This song was originally given the temporary title, "Lovebites" that was what Miyako called it when she was writing it because she wanted to write a song named after the band for years. When Asami added the lyrics they changed it to "When Destinies Align." The lyrics were written about all five members since Miyako wanted the song to be representative of Lovebites.

This song is basically the flagship of their latest album, and it is also one before the "break", after which they then make come back with "awakening/hammer of wrath". The actual last song of the concert was "We the united", which you already reacted.

That track was my introduction to Lovebites about 3 months ago. I saw the MV for this tune, and it was the twin guitars of Midori and Miyako that made me replay it over and over. Their music feels like a relentless attack most of the time, they rarely slow down. All of the live stuff here on KZread including phone recordings show how tight they can play. They are rarely out of sync with each other, from what I have seen. They are incredible for sure. Thanks for another great reaction David! :)

LOVEBITES - When Destinies Align lyrics: It is not just some coincidence It is nothing like reality It is something very precious that not everyone can get It is like a dream, a turn of fate It is what the each of us can bring It’s a chemical reaction, only possible by these pieces Why must someone get in our way?We won’t let them We can go cause we believe Why must someone put out the light deep inside our hearts Can you see?We can create a miracle Open your eyes, we’ll make a new future All of our hopes are in these hands Like a bird flying into a world we don’t know Carry on, carry on This is us, carry on It is failure that has brought us here It is made of our blood and tears It is something very strong that keeps us moving on and on It is love, ambition, destiny It is why we’ve been through everything It is what becomes the reason, shining bright into tomorrow Why must someone get in our way?We won’t let them We can go cause we believe Why must someone put out the light deep inside our hearts Can you see?We can create a miracle Open your eyes, we’ll make a new future All of our hopes are in these hands Like a bird flying into a world we don’t know We will always be together Carry on, carry on This is us, carry on Open your eyes, we’ll make a new future All of our hopes are in these hands Like a bird flying into a world we don’t know We will always be together Open your eyes, we’ll make a new future All of our hopes are in these hands Like a bird flying into a world we don’t know We will always be together Carry on, carry on This is us, carry on ----- lyrics: asami music: miyako arrangement: LOVEBITES (miho, haruna, midori, miyako, asami)

Yes! They will come back for 3 more songs after this. The actual last song of the show is one you did not long ago "We the United"! David you got the names right and the pronunciation also correct! 😀 Asami is the singer and Haruna is the tiny powerhouse behind the drums! The cutest drummer on earth! This is the only song of the show where Asami's voice sounds a bit tired, but on the encore after the break she is back to her trademark powerful vocals, an amazing vocalist! Miho is an amazing bassist in a band where they have 2 insane guitarists she goes by a bit unnoticed because of it, so im glad she gets love from the fans too. MIHO! MIHO! MIHO! Lets not forget how Miho is also constantly helping Asami hyping up the crowd, pumping her fist whenever she is playing an open string. Haruna aside from being the Goddess of double bass Thunder and cutest drummer in the world, is also a nutritionist (im 95% sure of this,, i hope im right), she knows exactly what to eat, and how to get the most energy out of her tiny frame. She is also a regular at the gym from what i understand on social medias. The M&M show! you were talking about them being in synch all the time. Just this week Miyako posted on socials medias a picture of her and Midori at Midori's house. Midori has also posted several times whenever she goes to Miyakos house. These ladies dont just practice together in the studio, they regularly go to each other's house to practice and write stuff. Working hard gets you results! And these fantastic musicians are no exception, they put in the time and we get to listen to some of the best Metal i have ever heard in my life! 8.8 is yet another great score for Lovebites! At this point with so many good scores you have given them, you are definitely a fan! 😁 This turned into a huge wall of text but it's Lovebites, they deserve all the praise i can give them! Thank you for another great video! 👍

This song encapsulates the band perfectly both in lyrics and music. It has ALL the elements that make them , them: Haruna’s relentless drumming. Killer double kick and fantastic accentuating cymbal work, steady, melodic but also technical bass work by Miho. Incredibly precise, melodic, technical guitar work with a LANDMARK dual guitar solo. Fantastic vocals by Asami with her signature high notes and spot on, poetic and insightful lyrics. What we love about the band, summarized in a song.

