As a newbie that wants to invest, you must have these three things in mind 1. Have a long term mindset. 2. Be willing to take risk. 3. Be careful on money usage, if you're not spending to earn back, then stop spending. 4. Never claim to know - Ask questions and it's best you work with a financial advisor.

Really very solid, pragmatic advice. My only quibble is the part about not quitting the W-2 job until your 'side hustle' can pay all the bills...this sounds great in theory but in practice, most people will just get distracted and never reach that point and stay in their comfy W-2 job forever. What finally worked for me was having "NO PLAN B". Nothing focuses the mind like walking a tight-rope without a safety net.

@@riselikeaneagle I didn't take over my business, I started it from the ground up. I'd say the biggest problem I've had over the years is scaling. I've delegated everything I can, but I'm still required. My goal was to systemize everything so I could do other things if and when I wanted. I cap out at around 100 clients and 4 projects. More than that and my sanity starts slipping.

This almost seems like an outdated idea since things are changing so quickly. Sure, the typical 9 to 5 is not what most people prefer, but nowadays having the right one may actually be better than trying to grind away at this "start your own business" mantra. The business world is quite saturated and there are a lot of false promises. No job is safe and there are a lot of shifts happening, but maybe finding something secure and not flashy is becoming the new way to go. Cheers.

Let me add, if that’s how someone feels, nothing wrong with that whatsoever. There are a lot of great 9-5 jobs out there if that’s the model that works best for you. Just make sure that is YOUR decision and you aren’t just letting fear and self-doubt or someone on the internet tell you other people can have it a certain way, but not you.. THAT’S crap. Be aware of the difference and make your choices consciously.☝️

That’s true, it’s not all sunshine and rainbows either way. Some people would actually prefer the regular salary and being told what to do. They’re task oriented and thrive in that environment. Other people need the creativity, the challenge, the wins and losses to be engaged with life. For me personally, a 9-5 job feels like prison to me (I did it for 10 years). I’d rather make way less money, work more and call my own shots than live at a desk. People may think I’m crazy, I think they’re crazy, maybe we’re both right. 🙂

Its that creative power , those 3 hours upon awakening , those 2 hours of the muse as they say , the 9-5 eats that up but there's a way around it , Saturday and Sunday mornings . Or at least I'm hoping this is the ( key) .

This is great advice for some but I would like to know Codie if you have any advice for a guy with a wife and two kids? Where time is scarce, I know it's about managing what you, do you have any advice for families trying to do the same thing? Thank you again for the content!

I am struggling with this as well. I have two kids (accountant lol) and don't have two hours everyday. The very first thing I did, was get my family on board - household chores requires teamwork. Secondly, her advice about focus works. I try not to multitask. One way this helps is to set up different environments for my 9-5 and my business. Example, my personal laptop have bookmarks and software downloaded that I need in the business. I also have headphones that I use at my home desk for some concentration music. My work laptop and desk don't have this setup. Strictly work bookmarks and websites. I also try to work in sprints. Short bursts of deep work. Example 30 mins before the kids wake. On Saturdays, no house work until they're awake. I can do house work when they're up, but not work on my business when they're up. So I try to get some stuff done when the house is quiet.
