Love is total attention | J. Krishnamurti

SUBTITLES AVAILABLE IN: ENGLISH
Love is total attention
Extract from the second conversation with Father Eugene Schallert in San Diego, 1972.

This channel is managed by the Krishnamurti Foundation Trust, UK, and by the Krishnamurti Foundation of America.
The role of the foundations was described by Krishnamurti when he said, 'The foundations will see to it that these teachings are kept whole, are not distorted, are not made corrupt. They will not give rise to any sectarian spirit in their activities... nor create any kind of place of worship around the teachings or the person.'
We maintain extensive archives of Krishnamurti's original works and all four Krishnamurti foundations are actively engaged in the publication of material in various forms.
Our videos contain thousands of subtitles in more than 25 languages, translated by volunteers from all over the world. If you would like to help us with translating subtitles, please contact us at digital@kfoundation.org

"Love is a total attention without any division." J. Krishnamurti. Something I always agreed with. Love is not a passion, because it is the virtue of selflessness in the midst of others. Wonderful recording. Thank you.

Unfortunately it is indeed the same for most of us, when you do understand K's message, there is a certain freedom in it, that unbinds you from what was and everything becomes clearer, however this doesn't necessarily mean easier, depending on your life situation. Now you are free to truly love, wishing you a wonderful journey ❤️🙏

But what I can say now is that he encourages us to face the truth without trying to escape from it and no matter the consequences, be it loneliness, dispair or whatever, thus stopping the wastage of energy and building the soil to really LOVE.

Love is all-encompassing. When you just love one person but hate others or not even notice them, ignore them you don't truly love. Love means seeing and being attentive in general. Love the animals, the flowers, the sunset, even the things that are "negative". Why? Because love does not judge. Love requires attention wihout judgement.

Please, let me say that this man isn't only a 'personality', he is pure essence. Personality is a veil we install in front of our real self... our essence. Krishnamurti worked on himself and removed the veil by decades of enquiry to see through the veil of his personality. His journey of enquiry is the spiritual journey, it lasted a lifetime and yet I'm sure there was more to discover about his real self, that is just the 'Work'. Many blessings

Wonderful. Krishnamurti is indicating exactly what the Western mind always (almost always) does not get. Just be quiet, present, aware, hold no thoughts, JUST BE. Mind is the problem, and is where the west generally fixates itself as if there is nothing else... Its like the boat on the ocean fixating only on itself and being oblivious of the ocean in which it rests!!!

"Be aware" said K. But how to be aware if we don't know the meaning of the word. It seems similar with intelligence. Not the intellectual or rational but the real intelligence of Life. The word Aware gives an indication. A-Ware is composed of A meaning No (like A-theism) and Ware or War. No more War inside means Peace. And only in a place of peace Love can manifest Himself.

What we normally call love is ownership. So what we can't have often turns to hate. It seems K. is saying love is freedom from all movement - brain activity to grasp, own, control some one, object or moment. This brain activity is compounded by the illusion there is an agent, person, entity, variously named I, Me, Self, existing inside brain/body. Is K. also saying that in this state of total attention there are no emotions, no feelings or moods? Now that is where it becomes difficult for what is this state of total attention K. talks of? When do we ever have a state of total attention? It seems any attempt, ANY ATTEMPT to answer this is again brain activity, which the ending of total attention. Thank you K. for the challenge.

Maya (/ˈmɑːjə/; Devanagari: माया, IAST: māyā), literally "illusion" or "magic", has multiple meanings in Indian philosophies depending on the context. In later Vedic texts and modern literature dedicated to Indian traditions, Māyā connotes a "magic show, an illusion where things appear to be present but are not what they seem". Māyā is also a spiritual concept connoting "that which exists, but is constantly changing and thus is spiritually unreal", and the "power or the principle that conceals the true character of spiritual reality". In Advaita Vedanta school of Hindu philosophy, Maya is "the powerful force that creates the cosmic illusion that the phenomenal world is real." In Hinduism, Maya is also an epithet for goddess Lakshmi, and the name of a manifestation of Lakshmi, the goddess of "wealth, prosperity and love". Also, Maya refers to wealth or treasure itself. There are many examples of hidden treasures guarded by visible or invisible supernatural powers.

So love is not seeking attention, it's giving attention to everything without any judgement?

Percieving is a feature of human being. Using the faculty of imagination and knowing if the perception is aligned with Existential Reality is the simple goal of humanity. Know the soul/ life atom and the formless energy/ GOD and help it to be imparted through education. 🙏🙏🙏

The life of JK is astonishing. From his discovery by Annie Beasant, his time at the Theosophical Society of India, his self realization and finally to explain the inexplicable.

I am surprised to see that so many of us try to define what love is ? Isn't it simply what moves you inside when you feel how much care people needs ( young or old) to go along their often difficult time in life...and that as you have gone through it yourself so you know that we can do it...and we can give them our individed attention ...?
