28:40 What country does teach about crimes? The answer is Germany. In my 13 years of school i learned 3 years extensive about warcrimes, how hitler rose to power, mindset of the German population in the 1920 to 1940 and etc. I'm not saying that those warcrimes/crimes against Humanity are on the same level. I think to resolve the problem with japan's warcrimes, japan should aplogize to the asian country like the germans did to the jews.

Look into how Germany deals with their past war crimes. They actually put plaques of the names of Jewish people on the cobble streets where their homes use to be that they were taken from. The plaque has their name, where they were taken, and when they died. Possibly accepting past crimes and putting them at the forefront is a different alternative to moving on? Idk look into it if youre interested, just my humble opinion.

18:44 I truly believe that if you lived and witnessed first hand the atrocities the Japanese Imperial Army did the families then I can understand why it's so hard to forgive. Ppl in China witnessed babies being bayoneted so I can see how they can see Japanese as the enemies. Anyone who can forgive and move are really strong ppl. I hope the remaining survivors can find peace.

When you were talking about that person and expressing their gratitude and change in perspective it reminded me of me of myself actually. I've been watching your videos just right about the same time as that person, 13 or 14 years old or so and now I'm in university. I remember I'd get so wrapped up in my own head and how I wouldn't allow myself to present myself the way I wanted to do so in middle and even high school. As I watched your videos even further I would slowly break out of my shell and become less apologetic and take things at an easier perspective. Still with worry of perception but less about concealing a part of my identity that I felt was wrong. & in turn I was able to weed out the people who weren't as honest and truly a friend. Even after all these years of watching & learning from you I've always been able to learn something new, in a way that opens my way of thinking. Thank you David!♡♡
