My $600 a Month Serbian Apartment

Ойын-сауық

Back in Serbia! I arrived last Monday after spending three weeks in Colombia and Mexico. It's time to start working and enjoying my favorite country. This apartment is expensive, but I really enjoy living here.

I went to Serbia for a little over a week between late August and early September before my semester started. I was utterly amazed in each city and the people were some of the warmest I have experienced in all my travels. Before, my favorite city was Bansko, Bulgaria but I think I've made my mind up to retire in Novi Sad. Its a beautiful nation - definitely heading back. I've even thought about getting my masters in Belgrade, but I don't think my veteran benefits will cover it, sadly 🥲 Congratulations on your new spot

I like how you have the washing machine (that is also a dryer?) right near your bed, you can listen to your wash getting done as you drift off to sleep! And I'm not even being snide, when I was growing up, one house we were in that I really liked, I had a room that had been the utility room or something and the washer and dryer were right nearby and I found the sounds of them soothing.

Welcome back Charles. Sadly that isnt expensive anymore, prices went to hell this year because of many Russians imigrating/escaping here. In belgrade 600 bucks is basically one of the lowest prices. Shoe boxes apartments (22-24m2) cost like 350 eur per month, Its really crazy how much property prices went up (about 50% up compared to year/two ago). Hopefully that will change next year because it really doesnt pay off to live here as a tenant on average salary because whole salary alone isnt enough to cover it. Also considering many comments about price, you could make video showing apartment renting prices on market sites so they could get pleasantly surprised by the increase like the rest of us. lol.

600 euros for 1 bedroom apartment with washer in bedroom, and no bedroom doors. Anyone coming to your apartment has view of your private space - your bedroom. No curtains in living room and so many windows of neighboring buildings looking at your living room?! Coffee table is .. strange, almost at floor level, now how impractical is that? Living room is good size and nicely equipped. Maybe location is close to downtown, but that still it does not explain such high price.

I mean it’s a 50,50 hit because all the money you are wasting renting for 6 months you can save and rent out a house for cheaper and save as well to buy you’re own house, but for 600$ is a bit too much but it looks nice, having a big house is too much work so I understand.

Are you walking distance to pedestrian zone? Yeah its nice sure and there are some nice features I really thought the bathroom floor tiles were super fun and the kitchen has everything you might need but the place is tiny tiny and the rent is huge considering how tiny the apartment is with just a small bedroom and a bathroom sink in the entrance way. I really do not like the vanity in the entrance area she is lying. there was no room in the bathroom that is nonsense about the steam on the mirror. But if it makes you happy thats what matters. You should buy your own place there.

If she allows you to go away for 5 months and not pay then its technically 350$ a month. But even 600$ is cheap if you are making your money in US or online. Actually if you find someone to rent your apartment out for those 5 months you could even have it completely for free lol.

Charles, they robbed you. 600eur plus expenses for that? That column near the entry door means that the owner has decided to demolish hallway walls. They left that concrete beam, because they couldn't demolish it. But the walls around it could have been structural walls. Idiot owners want to make 'studio apartment' experience in old apartments built in 60s-80s, and do that without asking experts or authorities, and they often demolish structural walls and put to danger lives and property of other occupants of the building. "industrial look" reeks on unfinished remodeling works. At some point someone said 'duck it'. We will go for "industrial look" Those 50+ year old wooden windows cry for replacement. .
