Great apartment for that price although utilities are twice as expensive as here in Russia. I made a video about Subotica, nice city and as you said great location for trips into Budapest( and cheap flights elsewhere). I do prefer the vibe in more southern/eastern parts of Serbia like Krusevac though, Kragujevac is a city I really like.

I am glad that you chose our Serbia to live. I'm from Subotica and believe me, it's not bad, I've been living there for 50 years. Subotica is a city at the door of Europe, it has many beautiful and new apartments and many new and modern buildings are currently being built. I love watching your clipovers because you praise us Serbs a lot and present a beautiful image of us to the world. If you ever move to my city of Subotica, I will be honored to meet you and of course hang out with you, although my English is not the best, but I hope you learned something. Serbian language and I speak a little English, I'm currently writing via google translator and that's it. We are waiting for you in Subotica, come and live here WELCOME TO SUBotica.

Low cost? That is a N I C E building and apartment, man. Interesting you had SBB go out at 2 AM because mine has gone out at around the same time multiple times before. My building is barely over a decade old but it does not have fiber and I found out that mts wants the key to the building for 10 YEARS just to install fiber, so that is very likely why so many buildings don't have it despite infrastructure coverage being good. Also one detail, the radiators are not steam but just hot water and for district heat it's only around 45c but since your heating cost is a mere $30 that building very likely has a heat pump which runs at up to 60c. District heating is outrageously expensive for what utter garbage it is, if we disconnected our house (200m2, the price is based solely on size of the entire place) from it I think a heat pump would pay for itself in 2 winters maybe 1.

Any PON should be cheaper because it doesn't need active equipment for 20km at least, while in my street every other pole has an HFC.

Given the politically unstable situation in Serbia and the growing crisis that affects the country, particularly in terms of inflation and events that are altering the standard of living, of which you are aware since you have been in Serbia for about two years, and you can witness firsthand how much things have changed.

Don't believe too much in propaganda, malicious stories and incitement, Serbia is progressing day by day. Of course, some people are bothered by this, so they want to present perfectly legitimate decisions as they are not. The stories about inflation and the like are lies, Serbia has almost the lowest inflation of all European countries and has coverage, so this time, if there is a global financial collapse, Serbia will be among the most unaffected, so why do you think that there are more and more German, or Japanese high-tech companies are in Serbia. Of course, there are those who are consumed by jealousy and would like to destroy Serbia with lies about Serbia as a Russian satellite and somebody who is troublemaker, but this is not true and they will destroy themselves first.

Serbia has always welcomed every foreigners with all respect, love and warmth, but you probably have to look for the reasons why they didn't want to accept you in your own character and attitude towards others, so you can only get that answer by looking yourself in the mirror and find delving into your own character. Your first words may already indicate the reason. Otherwise, Serbia is not the right place for disrespectful, arrogant and rude individuals, because we do not need people who think that the whole world revolves only around them, so maybe it is better not to go to Serbia. Of course, anything can happen to a living person, including to meeting someone who is intolerant of a foreigner for some personal reasons, but this is a very, very rare phenomenon, but a normal person recognizes this and does not condemn country and citizens for it, because after all the same thing can happen anywhere in the world, but from your record it can be seen that you were looking for something in Serbia that you will probably never get, because this country is not a whorehouse, but a decent, traditional and respectful country, what you are looking for it is best to look in your own backyard.

Belgrade is great for night-life, girls generally like foreigners, especially those coming from English-speaking countries. 2003 was a troubled year in Serbia and much has changed since.

that was only a few years after the belgrade bombing and the kosovo war, so i imagine the country was not in the best shape at that specific time. you shouldn't be surprised if you were treated poorly, especially if you're american.
