What I also particularly enjoy about this match is Raisy just hiding behind corners on Keep and catching Rapha unprepared time and time again. It's such a simple and effective move, and I am really astounded how little it is used today. If it was, players wouldn't zoom around the map all 10 minutes at a frantic pace, and Quake would actually start to become tactical again.

i feel like vengeur got easier bracket than raisy, while raisy was slaughtering everyone in the upper and losers. Then, it was easier for vengeur to play against his teammate, not rapha or cypher. Great performance nontheless

Of course he had the easier bracket he was seeded 2nd, and he earned it. All sports including esports seed easier for the teams that perform well in the regular season. It’s a reward for consistent performance.

  • @GunTech

Every year Rapha gets seeded the easiest bracket, because he has no competition in the US, and is therefore always seed 1 US. This is logical. Why #1 seed US is above #1 seed EU is the opposite of logical. Nevertheless, this year again, Rapha was seeded as #1 in the tournament, and seed #1 in the tournament gets the easier bracket.

Rapha made a few surprising mistakes (at least it surprised me), never thought I would say that. for example at 45:53 the superior angle would have been to go for the health bubble that was under Raisy but instead he went for the only one which would expose him, had he took the other he could have forced a bad engagement at the LG room since he had 15 rockets. Overall he played a style that I found less analytical that his usual. Raisy might have played with a better composure he also was moving really well and fast when he had the lead.

1:45 - 2:33 adding to this I'd say NA rank 1 has been a huge bonus for Rapha going into all tournaments, and that as soon as that's removed we get the true rank, which is he can beat top 5 EU on a good day, and all top 5 EU are equal to him. Rank 10 EU fresh out of (EU) relegation match immediately took a map from him FCOL, something the other 9 NA players have not succeeded in doing. Rank 9 EU could have put him out in his third match. No surprise EU players go toe to toe and win, so much talent. WP Raisy! GB Rapha.

As usual, no matter the game, you EU/NA MasterRace people are cringe af. If you think Rapha sucks or is overrated you're just salty af. His Quake E-Sports record speaks for itself, you just can't deny it without coming across as an absolute idiot. Stop with the division, we're ALL gamers & humans who love the same thing ... Arena FPS and Quake. Rapha wasn't himself this tournament. I think playing Finals that would normally be on LAN got in his head and effected him more than a slightly higher ping ever could. Almost like his mind was already made up that he wasn't going to play his best, therefore, he didn't. That's no excuse of course, the mental aspect of E-Sports is just as important as anything else. Raisy was more poised, and it showed with his usual elite plays. Raisy deserved to win, 100%, he proved it with better decisions and better aim. He was clearly the better player and displayed better skill. But if you think Rapha is overrated you clearly don't know shit about Quake, n00b. Congrats to Raisy, looking forward to the Finals and more God-Tier Quake!

Rapha seemed off for this tourney. I'm used to seeing him rage after every missed machine gun shot, but on cam, he looked so... I don't know... Tired. Defeated. Helpless. Not to take anything away from the Myztro players, because they both played better than ever and very well could have gone #1 #2 on LAN, but I wonder how much of an impact the EU server advantage had over the NA players throughout the tourney?

  • @Trivialdm

Please dont come up with such things like "impact of the EU server"... come on man, be honest to yourself. The european players and other had also to deal with the U.S./American server (disadvantages). No excuses. Rapha played pretty good as always. Fact is: the european favourites improved their game and played better. Simple as that. Still... I want the next tournament on LAN.

@@Trivialdm All the sets started on EU servers, which guaranteed that the EU player would always get an extra map on their home server.