Normally I'm not too keen on really long reaction videos as they tend to repeat things or have far too much waffle, but yours are always entertaining, knowledgeable and well-reasoned. Your final two names to learn are Asami (vocals) and Haruna (the pocket monster behind the drumkit). As far as Asami's elaborate movements are concerned it's very likely something that carried over from her doing classical ballet training when she was younger. She's grown so much as the front for the band... her vocals are constantly improving, her pronunciation is becoming clearer, and her confidence and the way she works the crowd is up there with anyone else I can think of. You're totally right when you say she's a stage general. This is just a great band in every department.

Asami studied ballet for years which is why she understands movement so well. Not only does she keep her hands moving but she moves so gracefully around the stage and does some little dance moves in some of their songs like "Raise Some Hell." Great and fun reaction, David.

Also asking Miyako in interview how she feels when play together with Midori, she answered- when first time met Midori and start playing together everything was just fine looks like we feel each other. So I'm going to recommend if someone doesn't do before me first to try the song Addicted. I think there was some live video. Stay metal.

Asami.... the singer right.... Asami.... got that? You mention her theatricality and movement onstage. This is understandable. Asami is well used to visual presentation in a live setting because she is a classically trained ballet dancer. The graceful and flamboyant gesturing is straight out of her ballet background and there are even songs (Swan Song in particular) where she incorporates elements of ballet choreography into her stage performance.

I think it is mainly nerves she takes awhile to get in to it and knowing that it is filmed for a live DVD adds more to that. When they're not filming for DVD she is better with interacting. Some more proof watch her and Midori play the Theme from Farming Simulator '19 with Dragonforce. She is out of her shell in that video interacting with everyone else.

Like Douglas said i think the nerves are a big factor. In the behind-the-scenes documentary that comes with the DVD, when they walk off the stage to take a break (exactly after this song ends) the first thing Miyako says to the camera is about how nervous she was going into the show because of her piano solo, the Chopin Etude before Swan song, she said she was nervous because she wanted to play perfect for the DVD. She even smacks her own head and smiles as a joke about it! 😀

You are right, the lead singer can make or break a concert with their performance. I finally saw what was my favorite band for a long time, Iron Maiden, I was so excited for days on end waiting to see them! They had been out of the picture in the US for like, 7 years? then came back, I thought they had disbanded because Bruce Dickerson had a solo career going. So happy to find out they had been overseas all this time. So.. Concert starts, having a blast, loving it then Bruce goes on a 5 minute rant against us fans in the audience because we do not know the songs on the new album that had just been released like a week before the concert. He berated us, cussued us out for only knowing their older stuff. This was like 10 or so years ago. Nemophila is now my favorite band. I still listen to Iron Maiden but it is hard because I remember that rant.

I heard about that, apparently he did that several times during that tour....turned a lot of people off from Maiden. From what I understand, after the tour he posted an apology to all the fans saying he was frustrated at how the new material was being received, and he took it out on the fans in attendance. Personally....I don't buy the reasoning, but at least he did make the apology.

  • @Sabundy

Not saying it's ok he did that.....it's not. And he owed people an apology for doing that. But it has to be frustrating for musicians to have to always trot out the same songs and have the audience just refuse to engage with new music.

