Yes Miyako does do a good job on the piano which is hardly surprising since she is a concert standard classical pianist. That intro is a variation on a Rachmaninoff piece. Lovebite's music is riddled with little classical allusions compliments of Miyako. Many people cite such artists as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween and Gary Moore among the inspirations for their music but their influences go much further back than that.

  • @dusanpokrajcic

Miyako loves to use classical music in their songs. That intro is Rachmaninoff Moment Musicaux Op. 16 No. 4 in e Minor, with hers own little twist to fit it with that ballad part of the song.

Lovebites has taken the glory of 80's metal and elevated it to a whole new level but thanks to Miyako they have also taken some of the classics and incorporated them into their songs. Rachmaninoff played as an intro by the classical trained Miyako (with her own little twists) and then the bluesy vocals of Asami before they kick into gear. As you heard they can harmonize vocally as well as musically. Great ballad and again with that Lovebites touch. They play outside their "LANE" all the time from Power, Speed, Thrash, Ballads and as you heard classical piano. Miyako was trained as a classical pianist from age 3 and the guitar started at 18, however while she gave up the classical piano career she never gave up the master's gifts and uses them all the time in her song writing. This song really show what fans love about this group as you see all the little things that they do inside the song to make it great. Attention to detail, perfection in the rendition and flawless execution on stage is the reason we truly love this band. Good one David, and while I might grade it higher, no matter you truly appreciated all this song had to offer and noticed all those subtle items added in to make this one of my favorite songs by them. Scream for Me (kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4Oblsmvg7jTc9I.html) from the same concert is the "METAL" song with that M & M showcase, but this really shows just how gifted this group is. Miyako has a music degree and would of become a music teacher in between classical piano performances had it not been for Lovebites, loss for the classroom and concert hall but a big gain for us metal-head devotees.

As Asami says, they are Lovebites and they play heavy metal. They're not confined to a genre, they can play power metal, thrash metal, 80s-style metal, rock ballads... they're versatile within the entire genre of heavy metal, so it's not really fair to pigeonhole them. They're simply a great band, no matter what style the song they're playing.

They probably got from Motorhead....every show since the late 80's Lemmy would come out and say "We Are Motorhead.....and We Play Rock N Roll!!!" sometimes he would change the second part. "....And We're Here To Kick Your A**", or "....And we're Gonna Clean Your Clock"

It's almost unfortunate that Lovebites have powermetal stamp. They are a lot more than just powermetal. They do Rock&Roll, Thrash Metal, Ballads... it's just that most played songs in youtube are powermetal songs and they catch everyone's attention, being so heavy. If you ask me. The ballads are their best songs. Specially "Edge of the world", which is real hybrid song, a masterpiece. Their equivalent to Metallica's "One".

Even putting aside Miyako's brilliant playing, for me this shows how electronic keyboards have improved. I remember Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman, pioneering keyboard development and the banks of keyboards they would require for a concert. Analogue synths and not touch sensitive, weighted keys in those days. The subtlety of touch and the sound from the keyboard Miyako is playing is testimony to the development of electric pianos and synthesisers.

LOVEBITES is called " wolves in white dresses" in Japan. so they always wear white dress on stage. since 2017 they have released 3 albums, 2 BRDs, 2 live albums, 2 EPs,1 DVD and 1 single in japan. the best all female band in Japanese music history is LOVEBITES. therefore, other all female bands can't even see the back of LOVEBITES.

I am sure someone must have menyioned this before. Miyako is a classically trained pianist and has studied the piano for twenty-seven of her thirty years to concert level standard and the piano should be regarded as her main instrument. She only began to teach heerself to play the guitar at eighteen and did not take it seriously until she left university and is really her second instrument. One wonders how good she will be on the guitar when she has played it as long as she has played the piano. She also has a sweet voice.

Lovebites women are so talented and their musicianship is awesome; so they cannot be stuck in just one genre. Not everything is shredding. I recommend the live songs “Edge of the world” and “Epilogue”. For more power, thrash metal I suggest “The hammer of wrath”, “Break the wall”, “Thunder vengeance”, “Raise some hell”, “Scream for me”, “When destinies align”, “Eagle fly free (Helloween cover), ad if possible “Dancing with the devil” (so bluesy metal), etc.; all live. Again, avoid “Bloodstuck”.

They are all Jedi-level musicians, but Miyako is a savant. She is a concert-level classical pianist, and started learning guitar at the age of 18. She composes most of Lovebites’ music. It is too bad most musicians today are not exposed to classical music. Classical training takes you to a level far beyond what most rock/pop musicians will ever touch. It comes in handy when you want to do Metal!

Reviewing a recent concert, someone criticized the group's rendition of Liar (playing it live for the first time with their new member) saying that they weren't animated and Fami, who normally is all smiles onstage, didn’t seem energized. A response pointed out that the lyrics of the song were about a painful betrayal in a relationship, and smiles would have been inappropriate and jarring. (I'm paraphrasing.) There's a lot of intentionality in the Livebites compositions, not just in the way the instruments blend, but in the structure, sometimes literally with sevaral separate movements. That includes the integration of the lyrics with the changing mood of any particular song. Imo that is a big factor in the power of their compositions.

8.9 is a very good score! Yet another beautiful performance by the girls. A little more on their soft side which is always good to see, we Lovebites fans already get plenty of heavy and fast shredd type of songs, so this is a welcomed change of pace. Love the section when they as you said, kick it into overdrive, again Haruna finding the perfect time to make use of her ice bell adding a flavor of tension, such a good drummer. Also what a beautiful vocal performance, Asami fit's in so well in their songs, she is so good. And this one in particular we also get to hear also Miho and Miyako singing. Thanks for another awesome video David, i really appreciate your detailed analysis of this band's fantastic skills and excellent compositions! Can't wait for the next one! Stay safe.
