend at the Columbus Rd lift bridge in Cleveland Ohio. I've heard this bend on the Cuyahoga River is called "Irish Bend". This set of clips was roughly 28 minutes long before I increased the speed 500%. I've tried to match the sound up close to the action while losing bits where people stopped to chat. Listen for the salute to the bridge operator also.
The Mississagi was built "Hill Annex", a L6-S-B1 Maritime class ship built by the Great Lakes Engineering Works, River Rouge, MI. She was rechristened George A. Sloan for the U.S. Steel Corp, later sailing for Pittsburgh Steel, Bradley Transportation Co and USS Great Lake Fleet. She was acquired by the current owners Lower Lakes Towing in March 2001( LLT, parent company Rand Logistics ). The Mississagi is 620 feet long and capable of carrying 15,800 tons.

The Mississagi is a Fine Vessel. A ship with the beautiful & iconic Pilot Cabin Forward & Engine Cabins Aft Arraignment.
I remember years ago sitting right at that outside bar she's passing watching the ships going past. What a beautiful sight that was. She's a beauty! Thank you for sharing!!
I'm sorry to say I watched them cut it up in Port Colbourne Ontario at the beginning of the Welland Canal.2022orbeginning of 2023 it seems like every grey ship that comes to Port Colborne gets scrapped. 😊😊❤thanks for a great video.

she was not scrapped at port colbourne what you must have seen was the manistee or ojibway the mississagi is being scrapped somewhere in the upper peninsula
Now that is skill to maneuver a big ship through there. Now that’s what they call a long and winding road/river lol Great video thank you. It’s sad knowing that she has been permanently retired now 😢
Great to see a video from my old home town. I used to love watching the laker's meander up & down the Cuyahoga. It's been many years since I've been there & this brings back some fond memories for me. Thanks Scott another fine video.

Like trains, I spent a lot of time watching then without picking up a camera. Wish I did before most of the classic lakers were scrapped

She makes going up that ole river look pretty darn easy. The Jackson could do it, Sykes can do it, Hoyt II could do it. Why Interlake had to butcher the Mauthe to do it still baffles me.
