The casting bit is so interesting as they talk about issues of what sells and what doesn’t in bl- like the mention of “feminine” men, gay actors, and visuals, as factors to consider when casting. And the balance between what will sell and being progressive (though they also seemed to be showing how the bl industry profits and markets sometimes off of “progressiveness”)- super interesting insight! And shows some issues in the industry and fan culture subtly

i love that one staff guy wanted a effeminate guy in the show and then a woman said it doesn't sell. honestly, i i agree with the guy. literally in most bl out there we have those "straight" characters who suddenly start liking guys. or we have gay guys who behave like some straight macho alpha. or we have cute looking faces. apart from the fact that it is a bl and most characters are bisexuals, those characters don't behave nothing like a lgbtq person. there's no scene of them showing interest in other men; or a gay group of friends (because, you know, we gays like to reunite); or not even a room that looks like the room of an out of the closet gay kid (you know, with pride flags and lights and photos and the whole gay mess we accumulate lol). and in bl there's NEVER a main character who's effeminate. i only really remember diary of tooties, and it wasn't really focused on romance, but also the title is REALLY offensive. i wish the BL industry, instead of just putting straight looking characters, could remember that lbgtq community is really vast and there's a lot of different people. and i also with that they could stop shaming effeminate gays and butch lesbians.

I have no idea (haven't read the book or anything) but I definitely get the feeling that Nubsib knows him from earlier -- maybe he was a short, pudgy little nerd when he was a kid and Gene was kind to him or helped him? And probably Gene has completely forgotten the encounter but Nubsib kind of imprinted on him or something, LOL. I guess it's possible that it's something darker, that Gene was in fact mean to him when they were younger and Nubsib has nursed revenge plans ever since... but I guess we'll find out!

@@aprillen yeah exactly what I was thinking, like it’s somewhat suggested that there’s some sort of connection between the two that goes beyond love at first sight- nubsib was definitely immediately focussed on him and like idk his smiling seems somewhat familiar and fond if you get what I mean? Gene definitely knows nothing, that’s for sure but I feel like Nubsib knows Gene somehow but we’ll see I guess 😅 also I feel like this series is the sort to give a backstory to the couple and the love between them, and not rely on the love at first sight type thing. With how fast they’re taking things I feel like there has to be some sort of backstory

I haven't read the book or anything either, but I think Nubsib has ulterior motives. Maybe to advance his career or something. I think there is attraction there, but it feels like he is up to something which would cause issues/drama later? Who knows, but I'm excited to find out!

no solo en su orientación sexual, sino en cómo actúa. son capaces de escoger a un gay sin pluma (hetero pass) pero no a uno afeminado, incluso si su actuación no es tan buena, porque no vende. es la triste realidad de los bl. nunca se presentan variaciones, solo protagonistas que salen con una chica y al rato les gusta un chico, pero nunca exploran esa sexualidad y se quedan estancades en un mismo tipo de mlm (porque la verdad solo he visto como a tres personajes que sí se sepa que son gays y no bi)

I love how they filmed the casting scene. The black shadow blocking the surrounding gives such an intensity to the scene! It was also So Hot!! Really good!! Well done by the actors and the production/direction!
