Great road opening! Have you heard Interstate 515 in Nevada was decommissioned in May 2024, which was replaced by Interstate 11, which starts at Arizona state line near Hoover Dam, then runs south of Boulder City, then runs along former Interstate 515 (US 95/93 still remains intact) until Interstate 15 interchange where it continues as US 95/Interstate 11 until at Kyle Canyon Road interchange where Interstate 11 currently ends? They're now proposing extension to Mercury.

Always fun to drive a new highway for the first time! 🙂

That new highway LA-3241 looks neat

What a nice new highway!

I believe once this highway is complete all the way to I 12, they will change it to highway 41 and renumber the old route to 3241.

I doubt it. LA-3241 is not a replacement for LA-41, which goes to Pearl River. They only stick close together in Phase 1. They'll diverge in the next phases as the highway heads south to Lacombe. The '41' in 3241 seems to be coincidental, as 3241 was the next number available when they started planning the highway 44 years ago. With only two exceptions, all new Louisiana Highways since 1955 have gotten a 4-digit number.

This is a expressway road meaning only access on and off with interchanges and intersections, sone may be two lanes with intentions to upgrade to four lane in tne future. US 63 through West Plains, Missouri is the same way, a four lane expressway with stoplight intersections throughout.

There's no definition like that for an expressway, as an expressway may have traffic signals. Some interstates can also be described as expressways. The term you're looking for is limited access or controlled access, the latter of which is the Interstate Highway standard. This might be described as limited access, since there are no crossings or left turns, but there are driveways that connect directly to it, and right-hand turns can be made.

@@coreysmith8560 it’ll get a lot of traffic that uses LA-21 and US-190 through Covington. It’s pretty useless in its incomplete state. And I will concede that this *could* be called an expressway.

Lol highway hasn't been open that long and it already has shredded tires lol

Primary: have direct access to bogalusa from I12 for commercial traffic secondary: hurricane evacuation route and intent to ease traffic on US 190 in Covington
