His closing to this song, “oh yeahhhh” was his signature ending. I miss his music, his voice, the gleam in his eye. You could spend a long time listening to this man and his music and never be bored. The whole jazz era and scene is a good chill atmosphere. Wish it’d make a comeback. So soothing.

The person you're thinking about with the trumpet if Dizzy Gillespie, with the puffy cheeks and that wasn't him. This is one of his most famous songs, no one could ever do it like him, he was so loved he toured across the globe and was beloved by so many. This will always be a fave song of mine, glad you enjoyed it.

Louie Armstrong was a man that never made excuses or used the color of his skin to keep him from living his life and dreams. He was truly a gentleman and very talented man. Ppl can learn a lot from Louie just by listening to him sing this song. I grew up listening to Louie and after all these years he still makes my heart smile.

And he took a stand against American apartheid when four little girls were blown up in a Birmingham church. He refused to continue his worldwide tours for the US until action was taken on Civil Rights. So yes- he was a man of strong character.

Louis Armstrong is one of the GOATS. His "Oh Yeah" is at the end of every song, Iconic. I'm 73 . I've been listening to Louis since the 1950s. No one is more iconic. You were talking about Dizzy Gillespie and his flugelhorn with the blown up cheeks.

When you two were talking about how long before you were born that this was recorded, I couldn't help thinking about the fact that Louis Armstrong was born 120 years ago!😆 August 4th 1901 in New Orleans, LA and I think of him as the true father of jazz. 🎺

The puffed cheek trombone player is making you think of Dizzy Gillespie who, like Armstrong, was a trumpet player and a great one. He was known for the extremely puffed cheeks and the trumpet with the bell bent nearly straight up. Here's a link to him playing alongside Armstrong. kzread.info/dash/bejne/jINl16-jqpbUY9o.html

What an American Treasure Louis Armstrong is; that smile, his voice. Although the message of this song is positive; it makes me teary eyed every single time; it is very moving and makes me think of all the things in the world that are not beautiful. Certain hymns have the same effect; such beautiful music opens the soul and I think of humanity’s shortcomings. Not healthy, I know, but that’s what happens.

I am just a hurting white guy that believes in your Ministry. Nipper of RCA is my hound. Louis (Think French when you pronounce his name, he loved France.) My grandfather ran NBC which did not exist before he brought Tell-A-Vision. I don't have much Van, but I have my belief in souls like you :) We had so many warriors once upon a time. They shall return. We had a black elevator doorman at Rockefeller Center. He lived humbly, for a Sacred cause. He was best friends with Louis Armstrong. When Foreign leaders would visit Our country (yours and mine) Van and they would stop by a small flat in New York first, for Eugene Bullard meant much more to them than a US President. I love you Van. -Who ever I Am. Tom J PS- I remember Aaron Neville and used to try to teach our black citizens of him. 20 years ago they did not know. Family brought Vinyl, all of us murdered. They left one sheep alive. Keep going.

I remember always thinking that he seemed like he would be a kind person. Also I recently watched a documentary about him on PBS. He had an interesting life.💙☮💙 Btw Van...I heard you call me out again on your live stream last night. I was still laughing about it. Louis Armstrong had a music career that lasted more than 40 years. He made his first recordings in the 1920s, and had more hit records than I can count. Some Louis Armstrong records that I can recommend for you to react to, are ""When You're Smiling (The Whole World Smiles With You)" (originally recorded in 1929, and rereleased in 1936, and probably re-recorded a few times after that), and Armstrong's 1954 covers of the W.C. Handy songs, "Yellow Dog Blues" (Note: the song title is a reference to the Mississippi Railroad System (aka "The Dog Line"), whose routes were color-coded on maps) and "Beale Street Blues".

Van, did you catch the line, "The colors of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky - are also on the faces of people passing by"? The rainbow of humanity is what creates this "Wonderful World". A few of Louie's other great songs you may want to react to:. "Hello, Dolly", from the movie & Broadway show of the same name; "Mack the Knife", simply 1 of the best songs ever written; & "'Zat You, Santa Claus?", as the holiday season is upon us. Thanks again for bringing classics to us all.
