They never got married, but Daryl and Sara were together for about 28 years before they broke up in 2001. In Entertainment Weekly October 16, 2009, Hall listed this as one of their favorite songs and explained: "That was a postcard to Sara Allen, who was my partner for many, many years, a 'having a great time, wish you were here,' kind of thing. I cannot tell you how many girls have told me they were named for it!". Peace out.

I took my mom to see these guys live back in July 1980 in Riverside California, just five miles from her house. She loved it, and the crowd was full of women going crazy. Like the Bee Gees and the BOZ MAN, the Ladies love these guys, I've witnessed it happen every time.

Hall & Oates took Blue Eyed Soul to the next level on this song. Both Hall and Oats were huge fans of Philly Soul and Mowtown; and singers like Marvin Gay, Al Green, The Temptations, and The Four Tops - and it flows through their music. Really good Soul music is reaching and touching people's hearts on a human level. It moves you on an emotional level. Great reaction and heartfelt commentary on the music and song. I greatly appreciate your hard work. .

Doesn't Daryl just ooze Philly soul? Missed this the other day, and would've suggested She's Gone like everyone else and you've now done! Studio version is worth catching of that too. Nice catalog of songs from them. For something different, check out a couple of their videos for songs like: I Can't Go For That, Private Eyes, You Make My Dreams, and Out of Touch. Daryl has some dance moves too. He's a multi-instrumentalist, and his Live From Daryl's House guests and him give some insane performances. I think their first hit was Rich Girl, and it's so good. There is a video for that with Daryl in sunglasses and a fur coat which is kinda bizarre but still awesome lol! Love your reactions as always :)

John Oates met Daryl Hall in college in 1967, and the two Philadelphia singer/songwriters released their first album together in 1972, The duo reached the US Top 40 with 29 of their 33 singles charting on Billboard's Hot 100 between 1974 and 1991.......Like this one.... "Sara Smile" Baby hair with a woman's eyes I can feel you watching in the night All alone with me and we're waiting for the sunlight When I feel cold, you warm me And when I feel I can't go on You come and hold me It's you and me forever Sara, smile Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sara If you feel like leaving, you know you can go But why don't you stay until tomorrow? If you wanna be free You know all you got to do is say so And when you feel cold, I'll warm you And when you feel you can't go on I'll come and hold you It's you and me forever Sara, smile Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sara Sara, smile Oh, won't you smile awhile, Sara Smile Oh, won't you smile awhile for me, Sara Oh, smile awhile Won't you laugh, Sara So thank you for making me, make me feel like a man Not keeping me crazy, crazy Smile awhile, oh

Finally, you got around to these fellas, I first suggested them back in April to do "She's Gone". You can do that soon. These guys are radio GODS, and their music played in clubs everywhere. HUGE Playlist. Back in 1984, the RIAA declared that Daryl Hall and John Oates were the most successful duo in rock history. Since their formation in the early 70s, they have gone on to record 21 albums, and have sold over 80 million records worldwide. "Maneater" was the biggest hit of Hall & Oates' career and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it stayed for four weeks. Hall and Oates were one of the most reliable hit machines for two decades, boasting six No. 1 singles on the Hot 100 including "Out of Touch," "Maneater" and "Rich Girl." The soft rock and blue-eyed soul legends were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Thanks for another great name added to your Playlist. #80

Their first top-40 song (#4). I never liked them until I heard a live recording. I didn't become a fan, but I started to enjoy and appreciate their artistry, and could understand why people would think they're the best. This is to me their prettiest song. Their best midtempo song for me would be "Rich Girl."

I was in 5th grade when this came out. The seventies was an amazing era for popular music, easy rock and R&B. This was the soundtrack playing on the portable radio when you and friends went to the beach or had a BBQ in the backyard. For older folk like myself, this music transports us straight back to those times. Amazing song with a timeless vibe. Great reaction JM.
