Shark is a cheap piece of junk. Thanks for the video. If my Panasonic or Hoover should become not repairable, I won't buy a shark. Not being able to get common parts like belts, brush rollers and fans is a deal breaker for me.

How do you detach the bottom from the rest of the vacuum??

He did not screw in the other side of the hose. The hose would fit without shortening if it was installed properly.

My hose split up by the handle on the underside so I didn't notice until it was spreading dust everywhere. Now I have to get carpets cleaned. No more sharks for me.

a lot easier than when I did my dyson. Harder to get at, and the flimsy hose fails faster because it not only has to flex a bit for the head angle like a shark, but flips about 180 degrees to switch from hose to floor head. And the hose costs a fortune.

I was able to complete the hose replacement without taking about the vacuum as your video shows. Just opened the red hose cover, ripped out the old hose from both ends as the video instructs, and then screwed in the new hose. Just sayin'....

What model specifically was it you were working on? We will look in to this alternative.

I was able to replace the hose through the red hose cover as well. My model (NV501) has those funky proprietary screws that I wasn't able to loosen so was forced to use this method. It wasn't as easy as the video here seemed to be but with some patience and persistence, it went on.

Just seems like a dumb design. Screwing one side in then having to unscrew it to screw in the other side. One removable end piece would allow the entire hose to be perfectly screwed into place. Wire grommet design annoying as well.