From France: The Battle of the Goddesses ... It might be a bit long, but: I dare not compare these two guitarists, only express what I feel. For Miyako, no problem, she is a virtuoso, as well on a 6 strings as on a keyboard and she is also an excellent composer. But this musician is cerebral, almost introverted. She comes from the classic, which is perhaps what explains her relatively fixed attitude on stage. For this, she reminds me of an English guitarist who hit the headlines of the rock world in the 70s, by his frozen attitude, his totally expressionless face on stage and immutably seated on his stool bar in a corner of the set: Robert Fripp, intellectual and precursor of rock-prog if he is one and immense guitarist in the service of music. And Midori? Ah, Midori! She has a je ne sais quoi that comes from the roots of blues rock. His solos are incisive, precise and do not get lost in procrastination. They are as effective as possible. His touch of strings is very personal to him. Maybe she doesn't have as many registers as Miyako, but her interventions are straightforward and her attitude on stage is a pleasure to see. She moves, she projects the power of her game onto the crowd. She's a rocker! She enjoys playing for the crowd, it shows. You can see it in his smiles, which are not theater or a fictitious attitude, but very sincere. It shows in the movements of her body, she lives her music for her audience. She is happy on stage and it makes a spectacle. And that devastating smile, my God, that smile !!! Finally, I would say, but I could be wrong, that in a few years, Miyako, thanks to his obvious talent, will still be practicing music and it could be in other possible fields. We feel eclecticism in her and she is certainly capable of excelling in other music that might surprise us. She did classical yesterday, today rock and tomorrow ... Who knows tomorrow ... Midori comes from musical movements of rock essence (between garbage-rock and garage-punk). She has always been at the heart of rock and rock lives in her. And tomorrow, I'm almost sure that she will do rock, rock, pure rock again and again ... The one who scrubs the ears, moves the bones in spite of us and fills our heads with riffs ... And always that smile...

She is quiet and shy off stage, yet put a mic in her hand and crowd in front of her and the Metal Goddesses would scare even Odin and Thor!!!! Great review, breakdown and reaction. Call the ladies the M & M show, Miho/bass (everyone calls her out as they do the same for Band-Maid's great bassist MISA!!!!). You have to remember Haruna/drums the 4' 9" pocket rocket, she beats those drums to the point that I feel sorry for them (whatever they did to her just let it go and if they owe her money I'll help pay it off....LOL). Good one David, you practice what you preach....entertaining to say the least. I can only imagine what the South American fans will do when they get to see these insanely talented women LIVE!!!!

On the origin of the "say the bass player's name three times" internet thing... Its something that began with Band Maid bassist MISA several years ago. MISA is a huge fan favorite and it is a common occurrence at their live shows for the audience to start chanting MISA's name (the others sometimes too, but not with the frequency or regularity of the MISA chants). It became an internet thing among Band Maid fans that you don't just say MISA once but three times - my best understanding (or at least guess) is that this is meant to mimic (in a respectful and/or affectionate way, not a mocking one) the MISA chants from the live shows. (For what it's worth, I think there are elements of Band Maid lore surrounding the band's first trip to the US that add significance to the MISA chants for both the band and their fans, but I'm not 100% on the details). So the "MISA MISA MISA" thing is something Band Maid's online fans have been doing for years, but much more recently, it seems to have suddenly become increasingly popular to mimic the "shout her name three times" thing for other Japanese female rock musicians (mostly but not exclusively bassists) as well - again I believe the mimicry is primarily intended to be respectful and/or affectionate, not mocking - but this would be why you now see so many "MIHO MIHO MIHO" comments on Lovebites reactions.

@@Glynthepin The funny thing is, I discovered band maid by complete accident. I was looking up BABYMETAL stuff because rock band and so I wanted to see what the actual band was like. I was in my truck listening to it and I had to step out for a minute. When I came back on, “thrill” was playing thanks to KZread’s auto play. It sounded pretty good so I kept listening. When the bass solo came in, my jaw dropped. Like. ‘Holy sheeeeeet’. You don’t see too many bass solos in a song anymore so naturally I was intrigued. Couple more songs later and I was an instant fan. And that was back when she played a four-string. Band-Maid and lovebites are a couple bands where if you could take anyone of those members out and replace them with somebody, it would not be the same band. Every pillar of those bands are strong on their own, they just couldn’t be the same without one of them.

David, does Haruna win the award for the most gratuitous use of china cymbals? She uses 3 in the kit and has 2 high in front of her. Most drummers seem to just have just one and rarely hit it. Her drumming always sticks out to me could the china usage be a factor?

  • @THEDavidHeretic

China cymbals can be fun, they have a very unique sound. You just have to be careful with them, overuse can be very blaring and a little hard on the ears. When used tastefully though, they can make any drummer stand out. Haruna does a great job of knowing when to use them, but more importantly, when not to use them.
